Neither of them were kitchen novices.
Shen Jingxiu used to cook a lot when he was studying abroad, so he was quite adept at these things.
Although Wen Yan doesn't have much cooking experience, she can still stir-fry dishes.
The two chatted as they cooked together, looking busy yet content.
However, Wen Yan did most of the talking during the conversation, while Shen Jingxiu mostly listened.
As he listened, Shen Jingxiu suddenly noticed that Aunt Zhang had walked to the kitchen doorway.
At first, Aunt Zhang was extremely shocked when she saw the two people in the kitchen.
However, seeing that the two were chatting so intently, she didn't dare to interrupt them.
Shen Jingxiu didn't want a third person to suddenly appear now.
He silently gave Zhang Sao a look, signaling her to leave.
Aunt Zhang nodded, came quietly and left quietly.
Even after Wen Yan finished recounting her dream and her thoughts, she still didn't know that Aunt Zhang had ever been there.
"That's how it is, so I've decided to meet with him and give him the letter I got back from Director Wang. I need to resolve this matter quickly, as I have to go back to the film set to shoot in a couple of days."
Shen Jingxiu nodded: "I respect your decision. I'll drive you there in a bit. It's too remote there; I'm worried about you going alone."
Wen Yan considered for a moment: "Actually, I can drive there myself. But I might chat with him for a while, and if you go, you'll just have to wait for me on the side. I'm afraid you'll be bored."
"I'm not afraid of being bored, and I'll find things to do."
"That's true, a cell phone is all you need. Thank you so much for helping me today. Now you can go back to your room and change your clothes, and I'll prepare breakfast for both of us."
As she spoke, Wen Yan diligently went to untie the apron around Shen Jingxiu's waist.
Shen Jingxiu had originally intended to say that he could make breakfast so that she could go and rest.
But seeing that she had quickly circled around behind him, he stood rooted to the spot, unable to move.
He let Wen Yan take off her apron and put it away before turning to look at her.
"What do you want to eat? I'll make it."
"Isn't this ready-made? The tea eggs are already cooked, and I'll heat up a few slices of toast. The toast was bought and is in the refrigerator, so it's no trouble. You can go out now; you can just go straight to the restaurant later."
It was rare for Wen Yan to cook a meal herself, and looking at these simple home-style dishes, she felt quite accomplished.
"Oh dear!" she exclaimed in annoyance. "I forgot to bring my phone down. Ugh, what a jerk I am."
Shen Jingxiu knew her too well: "You want to take pictures? Use mine, I'll send them to you when they're done."
As they were talking, Shen Jingxiu handed his phone to Wen Yan.
Wen Yan didn't refuse; it was indeed a good idea.
"Okay, thanks bro. But your phone isn't unlocked yet, how can I send it to myself?"
Shen Jingxiu didn't hesitate and immediately recited a string of numbers.
"This is the power-on password."
He spoke so fast that Wen Yan didn't even have time to hand him her phone so he could unlock it himself.
This made Wen Yan feel flattered and overwhelmed.
She waved her phone at Shen Jingxiu and joked, "You've told me your password? What if something on your phone gets leaked and I can't explain myself?"
Shen Jingxiu chuckled: "What secrets could I possibly have that you can't know?"
"Who knows? What if it's a company secret?"
"The company belongs to the Shen family, and you are a member of the Shen family, so it doesn't matter if you know."
Wen Yan: [Hmm, Big Brother is getting nicer and nicer. I'll give him an extra egg later and peel it for him myself.]
What Wen Yan didn't notice was that while she was taking pictures of her 'work,' Shen Jingxiu had already quietly picked up the tea eggs and peeled them.
-
Although she didn't know how long Xu Jie originally planned to stay in the cemetery, Wen Yan still didn't want to keep him waiting for too long.
So after hurriedly finishing her breakfast, she picked up the packed groceries and got into Shen Jingxiu's car.
They set off at around six in the morning, before it was even fully light.
It was almost eight o'clock when we arrived at the cemetery.
The weather is pretty good today, and the environment in the suburbs is also quite nice, with relatively high visibility.
From afar, Wen Yan could see a person standing in front of Wenrou's tombstone.
Shen Jingxiu parked the car at the bottom of the steps and didn't follow Wen Yan any further.
When I saw Xu Jie again, he was dressed the same as always.
He was dressed in black clothes, black pants, a black hat, and a black mask, completely covering himself up.
The difference is that his eyelids are not as wrinkled as before.
Because it's swollen.
It's obvious she was crying.
Upon seeing Wen Yan, he still dared not look directly at her, for fear that his appearance would frighten her.
I was afraid before I knew she was my daughter.
Now that he knows, he's even more afraid.
"You've arrived," Xu Jie said, taking the initiative to speak.
Wen Yan smiled at him: "Yes. I saw an electric scooter downstairs. Did you ride it here last night?"
Xu Jie nodded.
Suddenly he pulled out a plastic bag wrapped in many layers from his pocket.
"Have you eaten yet? I have some steamed buns here. I packed several bags of them, and they're very clean."
The steamed bun that I had been keeping close to my chest started to steam when it came into contact with cold air.
Wen Yan felt a mix of emotions: "Was it specially saved for me?"
"I didn't know what kind of filling you liked for buns, so I just bought steamed buns. They're brown sugar flavored, so they're sweet."
"Thank you, but I ate before I came. I cooked some dishes to visit my mom. And I have some other things for you."
