Chapter 103 Interstellar

The system then gave her a general overview of the world's background and worldview.

This is the interstellar era, thousands of years after modern times. Earth, where humanity originally lived, experienced climate chaos and the mutation of plants and animals, leading to an apocalypse. After struggling to survive in the apocalypse for hundreds of years, humanity finally revived its civilization. Human technology also made rapid progress in researching the mutated plants and animals and the sources of their energy.

About a thousand years later, Earth experienced its second cataclysmic disaster, and humanity was once again plunged into a struggle for survival. This time, all of humanity was forced to move into underground cities. Fortunately, by this time, humanity's technological level had become very advanced, and they had long since begun searching for habitable planets in outer space. Finally, after more than three hundred years underground and nearly exhausting all available underground resources, they found a habitable planet and sent humanity's most skilled personnel and tens of thousands of high-quality cryopreserved embryos to that planet aboard a spaceship.

Thus began the interstellar age in human history.

Meanwhile, these human embryos, born and raised in outer space, gradually exhibited different special talents as they grew.

They were originally the descendants of the strongest superhumans or researchers of their time, possessing incredibly strong bodies and highly developed brains. After growing up on a habitable planet in outer space with an environment vastly different from Earth's, their bodies began to undergo some changes.

After that, these people mated and produced offspring, and their offspring's bodies began to change, which later people called evolution.

The evolved humans are very different from the original Earthlings. They are exceptionally tall, with an average height of over two meters, and their skin colors have become more diverse, with blue or green skin tones being very common.

They also have some special characteristics. For example, those who originally had animal-type abilities may have evolved to have some animal characteristics, or people with strength abilities may be particularly strong, or people with agility abilities may be able to fly.

These abilities are also reflected in their appearance, so even though the interstellar people have many strange appearances, everyone is used to it.

But that's not the most special thing about it.

Most notably, they gradually evolved into two groups: one group consists of people with outstanding intellect but whose bodies are not much different from those of the original Earthlings and who are not very strong; the other group consists of people with significantly altered bodies, great strength, and who can even breathe in the environment of outer space.

Of course, they gave this distinction two nice names: exogenous species and internalized species. And within these two general distinctions between populations, another evolution... or rather, mutation occurred, because it's hard to say whether this change is an advantage or a disadvantage...

Among the externalized species, there has emerged a group of people who are stronger in combat but more emotionally unstable and prone to madness. Their symptoms can only be cured by those among the internalized species who are known as the Healers.

However... Healers have long lifespans and mature late, with most still in their infancy even in their twenties. In contrast, they can live for seven or eight hundred years. However, this race is very rare, and most of them are prone to dying in infancy. Therefore, once they are discovered, they are protected immediately.

This protection, which resembles imprisonment, is a last resort. There are many forces outside that want to secretly take away the Healers, and the cost and risk of raising Healers are too great. Therefore, the breeding institutions can only protect the Healers in this way.

At this moment, Yi Ye Nianzhen noticed that the surrounding walls and floors were made of very soft materials. This might be the real case of being afraid of melting in one's mouth... Were they worried that the healer might accidentally trip and fall to his death?

The system added, "It's really hard to say, host! There was a time when a healing species who was almost an adult accidentally tripped and fell, and then we never heard from her again! It's a chilling thought!"

Ye Nianzhen: "...Really? Is this some kind of scary story? Who would die from just a fall? They must have secretly hidden that person away!"

However, at this moment, the little robot came to examine her body. The machine's outer shell was a bit cold, and when the little robot's hand was placed on hers, it almost gave her a shiver from the cold!

The subsequent examination process was the same; even the slightest touch made her hair stand on end. It felt extremely strange. A simple physical examination had left her drenched in cold sweat.

Ye Nianzhen was still in a daze after the little robot left, staring blankly at her hands: "What's going on... System?"

The system's voice carried a hint of schadenfreude: "That's why healers need protection. They're exceptionally sensitive to every touch around them, and their senses are constantly on high alert. Their perception of their surroundings is dozens, even hundreds of times greater than that of ordinary humans! If they accidentally slip and fall on a hard floor, it could really hurt terribly!"

Ye Nianzhen: "..."

This damn setting!

*

Ye Nianzhen's examination was over, and the little robot's reaction was normal. However, when the examination results were uploaded to the management center behind the scenes, they caused a huge uproar.

The examination results showed that although the patient, who was only in her early twenties, was still physically weak and in the same juvenile stage as other patients of the same age, her brain was already fully mature!

They quickly retrieved the surveillance footage from Ye Nianzhen's room and began to analyze it carefully.

This analysis shocked them even more than when they saw the test results. Normally, a healer of this age is in early childhood, and even those who develop quickly can at most learn to eat and use the toilet on their own, barely reaching the level of self-care. But what about Ye Nianzhen? Everything she did after waking up suggested that she was completely self-sufficient and possessed a certain ability to think calmly. She even noticed the hidden doors on the walls, and the way she looked up and observed seemed to be searching for surveillance cameras in the room.

Other healers of this age often don't even know the boundaries of the walls, let alone the monitoring system, and will bump into them while crawling or exploring.

This is not surprising, because they are essentially infants, only they look similar to young adults in their teens or twenties from ancient times.

Therefore, individuals like Ye Nianzhen, who are precocious, are rare in this situation. Those who are closely monitoring the cured patients behind the scenes, whether they are doctors or high-level researchers, are now looking at each other in bewilderment. This is the first time they have encountered such a situation, and they do not know how to react or deal with it.

Several minutes later, a high-ranking and respected female researcher stepped forward and said to the others, "I'll go check on her. You all take notes."
