Chapter 6 The Inquisitor
It was already eleven o'clock in the morning when Duan Ke woke up.
He had been properly dressed in pajamas, his golden brown curly hair was a mess in his sleep, and he was holding a green dinosaur doll that was bigger than him in his arms. He leaned against the headboard with a blank expression, recalling what happened last night.
The memory seemed to be chopped into pieces, and Duan Ke only remembered a few vague fragments.
In my memory, Qin Huai's voice was low and he was calm throughout, but he didn't sound cold.
When Duan Ke drank too quickly and almost choked, Qin Huai pinched his chin to stop him, and repeatedly coaxed him to drink slowly. He let go only after making sure that Duan Ke listened; when Duan Ke was about to faint, Qin Huai put his palm on Duan Ke's forehead to make sure that he was just too tired and not had a high fever, then he picked him up and brought him into the bedroom.
Duan Ke squeezed the soft dinosaur in his hand a little tighter, and his flexible soft tongue searched in his mouth a few times. He did not taste any residual blood, only the sweet taste of orange candy.
It's his toothpaste.
...It seems that Qin Huai was kind enough to help him brush his teeth later.
Unfortunately, he was completely unconscious at that time. Duan Ke had no recollection of how Qin Huai had carefully cleaned his limp body after he fainted in the bathroom.
Duan Ke has been in the human world for three years, but his close contact with humans is very limited, and he has almost no experience in dealing with these things.
The three roommates he was more familiar with were quite close to him, but they were just friends, far from the level of helping him put on clothes, comforting him so that he wouldn't cry, and brushing his teeth.
But Duan Ke likes to watch videos about small animals. He has observed that humans are very attentive to their kittens. Not only do they try every possible way to get water or medicine when the cats don't want to eat, but they also comb their kittens' fur and brush their teeth.
So this human thinks of himself as a kitten in human form and helps with these things, which means he agrees to be his own owner, right?
It must be like this!
It seems that the food problem is solved.
This human's essence was so powerful and delicious that Duan Ke felt that he would not get tired of it after eating it once like before. On the contrary, he would want to eat more after eating it.
Although feeding it once a week was far from enough to satisfy the body of the Ancestral Succubus, it at least ensured that it would not starve to death. Duan Ke felt that this was already very satisfied.
He is willing to feed me blood and is so considerate.
His owner is really a very gentle and kind person.
It turns out that there are only a few humans as unreasonable and inhumane as the Inquisitor!
Duan Ke happily hugged the dinosaur and rolled around on the cream-colored bed.
He slept so soundly that his bones were soft, and he had no desire to get up. He smoothly changed from sitting to lying down, stretching his arm to touch the mobile phone on the bedside.
There was a piece of paper under the phone, and Duan Ke took it and looked at it curiously.
The word "Qinhuai" was written on it in neat but unobtrusive handwriting, and it was followed by a string of contact information.
Duan Ke repeated the name twice in his mind and thought it sounded quite nice. He quickly sent a WeChat application to the other party and waited for a few minutes while lying down with his phone in his hand.
The other party didn't reply immediately. Duan Ke thought he might be busy with work, so he didn't continue to wait for the message. After lying in bed for half an hour, he got up and got out of bed.
Duan Ke had classes this afternoon, so he carefully confirmed the time and place of the class and set off forty minutes early to take the subway.
While on the road, Duan Ke was surprised to find that his body had more strength than ever before.
Although his short stature due to his picky eating made it impossible for him to grow taller and his muscles seemed to be almost non-existent, he could feel that he had endless energy in his body.
My small and soft fist can probably knock four people away with one punch.
Of course, Duan Ke would not do that, nor would he feel very proud of it.
He still sat quietly in the last row of seats in the classroom, his hands placed flat on his knees, his eyes lowered, quietly reviewing the PPT.
Even if his strength grew, he wouldn't have any extra thoughts. He would only worry about how hard it was to get enough to eat, and his regular, ordinary daily life wouldn't change at all.
