"No! No!"
Lu Ran seemed to be in a nightmare from which she could not wake up, covering her ears and screaming in terror.
She wanted to escape, but an invisible hand always grabbed her tightly, throwing her into the mud, never to be reborn.
"You little bitch! You're just like your mother, a brainless piece of trash! You had the chance to enjoy endless wealth and luxury, but you insisted on giving it away! Useless piece of trash!"
"Shut up!" Lu Ran lunged forward, pounding her fist on the glass like a madwoman. "You beast! It's all your fault! My mother was all because of you! If you hadn't toyed with her and bullied her back then, she wouldn't have developed some kind of personality disorder... Now she's dead, are you satisfied now!"
"What?" Lu Ming was stunned for a moment, then burst into laughter that grew louder and louder.
The prison guards gave him several warnings to no avail, so they simply pushed him back inside. A female prison guard outside gently patted Lu Ran's shoulder, gesturing for her to sit down.
Just as Lu Ming was about to be pushed behind the iron gate, he suddenly turned around, his eyes like the abyss of hell.
"Ah, Ranran, you are my daughter!"
"Lu Lishan and his wife will not treat you sincerely; one day they will abandon you!"
"How about we, the three of us, meet in hell? Hahahaha..."
"Get out!" Lu Ran lost control of her emotions again, and it took two prison guards to hold her down.
The cold room fell silent, and her sobs filled every corner of the room.
After an unknown amount of time, she was taken out of the detention center.
The sky outside was blue and the sun was shining brightly, but she felt cold, from head to toe, from body to heart, as if she had fallen into an ice cave.
Just then, Huo Junyang called her. Before she could even speak, a cheerful laugh came from the other end.
"Ranran, guess what gift I prepared for you?"
Lu Ran gave a wry smile and said softly, "I don't know."
"Take a guess. Here's a hint..."
"Junyang," Lu Ran said weakly, "I don't want to guess."
“Alright,” Huo Junyang said with a smile, “Since you don’t want to guess, then I’m not going to tell you that I’ve prepared a litter of kittens for you! Hahaha…”
Lu Ran's heart tightened, and her hand holding the phone trembled slightly.
Once, she casually mentioned wanting to raise a kitten, but Huo Junyang took it to heart.
Her eyes reddened, tears suddenly streamed down her face, and her voice choked with sobs, unable to utter a single word.
"Ranran, don't you like kittens? A friend of mine has a lot of cute little silver shaded kittens. I brought the whole litter over!"
"You pick your favorite one, and we'll raise them together, okay?"
"Ranran? Ranran!" After not hearing a response for a long time, Huo Junyang became a little anxious. "What's wrong with you?"
Lu Ran sniffed and reluctantly told him that she was fine.
"Your voice sounds off! Where are you? I'm coming right now..."
"No need, Junyang!" Lu Ran stammered, "I... I'm just a little touched that you take every word I say to heart. You're the best person in the world to me."
"Silly girl, what are you saying!" Huo Junyang chuckled. "You're my future wife, isn't it only natural for me to be good to you?"
"Junyang..."
"Alright, tell me where you are! I'll come pick you up right away and take you to my house to see the kitten!"
"Really, it's not necessary." Lu Ran felt a warmth in her heart. "I'll go to your house myself."
*
After hanging up the phone, Lu Ran rushed to the Huo family's house.
Huo Junyang no longer needs crutches. The doctor said this is not only because of his good physical condition, but also because of his positive and optimistic attitude.
So Huo Junyang finally had something to brag about, and he would often pat his chest in front of his parents, brother, and sister-in-law, saying, "You used to think I only knew how to laugh like an idiot! But look at me now! A smile makes you ten years younger! A good mood is the panacea for all diseases!"
However, since Cheng Suyue died, Lu Ran's smile has disappeared, and Huo Junyang's smiles have also become less frequent.
Lu Ran arrived at the Huo family's residence. Although Huo Junyang had his own place to live, Jiang Can insisted that he stay with her so that she could take care of him, because of his injury.
At this moment, Huo Junyang was sitting on the sofa, with a litter of silver shaded kittens on the coffee table, meowing sweetly, which melted one's heart.
Huo Junyang was worried that the kittens were too small to drink milk, so he prepared several bottles and carefully fed them with the bottles after filling them with milk. This kind of delicate work was not suitable for him, and he was drenched in sweat after only a short while. When he looked up and saw Lu Ran standing there, he smiled and said, "Ranran, come here quickly!"
"Look how cute they are!" Huo Junyang laughed, gently wiping away the milk stains from the kitten's mouth with a soft cotton cloth.
Lu Ran couldn't help but praise them, "You take such good care of them."
"What's the big deal?" Huo Junyang smiled. "They're still so small, of course we should treat them gently! By the way, which one do you like? If you like them all, we can keep them all. My friend is very generous!"
Which friend?
"You should have seen her before. She's Uncle Bai's youngest daughter!"
Lu Ran thought for a moment, and it seemed like she had met him at a banquet. Uncle Bai's name was Bai Jingyuan, and he had a close relationship with Huo Zhixing and Lu Lishan.
It is said that Bai Jingyuan's wife has always been in poor health, but the young lady of the Bai family is full of energy and behaves gracefully at the banquet, which makes her very popular with the elders.
"You..." Lu Ran hesitated for a moment before asking, "You've been getting quite close to her?"
"Huh?" Huo Junyang was taken aback. "It's alright, we've all played together since we were little... Hehe, what are you thinking about now?"
