Chapter 20 What's Wrong with the People in This World?

Seeing An Yiyao speechless for the first time, An Jianwen laughed softly.

But he was the one who brought the person here, so he couldn't let An Yiyao be unable to attend class.

"Yi Yao, please ask for leave from the teacher for me later. I will make up the application tomorrow." Then he looked at An Ci, "Young Master, let's go first."

"Yeah." An Ci let go of An Yiyao's hand.

An Jianwen packed his schoolbag and picked up his coat hanging on the back of the chair. With a big movement, a small medicine bag fell out of his pocket.

An Ci picked it up quickly, and when he got close to it, he smelled it. The small medicine bag gave off a faint scent of heart-breaking powder.

She raised her head and looked at An Jianwen in feigned confusion, "What is this?"

An Jianwen threw his schoolbag over his shoulder and said, "It's a medicine bag to repel mosquitoes."

He didn't know what was wrong with him because mosquitoes attracted him everywhere he went. In order to avoid being stung, he had to carry a mosquito repellent bag with him.

"Let's go."

An Ci nodded, returned the medicine bag to him, and the two left together.

An Yiyao looked at the direction the two of them left with a puzzled look on his face.

When did they become so close?

On the way back, An Ci's gaze slipped across An Jianwen's coat inconspicuously.

She asked him, "Brother Wen, your medicine bag is so beautiful, where did you buy it?"

"I didn't buy it. My mother had it sewn for me." Thinking she liked it, An Jianwen said, "I have a few more. If you like it, I'll give you one."

An Ci listened and didn't bother to be polite with him, "Okay, thank you Brother Wen."

An Jianwen smiled, "Then I'll give it to you tomorrow."

The two of them walked back talking and laughing. An Jianwen originally planned to see her to the door and leave, but he was pulled in by An Ci.

When his eyes accidentally caught sight of the piano in the living room, An Jianwen suddenly couldn't walk anymore.

An Ci was squatting and playing with Fugui. When he looked up, he saw An Jianwen's distracted profile.

Following his gaze, she saw the piano placed opposite and raised her eyebrows.

"Brother Wen, do you like piano?"

An Jianwen regained consciousness and said in a low voice, "I like it."

Not only piano, but violin is also his favorite. However, his family does not allow him to focus too much on music. They want him to study hard and inherit the family business in the future.

When he mentioned the piano, his eyes lit up, and An Ci walked up to him and pulled him away.

"Xiao Ci, what are you doing?" At An Ci's request, An Jianwen finally changed his words and called her Xiao Ci.

"I can't play." An Ci helped him sit in front of the piano, then moved a small stool over and sat down. "Brother Wen, please teach me."

An Jianwen looked at the piano in front of him, his father's stern face flashed through his mind, and the light in his eyes gradually faded.

He said, “…I can’t play.”

An Ci looked at him puzzledly, "Why?"

"My father won't let me."

Not only did he not allow it, he also smashed all the musical instruments in his room.

An Jianwen's hands hanging by his side curled up slightly.

An Ci was stunned. Don’t parents nowadays like their children to be multi-talented?

"Why not?"

Everyone has a mouth, so if you don’t understand, ask.

An Jianwen lowered his eyes and was silent for a moment. He said in a low voice, "He said learning a musical instrument is a waste of time and not a proper job."

An Ci died speechless.

absurd.

What's wrong with people in this world who are talking about idleness with a ten-year-old?

"Who said this is a waste of time?" She patted her leg, and the next second she heard An Jianwen gasp.

"hiss--"

It turned out that she took a picture of the wrong leg.

An Ci smiled wryly and slowly withdrew her hand. "It was a mistake." Then she got back to the point. "If learning an instrument is a waste of time, then what are all those great musicians? If you like it, then stick with it. Don't worry about what others say."

As she spoke, she grabbed his hand and placed it on the piano. "If you like it, then play it. If your father won't let you, we can just play it secretly."

An Jianwen was slightly startled, and when he met the child's smiling eyes, his heart inexplicably warmed.

He loves music, but no one stands by him and supports him. His parents only force him to study and become what they want him to be. They never consider his feelings or whether he likes it.

Only she said: "If you like it, you must stick to it."

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone, so you can play it without worry." An Ci blinked, his smile revealing a bit of cunning.

"The soundproofing here is very good, no one can hear Fugui even if he shouts loudly."

An Jianwen was amused by her sly smile. He was inexplicably excited to see the piano again after half a year.

"What do you want to hear?"

An Ci leaned his upper body against the piano legs, supporting his chin with one hand, and said in an indescribably lazy way, "Whatever."

Upon hearing this, An Jianwen immediately thought of a song and placed his slender fingers on the piano keys. The next second, a cheerful melody flowed out from his fingertips.

An Ci narrowed his eyes in enjoyment. It did sound a bit nice.

She raised her eyebrows slightly and saw the boy's smiling face. There was no longer the sadness as when they first met, but a kind of happiness that came from the heart.

After he finished playing a song, An Ci asked again: "Brother Wen, can you play another one?"

It had been a long time since An Jianwen had touched the piano, and his addiction to music came up, and he nodded without hesitation.

This time he played and hummed at the same time, his voice was gentle, with a bit of boyish innocence, and had a unique charm.

An Ci didn't know what song he was singing, but that didn't stop her from listening. The more she listened, the more she felt that An Jianwen had a talent for music.

To use a popular saying on the Internet: "God is chasing me and feeding me."

After playing four songs in a row, An Jianwen finally stopped. Looking at the time on the clock, he found that it was already past eleven o'clock. He smiled embarrassedly.

"It's too late, I should go." He stood up.

Aunt Hong said, "Master Jianwen, I'll have someone take you back."

"It's okay, I can do it myself." An Jianwen looked at An Ci and said, "I'll give you the medicine bag tomorrow."

An Ci smiled and said ok.

After sending An Jianwen away, Aunt Hong looked at An Ci and asked curiously, "Young Master, what medicine bag?"

An Ci exclaimed, "It's for mosquito repellent."

She yawned and leaned lazily against Aunt Hong, "Aunt Hong, I'm sleepy."

Seeing her eyelids drooping, Aunt Hong couldn't help laughing and reached out to pick her up. "You have to take a shower even if you are sleepy. Look at how dirty your clothes are."

They've all turned into little dirty cats.
