She tugged at Li Xiaochen's sleeve and then followed him.
A hint of worry flashed in Li Xiaochen's eyes, but he followed without showing any emotion.
The three stopped at the entrance of a simple courtyard. The little monk turned to Lin Yuxin and Li Xiaochen and said:
"The abbot has only invited the female benefactor in; male benefactors, please wait!"
Upon hearing this, Li Xiaochen's face turned cold, and he held onto Lin Yuxin's hand tightly.
"Then I won't go! It's better not to be a destined person like this!"
Li Xiaochen spoke in a cold tone, then pulled Lin Yuxin and prepared to leave.
"Ah Chen!"
Lin Yuxin held onto Li Xiaochen, preventing him from leaving. She looked at him reassuringly and then shook her head at him, implying that she would be alright!
Li Xiaochen's hand remained firmly planted on Lin Yuxin's, his gaze fixed on her. He understood her thoughts; she wanted to venture out alone again! He wouldn't allow it!
Faced with Li Xiaochen's insistence, Lin Yuxin had no choice but to say to the little monk:
"Little monk, look, my husband is reluctant to leave me for so long. Why don't you go in and ask the abbot?"
The young monk hesitated for a moment, then nodded:
"Please wait a moment, benefactor!"
After the little monk finished speaking, he went inside and came out a short while later. He made a gesture to Lin Yuxin and said:
"Please come in, both of you!"
Lin Yuxin smiled and thanked her:
"Thank you for your help, little monk!"
As Lin Yuxin spoke, she pulled Li Xiaochen inside.
As soon as the two of them stepped inside, the gate to the courtyard was closed.
Li Xiaochen looked around warily, shielding Lin Yuxin behind him with one hand.
