"Master Tianxuan is going to give a sermon in the Taihe Hall this morning. I'm so lucky to run into Master Tianxuan today!"
Upon hearing this news, a commoner cried out in excitement. He had been kneeling and begging for days without being able to meet Master Tianxuan, but he never expected to encounter the master chanting scriptures today.
"Really? Let's go, let's hurry, lest Master Tianxuan leaves again."
"Yes, yes, hurry up! The person who just came out said that Master Tianxuan said he would find a destined person to receive blessings today. I hope that person is me!"
Upon hearing this, the surrounding people immediately became restless and headed towards the Hall of Supreme Harmony. Even those who had been kneeling and pleading for mercy quickly stood up and followed the procession.
Lin Yuxin and Li Xiaochen exchanged a glance, and Li Xiaochen whispered to the two behind him:
"Go and check around to see if anything seems amiss."
"yes!"
Wang Yu and Lie Yan bowed and then quietly walked away to another location.
Li Xiaochen, along with Lin Yuxin, followed the main group. They wanted to see just who this Master Tianxuan really was!
When the two arrived at the Taihe Hall, it was already filled with kneeling people, and the sound of chanting scriptures came from inside, solemn and sacred.
Hundreds of people knelt on the ground, listening devoutly. Even outside the hall, people were kneeling. Lin Yuxin narrowed her eyes slightly. With this kind of appeal, it was almost like a pyramid scheme!
Because there were too many people and they arrived a little late, they could only stand outside the hall. Everyone else knelt down after they arrived, but the two of them stood there awkwardly.
The people were all devoutly chanting scriptures and praying for blessings, but no one paid them any attention.
Lin Yuxin peered through the crowd into the hall, but could only make out a figure in the far end of the hall: a monk dressed in a white Taoist robe with a golden kasaya draped over his shoulders. However, since she couldn't see his face, Lin Yuxin couldn't make a judgment.
After giving Li Xiaochen a wink, Lin Yuxin knelt down and began to close her eyes devoutly to rest.
Li Xiaochen originally did not believe in these gods and Buddhas, but after meeting Xin Xin and witnessing the miraculous things that happened to her, he had no choice but to believe, and he knelt down to accompany her.
The chanting lasted for two hours before it ended. Lin Yuxin's legs were numb. After kneeling for a quarter of an hour, she took a cushion, placed it under her buttocks, and sat down with Li Xiaochen.
Bodhisattva, it's not that my daughter wasn't sincere! It's just that kneeling hurt so much! I hope the Bodhisattva won't blame my husband and me!
She doesn't usually seek out trouble for herself, so after apologizing to the Bodhisattva and Buddha, she has been sitting here ever since.
"Esteemed benefactors, today's scripture recitation has come to an end. In a little while, this old monk will have my disciple find a destined person to fulfill Buddha's gift for today! Please return now!"
A gentle and humble voice came from the main hall, but no one was seen.
"Looks like we can't find anyone. Shall we go explore other places?"
Seeing that so many people were unwilling to leave, Lin Yuxin realized that she would have to find another way to see Master Tianxuan today!
Li Xiaochen nodded, then pulled Lin Yuxin and headed off to another location.
Fuqing Temple consists of four main halls. The Hall of Supreme Harmony is the main hall, and there are three more halls on the sides and behind, which enshrine Manjushri Bodhisattva, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, Maitreya Bodhisattva, and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, respectively.
The trees on the mountaintop were not very dense, but the temple was built in a magnificent and luxurious manner, which did not look like a temple for cultivating oneself outside the secular world.
"This temple seems to be quite wealthy!"
Lin Yuxin's eyes lit up when she looked at the golden Maitreya Buddha. Of the four Buddhas here, only this one was golden; the others were all built in a luxurious style.
"There might be something wrong with this Maitreya Bodhisattva!"
Li Xiaochen looked at the Maitreya Bodhisattva with a serious expression. Even though there were many people here to worship Buddha, Li Xiaochen still sensed that something was wrong.
Lin Yuxin raised an eyebrow and looked at the large Buddha statue. Indeed, usually, when making a golden statue, people would first build a statue of Manjushri or Guanyin, because both of them are believed to bring peace and good fortune, and people would have many more statues at their doorsteps.
However, Maitreya Bodhisattva can only symbolize compassion, tolerance, optimism, and a peaceful state of mind.
However, Master Tianxuan consecrated the Maitreya Bodhisattva with a golden body, and that's the part that's strange.
"But there are too many people now, so we can only check back tonight!"
As Lin Yuxin watched the endless stream of people bowing to Maitreya Bodhisattva, I felt somewhat helpless.
You have to be sincere to worship Buddha, but this temple is acting strangely. Will worshipping Buddha even be effective?
The two of them followed local customs and bowed to the four Bodhisattvas one by one. They couldn't possibly offend the Bodhisattvas, could they?
As for what happens next, we'll see. If they really find something wrong, at least they should try to be polite first before resorting to force! The Bodhisattva shouldn't blame us, right?
After the two finished walking around the area, they were about to meet up with Lie Yan and the others when a young monk walked up to them and respectfully bowed to them.
"Please wait a moment, esteemed guests, while our abbot invites you in!"
Lin Yuxin and Li Xiaochen exchanged a glance, then smiled and said:
"May I ask, young monk, what business does the abbot have with us?"
"The abbot only said that the female benefactor is the one destined for today."
The young monk smiled and spoke respectfully.
"Then I'll trouble you, little monk, to lead the way!"
Lin Yuxin's lips curled up, her smile widened, and she nodded.
Since Master Tianxuan has taken the initiative to contact her, she will go and meet him!
"This way, please, benefactor!"
The young monk stepped aside, gestured for him to enter, and then turned and walked towards the back of the temple.
