Chapter 293 Hair Dyeing

Chapter 293 Hair Dyeing

Seeing that the two were safe and sound, Lin Changning breathed a sigh of relief and then smiled as she looked at them, waving the pastries in her hand.

"I brought back some food. My current clothes are too worn out, so I also bought a few new outfits."

Yue'er's eyes lit up instantly. Lin Changning stepped forward, spread out the pastries, pinched off a piece and put it into Yue'er's mouth, then put the rest into Li Mingshu's hand.

"Let's eat something to fill our stomachs first, because we'll probably have to walk a bit more."

Li Mingshu keenly sensed that Lin Changning seemed to be in a bad mood. After taking the pastries, she hesitated to speak, glanced at Lin Changning, and noticed that her smile was somewhat forced.

"Has something happened?"

Lin Changning sighed, his face instantly falling. He looked at Li Mingshu, shook his head, and said nothing.

The marks at the doorway and the blood seeping in below clearly indicated that the people she had placed here were likely in grave danger.

The fact that someone is still following them means this hideout is probably no longer safe. If Uncle Gao and his group have already arrived here...

Lin Changning didn't dare to think any further, and silently prayed that Uncle Gao and the others hadn't arrived yet.

However, Lin Changning also understood that this possibility was extremely slim. They had been trekking through the forest for nearly a week, and had lost a lot of time along the way. If Uncle Gao and the others were riding horses, they would definitely be able to surpass her in speed.

"Let's leave after we finish eating. I was followed when I went to the stronghold. There were traces left from a high place outside the door. This place has been discovered and is no longer safe. It's not easy for me to rent a carriage since someone is following me. So, we will most likely have to travel for the next few days."

Li Mingshu frowned slightly and looked at Lin Changning seriously, asking, "Are the others alright? How is Uncle Gao?"

Lin Changning turned his head slightly: "Someone was following me outside the courtyard. They left a mark at the gate, but I didn't dare to go in to check."

Li Mingshu frowned even more, and after speeding up her eating, she urged Yue'er to eat faster.

"Let's hurry to the next place after we finish eating."

Yue'er stuffed two mouthfuls of pastries into her mouth, her cheeks bulging and moving. Li Mingshu watched her daughter wolf down the food, then went behind a tree and took out half a gourd with a little water inside. She handed the gourd to her daughter and watched her drink some water before swallowing the pastries.

"Don't delay, Xiao Liu, let's hurry up and go now."

Lin Changning hummed in agreement, stood up, patted his bottom, and reassured himself that perhaps Uncle Gao and the others had already moved on to the next location. In his nervousness, he quickly left a mark on him, and the blood on his mouth was probably from an enemy wound, so it might not be anything serious.

After convincing himself, Lin Changning looked up at Li Mingshu and said, "It's chilly in the mountains at night. You should wear the new clothes I bought for you."

Li Mingshu nodded to indicate that she understood, and after taking the two pieces of clothing from Lin Changning with her daughter, she limped and led the child to the back of a grove of trees.

Lin Changning changed his clothes on the spot. The cloth strips binding his chest were soaked in blood and turned dark red. He had a faint smell of blood mixed with a muddy smell, which was very unpleasant.

After hesitating for a moment, Lin Changning put the clothes on anyway. After all, this wasn't the time to be particular; a little smell was fine.

After changing her clothes, Lin Changning waited quietly outside the woods. Soon, rustling sounds came from inside the woods. Li Mingshu led Yue'er out of the woods and glanced at the simply dressed Lin Changning, and was stunned for a moment.

Lin Changning looked at Li Mingshu's completed woman's hairstyle and nodded silently: "Let's go, let's hurry on our way."

As she spoke, she took Yue'er from Li Mingshu's arms. Yue'er nestled obediently on Lin Changning's shoulder, looking at her mother with her eyes wide open.

"Mother?"

Li Mingshu nodded to Lin Changning: "Let's go."

Lin Changning bent down and tilted her head to the side, saying, "Come on, sister, I'll carry you so we can walk faster."

Li Mingshu paused, then shook her head, rejecting Lin Changning's idea: "I can walk by myself. You can hold Yue'er for me."

Upon hearing this, Lin Changning stopped worrying and, carrying Yue'er, led the way into the depths of the forest. It would take quite some time to walk from here to the next city.

They don't have much time to waste.

Lin Changning carried Yue'er and walked hurriedly ahead, while Li Mingshu endured the pain in her feet and followed behind Lin Changning step by step, without stopping or complaining of the pain.

By the time they reached the sky, it was completely dark. Lin Changning looked at Li Mingshu, who was sweating profusely and lagging far behind them, and put Yue'er down.

Looking back at Li Mingshu, he shook his head helplessly.

Yue'er didn't quite understand what had happened, but she could sense that Lin Changning wasn't in a good mood. After being put down, she held onto Lin Changning's clothes with her little hands and quietly watched her mother slowly catch up behind her.

"Mother!"

After catching her breath, Li Mingshu looked at the two people waiting for her in front of her, breathed a sigh of relief, and wiped the sweat from her forehead.

Why did it suddenly stop?

Lin Changning immediately stepped forward and carried Li Mingshu on her back: "There's no need to be stubborn at a time like this, sister."

After saying that, he carried Li Mingshu on his back, walked to Yue'er, patted Yue'er's head, and said, "Thank you for your hard work, Yue'er. You can walk a bit first."

Li Mingshu lay on Lin Changning's back, her face slightly flushed. She really didn't want to be a burden to Lin Changning. Every time Changning carried her, she could feel that their walking speed would be much slower.

Lin Changning carried the person for a while and saw an abandoned house in the woods not far away.

His brow relaxed a little, and he put Li Mingshu down directly: "There are houses ahead. We can rest for today and continue our journey tomorrow."

The two were just young ladies raised in seclusion, and they were almost exhausted from traveling day and night to take care of her. The princess had blisters on her feet, and Yue'er was probably not feeling well either.

Leading the people into the somewhat dilapidated thatched hut, Lin Changning looked around and found that apart from a bed and a broken table, there was nothing else in the hut.

It looks like a place where hunters in the mountains take a temporary rest.

After checking the surroundings, Lin Changning breathed a sigh of relief and told Li Mingshu and Yue'er to rest assured. He then hugged his long sword and stood guard at the door, leaning against the door frame and falling asleep.

The moon's white hair was too conspicuous. After thinking about it for a day, she decided to go to the water's edge during the day to look for indigo. Too much time had passed, and she had forgotten most of her knowledge.

However, I do remember that there are quite a few herbs that can be juiced and applied to the hair to dye gray hair, so I can't help but try them out more often...
