Huo Zhixing was taken aback. "President Yin, is this... something you're going to get involved in too?"
"What? I can't interfere?" Yin Ruohong glared at him. "I am..."
He stopped mid-sentence, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.
He coughed twice. "Aren't you two not married yet? Sleeping together before marriage, what kind of behavior is that!"
Huo Zhixing glared at him with a displeased expression.
Yin Ruohong didn't know why, but sometimes she found him agreeable, but most of the time she didn't.
I only find him agreeable because of Jiang Can.
"Zhixing!" Jiang Can ran ahead and waved excitedly at him, "Come and see!"
"What's wrong?"
"Is this a mountain spring?" Jiang Can said with a smile. "I think it flows down from the mountain."
"So, there is fresh water here!" Huo Zhixing laughed, then looked around carefully, and quietly came to a tree.
"What's wrong?"
“This kind of tree also exists in the central city…” He pondered for a moment, “which means that this place is actually not far from the central city.”
"Old Bai and the others should be able to find this place soon."
“Hmm.” Yin Ruohong nodded. “The climate here is very similar to that of Yangcheng. I’ve seen a map of Yangcheng, and there are indeed several small islands on the outskirts of the city, but they haven’t been developed yet.”
"We are very likely on one of those islands!"
Huo Zhixing met his gaze and saw a hint of a smile in his eyes.
With renewed confidence, the group returned to their cabin and discussed what they should do while waiting for rescue.
Since they couldn't tell the time, Jiang Can suggested carving a line on the table every day.
The ship had enough supplies, so they took advantage of the good sunshine to air out their bedding on the deck.
They don't use electricity except when necessary.
Jiang Can tried everything she could to make the food as delicious as possible.
Three days passed by in the blink of an eye.
A cool night breeze blew as Yin Ruohong sat on the deck, gazing into the distance. The moonlight was as clear as water, serene and gentle; it seemed like it had been a long time since he had seen a moon like this.
Suddenly he heard footsteps behind him. He turned around and saw Huo Zhixing walking over with a blanket.
"It's still quite cold at night," he said softly. "Here, take this."
Yin Ruohong was somewhat surprised.
"Don't look at me like that." Huo Zhixing scoffed lightly. "Cancan asked me to bring it."
“Can Can…”
"I can call you that name, but you can't!" Huo Zhixing's face darkened.
Yin Ruohong wasn't angry; she simply nodded slightly.
The moment he took the blanket, a barely perceptible smile flickered across his face.
Huo Zhixing sat down on the ground next to him, holding two cans of beer in his hand.
"Drinking too much alcohol is bad for your health." Yin Ruohong pursed her lips. "Also, I can tell you're quite a smoker. Did you secretly hide that pack of cigarettes we found in the cabin?"
Huo Zhixing's expression changed.
"Never mind, I won't tell Jiang Can," Yin Ruohong smiled. "But you should be careful too."
"Yeah, I know." The answer was perfunctory.
"You know nothing!" Yin Ruohong looked at him disdainfully. "You can only protect Jiang Can if you protect yourself first!"
"President Yin," Huo Zhixing opened a can of beer, looking at him with a complicated expression, "why are you so concerned about Can Can?"
"Heh, you're not jealous, are you?" Yin Ruohong pursed her lips. "You don't think that I'm old enough to have ulterior motives towards Jiang Can, do you?"
"It's not impossible," Huo Zhixing said deliberately. "With your high position, what kind of woman can't you have!"
"You...you actually think of me as such a sleazy person?"
"Of course not." Huo Zhixing smiled. "I think your attitude towards Cancan is more like that of an elder towards a junior."
Yin Ruohong remained silent.
"President Yin," Huo Zhixing asked tentatively, "Cancan said that your children are not with you? Where are they now?"
"Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask." Yin Ruohong's face fell. "Take care of the people around you first!"
...
Bai Jingyuan has been frantically searching for people these past few days.
The Bai family had already given him a severe dressing down over this matter, but even he himself didn't know how two of Huo Zhanhe's men had managed to infiltrate the yacht, or how it had deviated from its planned course and plunged headlong into the deep sea.
Unfortunately, there was a storm at sea that day.
But now the ship can't be located and he can't contact the phone, so he sent people to search several small islands around Yangcheng.
That day, he went to the hospital, intending to try his luck and see if Shen Xiao had received Huo Zhixing's message. However, at the corner of the corridor, he saw a pale and thin figure.
That profile view is beautiful yet sorrowful, it breaks your heart.
Bai Jingyuan was momentarily stunned, as if struck by a blunt object, his mind going blank. It wasn't until the girl had walked away that he snapped back to reality and chased after her.
"Wan Yin? Wan Yin!"
Go around it, and the person will disappear.
Bai Jingyuan, panting and somewhat disappointed, looked at the empty corridor and was about to leave when a familiar figure suddenly appeared before him.
"Yao Manning?"
"Long time no see, Young Master Bai!"
Bai Jingyuan didn't want to talk to her, so he forced a smile.
"Were you looking for someone just now?"
"Oh...no, no." Bai Jingyuan said as he turned around. "You go ahead with your work, I'll be going now."
"Hey!" Yao Manning called out to him, a cold smile playing on her lips. "Is the person you're looking for named Wan Yin?"
Bai Jingyuan was taken aback. "How did you know?"
“You shouted so loudly, the whole hospital could hear you.”
"You know Wan Yin?" Bai Jingyuan looked at her with suspicion.
Yao Manning smiled and nodded gently.
Tell me where she is!
“She… has been dead for a long time!” Yao Manning said without changing her expression. “Young Master Bai, I was wondering why you were calling out that name when you were talking about a dead person.”
Bai Jingyuan's eyes widened in disbelief. "Dead...?"
It was as if a thunderbolt struck from the sky, shattering his already chaotic mind into a blank.
He remembered that night, the girl's pale face and paper-thin body.
I remember her saying that she was someone who stole time from Death...
Bai Jingyuan suddenly jolted awake.
“Wanyin was actually my younger sister,” Yao Manning said softly. “But she had a congenital disease and is already dead. Young Master Bai, how do you know that name? You haven’t seen a ghost, have you?”
Bai Jingyuan took two steps back and remained silent.
Yao Manning sneered and turned to walk in the opposite direction.
Passing by a storage room, she looked around to make sure no one was following her before opening the door and going inside.
Yao Wanyin sat on the cold floor, her eyes filled with fear.
"Good sister, you're really amazing!" Yao Manning lifted her chin, her bright red nails digging into her flesh. "Now you can even hook up with Young Master Bai. I really underestimated you!"
