Chapter 124 I'll help you first, we'll talk later
Wen Zhenyi was originally worried that people wouldn't like it, but now it seems she was overthinking it.
"Miss Wen, do you have any cool drinks for sale at noon?"
"Yes, today we have brown sugar jelly and cold shrimp."
"Do you still have the fruit drinks from yesterday?"
"I don't have any at the moment, but I'd like to ask if anyone has honey for sale and can send it to me. I'd like to buy some."
"I know someone who told me yesterday that he went to the mountains to dig up a lot of honey and was going to sell it. I'll go back and ask him if he's sold it yet."
"Okay, thank you for your help."
"Miss Wen, you're too polite."
When Shen Hanxing came back, he was accompanied by a child. The child looked somewhat similar to him, but upon closer inspection, there was nothing similar between them.
When Wen Zhenyi looked at little Abu, he was obviously stunned.
Little Abu was wearing a fitted cotton dress. When she saw Wen Zhenyi, she ran to her side and said, "Sister."
Shen Hanxing came over and took the tray from her hand: “I’ll help first, we’ll talk later.”
Wen Zhenyi looked at the little Abu beside him and said, "I'll take you to the backyard and get you some breakfast. Eat first and we'll talk after we're done, okay?"
Little Abu nodded obediently: "Okay."
Wen Zhenyi took him to the backyard and sat him down. He brought him a bowl of rice noodle rolls from the kitchen. "Little Abu, are you allergic to shrimp?"
Little Abu tilted his head and looked at her: "Sister, what is allergy?"
"After eating it, small red spots will appear, it will be itchy, and the whole body will feel uncomfortable."
Little Abu shook his head: "No."
Wen Zhenyi then handed him the chopsticks: "Eat slowly, blow on it if it's hot."
Little Abu nodded and sat obediently on the stool to eat.
After Wen Zhenyi and Shen Hanxing finished their morning work, they closed the shop.
Ma Yinghe and his wife did not come back, probably because they were delayed by something.
Wen Zhenyi looked carefully at Xiao Abu's face and found no flaws at all: "How did you do that?"
Shen Hanxing took a sip of lemon honey water: "Do you know the art of disguise?"
Wen Zhenyi stared at him with eyes wide open: "You know how to disguise yourself."
Shen Hanxing smiled and nodded gently: "My master taught me."
Wen Zhenyi was speechless for a moment. She had originally thought that Shen Hanxing was just a frail scholar, but now it seemed that this guy was not as simple as she thought. "What else did your master teach you?"
"Something interesting."
Wen Zhenyi raised an eyebrow and looked at him. Isn't this guy hiding it a little too deeply?
We can only blame him for his deceptive temperament and appearance. If he hadn't said so, he would have probably fallen into the ditch.
"Where's your master?"
"I'm going to travel, but no one knows what I can do except grandpa. Now that you're here, you have to help me keep the secret."
Wen Zhenyi blinked: "You hid it really well."
Shen Hanxing smiled slightly: “Everyone has secrets, right?”
"You're right."
Little Abu looked at Chen Hanxing, then at Wen Zhenyi, as if he understood something.
Wen Zhenyi was going to stroll around the market and buy some ingredients. "You guys take a break. I'll go take a look at the market."
Shen Hanxing nodded: "Okay."
Little Abu waited until Wen Zhenyi left, then looked at Shen Hanxing: "Brother, do you like my sister?"
Shen Hanxing was slightly stunned and looked at Xiao Abu: "What do you, a little kid, know?"
"I can feel that you treat my sister differently."
Shen Hanxing became interested in his words: "So how can you feel about your sister and me?"
“There are differences.”
Shen Hanxing curled his lips and smiled: "Really?"
"Maybe."
On the other side, in Xinglin Village, Zhu Tao felt very complicated when she returned to Old Zhu's house again.
She bought a thin coffin and, with the help of the villagers, buried Mrs. Zhu and her husband, as well as her younger brother.
Zhu Tao stood by her father's bed, looking at the man who had lost weight rapidly in just a few days, and who still exuded a foul odor.
Zhu Tao's father knew that his time was up, and he suddenly regained consciousness as if from a flash of inspiration. He looked at Dong Li and said, "Village, village chief, have you found my wife?"
Dong Li shook his head: "We went to her parents' home, and they said she hadn't gone back at all. Now we don't know where she went."
"If you catch her, you must put her in jail and get the money back." He looked at Zhu Tao and said, "Leave the money to Zhu Tao."
Dong Li had no hope of finding Zhu Taoniang: "I can only try my best."
Zhu Tao's father looked at Zhu Tao, who had changed a lot and was standing next to him, with a complicated expression: "Tao'er, it's Daddy who is sorry for you, it's Daddy who is sorry for you." As he spoke, tears flowed from his cloudy eyes.
He wanted to pull Zhu Tao's hand, but he couldn't touch it no matter what. In the end, he could only sigh.
Zhu Tao looked at him. She had only heard the name Taoer when she was a child. After her younger brother was born, she never heard it again.
Looking at his drooping hands and his slowly closing eyes, she knew that his father was gone. Her eyes were dry and unbearable, but no tears came out.
Old Mrs. Wen patted her shoulder gently and said, "Little Taozi, go out. Let Grandpa Wen and Uncle Wen clean him up and send him on his way."
Zhu Tao walked out of the room in a daze. Standing in this familiar yet unfamiliar yard, she felt depressed. From today on, she had no relatives.
Ma Yinghe walked over to her and held her in her arms: "Xiao Taozi, from now on you will be my daughter, just like Yi Yi."
Zhu Tao hugged Ma Yinghe and burst into tears.
When Hu Zi's mother and the others saw this, they secretly wiped away their tears. This child has a miserable life.
Old Lady Wen and the other old ladies went home to prepare food. After they asked the servants to help carry Zhu Tao's father and bury him, they could have a good meal.
They've been through a lot these past few days, and the Zhu family is completely ruined.
Zhu Taoniang sold all the valuable things in the house and ran away with the money, leaving only this shabby house, which is not worth much.
Dong Li looked at Zhu Tao and said, "Child, do you still want this house?"
Zhu Tao shook her head: "No, just lock it."
We had dinner at the Wen family's house. Although the Zhu family was not popular, they had been our neighbors for so many years, and it was still sad to see them gone just like that.
Zhu Tao had no appetite, so she ate a few bites of food and went back to her room to lie down.
Ma Yinghe wanted to go and take a look, but Old Lady Wen held her hand and said, "Yinghe, let the child be alone for a while."
Old Man Wen looked at Wen Chengwen and said, "Now that you're back, is there only one person left in the store?"
"Well, we originally planned to rush back early in the morning, but Xiao Taozi's father wasn't home, so I planned to rush back after dinner."
"Go back and help me sell the mop as well."
"Okay, I'll take it back later."
Ma Yinghe gave each villager a bowl of ice-cold lemon, passion fruit and honey water, which made everyone very happy.
