As she spoke, Wen Yan squatted down and opened the lunchbox.
She first called out "Mother Wen" in her heart before saying, "I've come to see you again. I received the dream you sent me; these are all dishes you used to love to eat."
The speaker may not have meant anything by it, but the listener took it to heart.
Xu Jie, who was standing to the side, couldn't help but shed tears again as he watched this scene.
However, an awkward voice soon broke the somber mood.
Xu Jie's stomach actually started growling.
Wen Yan was surprised: "So you didn't eat."
Xu Jie then explained, "There aren't many breakfast shops nearby, and the only one opens very late. I just bought some recently."
"Then you can eat it. These dishes are hot anyway. Mom can't eat them, so you can try them for her."
Xu Jie shook his head: "No need."
Wen Yan glanced at him: "Is it because I'm here that you're afraid of scaring me if you take off your mask?"
Xu Jie was silent for a moment, then nodded: "I look terrifying."
“I don’t think so,” Wen Yan said, taking out another paper bag. “How could a hero be scary? Look, this is what I want to give you. I’ve been to the Municipal Bureau and met with Director Wang. I’ve learned some things about you. These are letters from the children you’ve sponsored. I think you should take a look. They all like you very much and know that you’ve been through some bad things, but no one is afraid of you.”
Xu Jie was surprised: "You want to understand me?"

Xu Jie was so excited that he lost his voice.
He was wearing a mask, so Wen Yan couldn't see his face, only his large tears.
Wen Yan was somewhat moved: "I think I know the answer, Mr. Xu. Why don't we sit down and I'll eat with you?"
Wen Yan pulled a pack of tissues out of her pocket and took out two sheets to place on the ground.

Wen Yan was serious; she walked over to Xu Jie and tried to help him sit down.

Wen Yan smiled and asked, "Were you wearing a mask when you met my mother?"
Xu Jie shook his head: "But I'm afraid I'll scare you."
Wen Yan shook her head: "Have you forgotten the time I was kidnapped? I already saw it. When I decided to come see you, I had already decided to accept everything. Can you accept it?"
