Chapter 1159 Final Chapter (3)

Zhu Rong took my hand.

I shoved her away abruptly, and she stumbled and almost fell to the ground. I felt a little guilty, but I still didn't reach out to help her.

She looked at me, her eyes filled with disappointment.

"I'm sorry, I..." I explained to her in a low voice, "I don't like other people touching me."

"But Miss Huo can, can't she?"

My heart skipped a beat.

Just a moment ago, my mind was filled with images of Yuan Yuan.

"Meng Yan, you still can't let her go, can you?"

I frowned; her question seemed to have crossed a line.

"Is this something a psychologist should be asking?"

“A friend asked me this,” Zhu Rong said, her head down. “I thought that after all this time, you considered me a friend.”

“Zhu Rong…” I sighed, “There is no question of letting go between us.”

"What's the meaning?"

“We have an agreement.”

"Does your agreement still stand?" Zhu Rong asked, her voice trembling with emotion. "You don't actually think she'll come back, do you?"

"What did you say?"

I was stunned, and my mind suddenly went blank.

“I’m from the Huo family’s medical team. I think I know more about some things about the Huo family than you do.” Zhu Rong looked at me. “Mr. and Mrs. Huo will not let Miss Huo come back! She not only has to study in Southeast Asia, but also work there to become the exclusive designer for the Southeast Asian royal family. As you know, the Yin family in Southeast Asia is the same family as Miss Huo’s grandmother, and the Yin family’s influence in the royal family is extraordinary!”

My heart felt like it had been struck hard; a strange, sharp pain spread from my chest to every part of my body.

Southeast Asia is a place I never want to touch in my life, and a place I can never go back to in my life.

If Yuan Yuan doesn't come back...

I took two steps back and tried to calm myself down with deep breaths.

“Meng Yan, think about it carefully,” Zhu Rong said again. “To be frank, Miss Huo is a princess in the clouds, and she and we… are not from the same world.”

After saying that, she turned and left.

My ears were ringing, and there was always some static.

After I got home, I sat alone for a long time.

The lights weren't turned on, but two bottles of red wine were opened. The second bottle was emptied, but I wasn't drunk at all.

My mind is filled with memories of the days after I met Yuan Yuan.

When she first arrived in Biandu, she was so arrogant and fearless, but after seeing the darkness of Biandu, she was utterly broken...

And then there's her unreasonable behavior in front of me, her pickiness, and her spoiled, princess-like temper.

These memories feel like they happened just yesterday.

I smiled and downed the last glass in one gulp, when suddenly I tasted bitterness on my lips. I froze, then instinctively wiped my eyes with my hand.

It was tears.

I buried my face in my hands, unable to hold back any longer.

...

I don't know when I fell asleep that night, but when I woke up early the next morning, I suddenly heard a noise coming from the kitchen.

I'm always on guard, so I grabbed a small handgun that I usually use and tiptoed toward the kitchen.

However, it was Zhu Rong who came out of the kitchen carrying a pot of porridge.

When she saw me, she smiled and gestured for me to come and have breakfast.

I was a little lost.

"What, you thought a thief broke into the house?" She saw the gun in my hand. "I was worried about you last night, so I came to check on you."

I put the gun away, but I was very unhappy.

How did you get in?

"Doesn't your assistant have the key?"

"Didn't my assistant tell you that I don't like people coming into my home?!"

My voice was rather stern, and my expression was probably quite unpleasant as well.

Zhu Rong stood there, her face flushing red and then turning pale, biting her lip tightly.

She had already prepared a table full of breakfast. Perhaps not knowing what I liked to eat, she made both Chinese and Western dishes, which were nutritious, colorful, and delicious.

But even after watching it, I just couldn't feel happy.

“Meng Yan…” her voice choked with emotion, “You keep saying you don’t like others touching you, you don’t like others coming into your house, you don’t like this or that… but why…”

"Why can Huo Jiayuan be one?" I raised my voice. "Because I like her!"

Zhu Rong looked up at me, her eyes red.

"Do you understand?" I said, emphasizing each word. "I love her. Whether she comes back or not, I will only love her for the rest of my life! I'm hypocritical, I treat others one way and her another, but that's because I love her! Things that others can't touch, I want her to touch; houses that others can't enter, I just want her to be here every day!"

At that moment, I didn't know what was wrong with me; maybe I was still drunk from last night.

I also know how much these words hurt Zhu Rong.

She did nothing wrong, and she's a good person. She just fell for the wrong person at the wrong time.

"Meng Yan, you like her so much, but what about her?" Zhu Rong gritted her teeth, "Does she like you just as much?"

I turned away and didn't say anything.

"She won't come back!" Zhu Rong shouted.

“I told you, it doesn’t matter,” I growled.

"So if she marries someone else, would it still matter?"

I was startled and turned to look at her abruptly.

"What did you say?"

"Why do you think the Huo family insisted on keeping her in Southeast Asia?" Zhu Rong wiped away her tears. "It's because the Huo family had already found a perfect son-in-law!"

"After Miss Huo completes her studies in Southeast Asia, she will become a designer for the royal family, and then marry that boy under the arrangement of the royal family! Do you know who that boy is? It is said that he is the son of a prince of the royal family... and also a young master with a title!"

“Meng Yan, she and you are from different worlds. You and I are the ones who are…”

"Enough!"

I sternly stopped her from continuing.

She fell silent and just looked at me quietly.

In that instant, I was in a state of confusion. Suddenly, I heard Yuan Yuan's words to me before she left: "Meng Yan, you must wait for me to come back!"

I know there may be no future between us.

But I have been working hard for our future.

"Meng Yan, are you... are you alright?" Zhu Rong gently placed her hand on my shoulder, but quickly withdrew it.

“You might not believe me,” she chuckled self-deprecatingly, “but every word I said is true. My teacher is a core member of the Huo family’s medical team and is quite close to Mr. and Mrs. Huo. When she examined Mrs. Huo, these words were spoken by Mrs. Huo herself. I’m not lying to you!”

"Okay." After a while, I said softly, "Since you're so honest with me, I'll be honest with you about something too."

"What?"

“You always say that Yuan Yuan and I are from different worlds.” I smiled. “Actually, you’re wrong.”

“Meng Yan, you…”

"I'm from the same world as her. Not with you."

Zhu Rong's expression changed, and she stared at me blankly.

I chuckled. If I were in Southeast Asia, my military achievements would place me far above that little prince.

All of this is predicated on my return to Southeast Asia, back to my nightmare.
