Chapter 253 Desert Island

Jiang Can fell into the icy seawater.

She felt surrounded by darkness, and no matter how hard she struggled, she couldn't escape the cold and salty atmosphere.

She tried to call for help, but her nose and mouth were firmly blocked by seawater, and a feeling of suffocation and despair crept up her heart...

Someone took her hand in the darkness.

She mistook him for Huo Zhixing and gripped his hand tightly. However, this man's hand wasn't as thick as Huo Zhixing's, but it was still very strong… Jiang Can's mind went blank, and in a daze, she heard someone repeatedly calling "Can Can"…

She coughed violently and vomited a lot of water before slowly waking up.

Two anxious faces came into view.

"You're finally awake!" Huo Zhixing carefully helped her up.

Jiang Can then realized that she was lying on a beach.

The storm had passed, the sun had risen, the sea shimmered, and the surroundings were calm, yet it was an unfamiliar scene.

"Where...is this place?" Jiang Can asked blankly.

Seeing Huo Zhixing's disheveled appearance, she realized that Yin Ruohong beside him was in no better shape.

As she regained her composure and recalled the scene from before, she couldn't help but feel a chill run down her spine.

"Are we safe now?" she grabbed Huo Zhixing. "Can we go home now...?"

"Can Can." Huo Zhixing's voice was low as he glanced at her, carefully choosing his words, "We're afraid... we won't be able to go home for a while."

"What?"

“The yacht veered off course, and we were swept here by the wind and waves,” Yin Ruohong explained. “And this place is completely unfamiliar to us.”

Jiang Can's heart skipped a beat, as if she had stepped into an abyss.

"Can Can, don't be afraid." Huo Zhixing hugged her. "I'm trying to get in touch with them. With something this big happening, the Bai family won't just sit idly by, and the Huo family will also send people out to look for us."

“But before anyone comes to rescue us,” Yin Ruohong said in a deep voice, “we have to survive here first!”

Jiang Can and Huo Zhixing exchanged a glance, their eyes dimming.

“You weren’t awake yet, so I had Huo Zhixing watch over you while I walked around the area,” Yin Ruohong said. “This should be a small island, not very big, and there’s no one around.”

"So, we've been washed ashore on a deserted island?"

"I guess so." Yin Ruohong looked at her daughter with eyes full of affection.

I never imagined that the opportunity to spend time with her would come from a shipwreck.

The yacht was on the beach not far away, its hull damaged by the wind and waves.

Huo Zhixing looked around and whispered, "Let's go inside and take shelter. I see there's a grove of trees here; it would be troublesome if there were any wild animals."

Yin Ruohong agreed, and the group boarded the yacht with faltering steps.

There was a room in the cabin that looked like a conference room. They went in and sat down first. Huo Zhixing calmed down and said, "This yacht isn't big, but Lao Bai always buys the best things, so I guess there should be a lot of useful things on board."

“Yes, we need to find something to eat,” Jiang Can said softly. “And water… If there’s no fresh water on the island, we’ll probably have to think of other ways.”

Huo Zhixing looked at her and gently smiled.

I didn't expect her to calm down so quickly.

“If we’re going to stay on the island for a while,” Jiang Can thought for a moment, “we can stay on this yacht! It’s a bit damaged, but at least it’ll be a place to shelter from the wind and rain.”

"Yes, that's right." Huo Zhixing tidied her messy hair.

Yin Ruohong sat silently to the side the whole time.

A moment later, Jiang Can noticed the injury on his face and said softly, "Uncle, you rest first. We can do the looking for things."

"No need." Yin Ruohong stood up. "My injury isn't serious, and I'm a doctor, so I can handle myself."

Then the group split up and went their separate ways.

Sure enough, they found a lot of food in the storage room below the cabin.

The bedding in the bedroom was all brand new, and the small kitchen was fully equipped with all the necessities for daily life.

Jiang Can also found compressed biscuits and instant food in the cupboard.

"It's small but perfectly formed!" she laughed. "Now we don't have to worry anymore."

Huo Zhixing looked around. "It seems there's no electricity."

At that moment, a sound came from the cockpit.

The two quickly walked over and saw Yin Ruohong studying an instruction manual. He pressed a button, and with a beep, the lights in the cabin suddenly turned on.

“This is the control circuit.” Yin Ruohong looked at the two of them. “I guess there is still some electricity in the yacht, but not much. If you use it sparingly, it should last for a while.”

Jiang Can nodded and went to rummage through the first-aid kit.

Huo Zhixing did not follow them out, but turned to look at Yin Ruohong.

“Chairman Yin,” he said in a low voice, “we are truly in the same boat now.”

Yin Ruohong glanced at him and mumbled an agreement.

“You saved me,” Huo Zhixing said, looking at him. “I am very grateful to you.”

"So let's put aside any grudges we may have now."

“Heh,” Yin Ruohong sneered, “As long as you can take good care of her, I have no grudges against you.”

Huo Zhixing narrowed his eyes slightly, "President Yin seems to care a lot about Can Can?"

Yin Ruohong didn't reply, but went up to the deck and looked at the sea in the distance.

“Huo Zhixing,” he said in a low voice, “there’s no cell phone signal here, so how long do you think it will take them to find this place?”

"I have little confidence in the Huo family," Huo Zhixing said with a faint smile. "Second Uncle will do everything he can to buy time."

"Does Huo Zhanhe really want to kill you?"

Huo Zhixing retorted, "President Yin, when dealing with a thorn in your side, shouldn't you eliminate the threat completely?"

Yin Ruohong snorted lightly. It seemed that this son-in-law was not so stupid after all, and understood the wickedness of people's hearts.

“So when you get back, you need to seize the opportunity to bring down Huo Zhanhe.” Yin Ruohong paused, then said softly, “I will help you too.”

Huo Zhixing was taken aback, and his gaze toward Yin Ruohong became somewhat complicated.

“Let’s go around the island one more time,” Yin Ruohong patted his shoulder. “We might be able to find fresh water in the woods.”

“Okay,” Huo Zhixing nodded, “I’ll go call Can Can.”

There were clean clothes in the yacht's bedroom, but they were all a bit too big for Jiang Can. She managed to find two pieces to change into, and then took the rest of her clothes to Huo Zhixing and Yin Ruohong.

Then the group left the cabin and walked along the beach.

The island isn't large; you can walk around it in two hours. It's densely forested, has a pleasant climate, and fresh air; it might become a very popular tourist destination.

Jiang Can walked through the woods, occasionally hearing the calls of small animals.

"Could there really be wild animals here?" she asked Huo Zhixing.

The man chuckled softly, "It's alright, I have a gun. I'll hold you while we sleep tonight, don't worry about wild animals breaking in."

Upon hearing this, Yin Ruohong, who was in front, froze in his tracks and turned around with a gloomy expression.

“There are plenty of empty rooms on the yacht,” he said in a deep voice. “You two don’t need to squeeze into one room!”