But fortunately, he was lucky enough to meet Qin Huai, so the problem of not having enough to eat was solved smoothly.
"Knock knock." The table next to Duan Ke was knocked twice, and a familiar cold voice came from above his head, "Duan Ke."
Duan Ke looked up in surprise, his eyes smiling: "Brother He Yang, you... huh???!!!"
Duan Ke's last tone took a strange turn, his eyes almost popped out, and both sides saw surprise and uncertainty in each other's eyes.
It was Duan Ke who spoke first with a trembling voice. He glanced up and down at He Yang several times, and finally stared closely at He Yang's iconic emerald eyes, saying in disbelief:
"You are...you are Helekla??"
-
Although the monsters have no unified leader and act independently, everyone will remember the top monsters who are extremely powerful or have outstanding characteristics.
Just like people who don’t follow stars can at least name a few big stars.
Among the many top monsters, Helekla is one of the most famous ones because Helekla has both of the two elements that make it famous.
He is not only very strong, but also has outstanding characteristics——
Super rich. Incredibly rich.
As the embodiment of human greed, the evil Dragon of the West, Helekla was born into a constant pursuit of wealth and fame, and the practice of hoarding wealth has continued for centuries.
According to Guatian on the Demonic Forum, the dragon Helekla's wealth combined could buy the entire Dubai.
Duan Ke is a succubus who likes to watch melon fields. Of course, she has heard of this famous rich man in the demon world.
But Duan Ke really didn't expect that the top villain would be in my dormitory.
Helekla has a very good-looking European and American appearance, with black hair, green eyes, and a high nose bridge. Her eyes, which are always calculating, will squint unconsciously, and no one knows what she is thinking.
Duan Ke took a bite of the burnt edge of the buttered toast and looked at the dragon horns on Helekla's head with bright eyes.
"Can I touch it?"
Helekla held out his hand calmly: "Sure. Ten thousand per second."
Duan Ke: "Thank you, no thanks."
He really is a profiteer! He doesn't even need to pretend!
Duan Ke bit off a piece of toast to vent his anger.
How come he didn't realize before that this roommate was the dragon himself!
Before, Duan Ke was wondering why his roommate, an international student who looked like he came from a wealthy family due to his dress, was so keen on making and saving money. He would never leave the dormitory without running errands and would never order takeout without a coupon worth more than 6 yuan.
But if he was Helekla, then it would be fine.
Helekla lazily stirred the pasta on the plate with a fork and said casually, "It's normal that you didn't expect it. I didn't expect you to be the original succubus."
That being said, Duan Ke still felt strange.
He asked, "I can see your true form because my magic power has awakened, but hasn't your magic power always been normal? Why can't you see my true form?"
Helekla took a bite of pasta and mumbled, "Oh, I'm lazy. What's the point of seeing the true form of a low-level monster? There's no money to be made."
"My eyes can only automatically detect top-level monsters." Helekla sat across from Duan Ke, moved a little closer across the table, pointed at his face, and narrowed his emerald eyes cunningly.
“They tend to make the most money.”
They were now eating in a western-style restaurant with the best environment in the school. The cost of the restaurant was relatively high, and most of the people around were couples on dates. The two of them were out of place.
Now Helekla was talking about strange topics, and her voice had not been deliberately lowered. The people around her couldn't help but look at them secretly.
Duan Ke felt a little uncomfortable. He moved closer while pinching the bread and whispered, "He Yang... uh, Brother Hele, can you please not talk about this anymore? It's so embarrassing."
"Okay." The other party didn't insist. He held his chin with his hand and said bluntly, "Then let's talk about something else."
"Can you help me get rid of that Inquisitor?"
"Judge?" Duan Ke's eyes suddenly widened. "Why?"
Speaking of this, Helekla felt so angry that she gritted her teeth and stabbed the fork into the pasta and stirred it.
