Chapter 358

Shen Jingcheng knew about the dream that Wen Yan had repeatedly had.

"You mean that car accident?"

“Yes.” Wen Yan nodded. “The closer I get to the center, the more certain I become. Those are all things that really happened. It’s just that, perhaps due to some special external reason, or perhaps because I personally reject that memory, I chose to forget those terrible experiences. All I can remember now are the beautiful and happy moments. …Sigh, let’s go. This door can only be opened with your palm print.”

Wen Yan was ready.

But Shen Jingcheng hesitated.

His intention was not to make Wen Yan unhappy, nor to remind her of her terrible experiences and past.

"Are you... sure?" Shen Jingcheng looked gently into Wen Yan's eyes, carefully seeking her opinion. "If you tell me now that you want to go back, then we'll set off immediately. I'll drive, and once we get to the city, we'll take the next available flight back to City A. We'll continue preparing for the show together, and you'll still be the same person you were before."

Wen Yan paused for a moment, then blinked.

"What are you doing?" she said in a slightly exaggerated tone. "We've already reached the door, are you going to turn back at the last minute? I won't allow that. I'm all ready. Hurry up and open the door, I can't wait any longer."

"are you sure?"

"Hey Professor Shen, can you stop dawdling? Your right hand, right?"

As she spoke, Wen Yan pulled Shen Jingcheng's right hand and pressed it onto the touch panel on the side of the door.

With two beeping sounds, the metal door in front of us slowly slid open.

Wen Yan took a deep breath and said something to Shen Jingcheng as she stepped into pit number 46.

"I can no longer be the person I was in this world before."

Shen Jingcheng, who was putting on shoe covers while standing on the machine, paused for a moment.

Wen Yan followed closely behind and put on shoe covers.

As Shen Jingcheng said, the lighting here is dim, but after wearing their special glasses, it is not difficult to see anything.

Wen Yan already felt somewhat uncomfortable as soon as she entered.

However, she didn't say it.

Instead, she walked step by step toward the center point that made her uncomfortable.

It wasn't until Shen Jingcheng reached out and grabbed her hand that she said, "Warning line. Go any further and you'll get a headache."

"Oh," Wen Yan swallowed absentmindedly, "I was careless, I didn't even see it. This must be the center of Pit 46."

"Um."

"Then look at the distance from here to there, doesn't it look like a car once fell off it?"

Wen Yan gestured, and at the same time, the memories in her mind became clearer and clearer.

Shen Jingcheng nodded: "Yes, I didn't notice it at first, but I put in some effort to simulate it later."

"Yes, with such a deep pit, who would have thought the ground would collapse?"

At the time, neither she, Fatty, nor Xiaomeng expected it.

"What's that?" Wen Yan suddenly pointed to a small, slightly shimmering object in the pit and asked, "It looks like an ornament. Didn't you collect it?"

“We collected them before, but then put them back. We discovered that the magnetic field here is very special. Things from here are actually less likely to be preserved if placed elsewhere.”

“Then…” Wen Yan turned back to Shen Jingcheng in a daze, “Can I pick it up and take a look? I will be very careful not to damage the surrounding marks.”

“Okay.” Shen Jingcheng replied, raising his hand to pull up the warning tape for Wen Yan.

Wen Yan carefully walked in, turned her back to Shen Jingcheng, picked up the ornament from the soil, and remained motionless for a long time.

Ten seconds, twenty seconds, forty seconds, one minute—she stood there motionless, like a statue.

Shen Jingcheng panicked. He immediately walked to the center of the pit and, despite his unpleasant headache, patted Wen Yan's shoulder.

"Wen Yan, Wen Yan, what's wrong with you? Wake up!"

“This is Xiaomeng’s hair clip.” Wen Yan suddenly looked at Shen Jingcheng, tears streaming down her face.

Shen Jingcheng had a splitting headache and hurriedly pulled Wen Yan towards the outside of the cordon.

"We can't stay here any longer, let's leave first."

The two quickly retreated beyond the cordon, and Shen Jingcheng then felt his headache symptoms lessen somewhat.

He hunched over slightly, looked up, and asked Wen Yan, "Don't you feel a headache in there?"

"Is it only when I'm inside that I get a headache?" Wen Yan took off her glasses to wipe her tears, and couldn't help but sob. "I started getting a headache even before I got to your number 46."

Shen Jingcheng had just felt sad seeing Wen Yan in the pit, tears streaming down her face and remaining silent, but he never expected her to come back to life so quickly.

She cried and sobbed, tears streaming down her face.

Shen Jingcheng thought the girl was really cute, but he quickly realized that this was actually a very serious matter.

Do you recognize this hair clip?

"It's Xiaomeng's. Let me tell you about the memories that were activated in me."

"Okay, then I'll take you out."

"No. Just leave it here. And," Wen Yan made a request, "could you please take your glasses off?"

Shen Jingcheng paused for a moment, then immediately understood Wen Yan's intention.

She didn't want to see his face when she was reminiscing; he might have made her cry.

"Of course, here you go."

"What is this?"

"A pack of tissues."

Wen Yan smiled through her tears: "Professor Shen has prepared quite thoroughly."

Shen Jingcheng smiled and said, "It's a personal habit."

Wen Yan said "oh," and then suddenly pulled something out of her pocket: "I wonder if you'll mind this personal habit of mine."

Shen Jingcheng took the item and looked at it closely, his mouth agape in surprise.
