Chapter 10 Cheap Grandpa is Back
Shen Hanxing looked at the bamboo stick in his hand. There was nothing on it now, only the taste remained in his mouth, which made him feel a little aftertaste.
When he looked at Wen Zhenyi, he found that she had turned around and returned to the stove.
Old Mrs. Wen told them to go back and eat quickly because the food would taste worse if it got cold.
Shen Xiucai thanked him and took Shen Hanxing to where the private school was located.
When Chen Hanxing turned around to look at Wen Zhenyi, he found that she was waving goodbye to him. He raised his hand as well and waved goodbye to her.
Mrs. Wen sold the last portion of fried pork liver. Everything was sold out for the day. "Everyone, today's ingredients are sold out. Thank you all for your support."
"Auntie, will you still sell it tomorrow?"
Old Lady Wen turned to look at Wen Zhenyi: "Yiyi, will you come tomorrow?"
Wen Zhenyi smiled and nodded.
Everyone got the answer, and the crowd slowly dispersed.
Wen Chengwen and Ma Yinghe waited for the crowd to disperse before they saw the newcomer and hurried over: "Mom, I just saw Liu Si. There were too many people and we couldn't squeeze in. I hope he didn't give you any trouble."
"No, we'll talk about this later when we get back." He looked at the stall and asked, "Are they all sold out?"
Wen Chengwen smiled and said, "It's sold out a long time ago. We wanted to squeeze in, but we couldn't get in. We can only wait for you outside."
Wen Zhenyi stretched her body a bit. This body still needed exercise. This morning, she was almost exhausted.
Seeing that she was tired, Ma Yinghe took the initiative to clean up the pots and pans.
Old Lady Wen touched her head and said, "Yi Yi, do you want to go for a walk in town?"
"good."
Wen Zhenyi wanted to go to the pharmacy to look at some materials and see what was available there.
"Yinghe, take Yiyi to the town for a stroll. Chengwen and I will take care of the rest." As he spoke, he pulled out a bulging purse from his arms and stuffed it into her pocket. "Whatever Yiyi wants, buy her. Don't skimp on it."
Ma Yinghe smiled and agreed, "Okay." After that, she took Wen Zhenyi's hand and walked towards the market.
They closed their stall early today, and many stalls in the market were still selling a lot of things.
Wen Zhenyi looked at the wide variety of vegetables in the market, spinach, bamboo shoots, pumpkin, celery, etc., all of which were seasonal vegetables. In addition to these, there were also various meats.
What surprised her most was that there were seafood for sale here. When she passed by here, she could still smell the fishy scent of the sea, but there were fewer people here.
Most people are reluctant to eat it because they find it troublesome to prepare.
Wen Zhenyi saw some clams, which are all wild here. They are delicious when drizzled with oil, stir-fried, or used in soup: "Mom, I want this."
Ma Yinghe looked at the things she pointed at: "Yi Yi, these are all shells, it's very troublesome to deal with them."
"No."
"Okay, I'll buy it for you if you want."
Wen Zhenyi watched Ma Yinghe go to bargain, and then he looked at the things sold around him. There weren't many seafood here, but they were fresh, probably because they were close to the sea.
Ma Yinghe came over carrying a basket of clams: "Let's go."
Wen Zhenyi wanted to take the basket, but Ma Yinghe refused: "You carry it, mother. You are very tired today."
She could only shrug helplessly. There was a wide variety of meat here. There were chickens, ducks, fish, beef, mutton, and pork for sale. In short, the ingredients were definitely richer than one could imagine.
After a walk around, I went to the spice store and bought some seasonings that were used up or spoiled.
"Mom, let's go to the pharmacy."
"What are you going to the pharmacy for?"
"Buy some things."
Ma Yinghe took her to Wanhe Hall, and as soon as she entered, she saw Doctor Wan sitting in the hall reading a book.
Doctor Wan saw the two and stood up. "Sister-in-law Wen, why are you here?" He looked at Yi Yi who was standing beside her and said, "Is it Yi Yi?"
"No, Yi Yi is already fine."
"alright?"
Wen Zhenyi looked at Doctor Wan in front of her. In her impression, apart from her family, Doctor Wan appeared the most times, because she used to have fever and fall ill frequently.
Wen Zhenyi smiled at the man who was about the same age as his father. He had a goatee and always smelled of medicinal herbs. "Uncle Wan."
Doctor Wan's eyes widened: "Really, really good?"
Ma Yinghe smiled and said, "She's definitely recovered. She fell into the river a few days ago and I was worried she wouldn't make it. Who knew she not only did it, but is now fine."
Doctor Wan smiled and said, "Good news, good news. Your family has finally made it through."
Ma Yinghe thought for a moment and said, "Yi Yi, let Doctor Wan take another look at you."
Doctor Wan nodded: "Well, I'll show her again."
Wen Zhenyi did not refuse and sat on the stool opposite his desk with his hand on the pulse pillow.
Doctor Wan placed one hand on her wrist and stroked his beard with the other.
Ma Yinghe stood behind Wen Zhenyi, feeling a little worried.
Doctor Wan asked Wen Zhenyi to switch hands and took her pulse again. He put his hand away and looked at Ma Yinghe with a smile: "Yiyi is fine, she's just a little weak. She'll be fine after resting for a while."
Ma Yinghe's heart finally settled down: "Yi Yi, tell Doctor Wan what you want to buy."
Doctor Wan looked at Wen Zhenyi in surprise: "Yiyi, do you want to buy medicinal herbs?"
"Well, Uncle Wan, do you have any dried figs and olives?"
"Is that all you need?"
"I also want some angelica, ginkgo nuts, jujubes, wolfberries, and codonopsis..."
Doctor Wan frowned when he heard the name she announced and looked at Ma Yinghe: "Who is this in your family?"
"Ever since she recovered, Yiyi has become quite interested in cooking. She said these things can be used to cook, so I accompanied her to buy some."
"These are all things that can be used as medicine. Can they also be used for cooking?"
Wen Zhen nodded: "Sure, I'll send you some when I'm done."
Doctor Wan was skeptical, but he still got up and prescribed medicine for them.
Few of these herbs are very expensive, and the others are relatively cheap.
Wen Zhenyi carried the bag of medicinal herbs, thought for a moment and said, "Mom, let's go buy some rice and flour."
"Don't you have some at home?"
Wen Zhenyi knew that his family was used to being frugal because of his illness: "We'll buy more after we finish eating."
"Okay, let's buy some after we finish eating. Your grandfather and your brothers should be back today." Ma Yinghe missed her two sons a little.
Wen Zhenyi and the others returned to the market. Wen Chengwen had already loaded all the things into the car, and they could go home when they came back.
The three of them walked towards the village, chatting and laughing.
When I got home, the front door was open.
When Mrs. Wen saw him, she smiled and said, "Your grandfather is back." After saying that, she stepped into the yard first.
As soon as I entered the yard, I saw Old Man Wen smoking a pipe with a serious expression on his face and his brows were furrowed.