He was originally a monster active in Europe, where he made a thriving business with the help of magic. His assets were about to expand from one Dubai to two Dubais, achieving another small goal of Long Sheng.
But the Inquisitor from the East suddenly issued a global ban, prohibiting monsters from using magic against humans. This directly cut off Helekla's financial resources, and cutting off his financial resources was tantamount to taking his life.
When the dragon heard the news, he was so angry that he spit fire on the street, and then he was arrested by the management bureau there for violating the ban.
He was so powerful and strong that the administration didn't dare to actually lock him up. After making sure that he had calmed down and wouldn't use magic to burn the streets again, they symbolically collected 500 yuan and released him.
But Helekla still hated it. That was five hundred dollars!
He immediately decided to fly to the city where the Oriental man was and kill him without anyone knowing.
But this Inquisitor was too cunning and hid his identity information too strictly, and the dragon's power was not in the East, so until now no one has been able to find out who this bastard is.
"Your ability is mind control, right?" Helekla bit the tip of her fork and said darkly, "Help me find this damn idiot and I'll kill him."
Duan Ke refused: "I don't want it."
He didn't want to have any contact with the Inquisitor in his life, let alone take the initiative to find him. It was impossible.
Helekla's green eyes widened.
"Why? Aren't you hungry now? His ban prevents you from using charm techniques. Can you eat enough?"
Helekla's words made Duan Ke pause in chewing the bread, and he seemed to feel the warm touch of Qin Huai's fingertips on his chin again.
Duan Ke recalled the taste of Qin Huai that he had tasted for the first time last night. The bread in his hand suddenly lost its fragrance. He licked his lips and said, "I have an owner now. I don't need to use charm. So there's no need to go find the Inquisitor."
"And I'm very weak." Duan Ke said sincerely, "I can't beat him."
Helekla's fox-like eyes stared at Duan Ke up and down, and he confirmed one thing in disbelief - Duan Ke was not lying. He really wasn't hungry.
As a dragon chasing wealth, Helekla's favorite business is the business of succubi. They are widely welcomed by humans, and most of them are good at making gold coins; and when succubi are driven by instinct, it is impossible not to make a deal.
When Helekla lets a human full of sexual charm actively seduce a hungry succubus, no matter how high the price is, the succubus cannot refuse it. And the sales will last for three days and three nights.
but……
Helekla squeezed for a long time and squeezed out a sentence: "...What kind of monster can feed the ancestor succubus??? Don't you need to feed more than a dozen people at the same time to feed yourself?"
There was no ambiguity in Helekla's tone; he was genuinely confused.
Duan Ke replied, "He is indeed quite gifted... To be honest, I've only seen one human like him in all these years, and I lost him. Now this is the second one."
Helekla's expression was indescribable, and she really wanted to ask him what his job was.
Is the pile driver on the construction site a spirit?
But he changed his mind and thought that a noble dragon should not waste its precious time on insignificant humans who could not make money, so he gave up worrying about this boring question and wiped his mouth with a handkerchief beside him in a reserved manner.
He did not give up persuading her and tried again: "Then you..."
"Bang!"
“Boom!——”
Suddenly, the ground beneath Duan Ke's feet rose up as if alive, almost lifting up the small Western restaurant.
The protruding rocks overturned all the tables. The sound of plates breaking, screams coming from all around, and chaotic footsteps all sounded together, and the place was in chaos.
Duan Ke and Helekla looked at each other, nodded slightly, and made a defensive gesture together.
There's no way to escape.
But Duan Ke was not very panicked, and neither was Helekla.
A few seconds later, the expected feeling of weightlessness set in. Duan Ke clutched the bag of uneaten bread tightly, closed his eyes, and planned to open his wings just before hitting the ground to avoid getting hurt.
A second before his vision turned dark, Duan Ke heard a vague cry—
"Inquisitor, there has been a sudden top-level monster attack at A-camp. Please give us your instructions!"
