When the boss is in a bad mood, his subordinates are always on edge.
Fortunately, things were almost done, and with Ye Nianzhen's approval, everyone hid inside the tents as planned.
Mu Guang, who was watching from above, could only watch helplessly as the "ants" below all hid in their nest and never came out again.
What happened?
He was suspicious, but he didn't think these people could predict the future; he thought it was just a coincidence.
Besides, isn't the commander of that base and several of her seemingly capable subordinates still outside?
Mu Guang was completely unaware that these were all traps aimed at him. He lay on his back on a large rock, waiting for the dark clouds to dissipate.
He was lucky; the clouds cleared just as the sun was at its strongest at midday.
A ray of sunlight shone down from the sky, enveloping Mu Guang in its glow.
His off-white, slightly wavy short hair seemed to blend into the light, and his thick, curled eyelashes cast shadows under his eyes.
He opened his eyes, and the center of his pale golden pupils shrank to a tiny dot. Light seemed to shine through that dot, illuminating his entire soul.
If you ignore his dark and morbid inner self, he looks just like a holy angel at this moment.
This illusion lasted only a moment, because immediately a twisted smile appeared on his face.
"The show's about to begin!"
*
Ye Nianzhen stood guard in the center of the base, where a newly assembled "foundation" was placed.
The "foundations" at the four corners of the base were covered with a special reflective material to protect against enemy attacks.
A faint rumbling sound came from the ground in the distance, and Ye Nianzhen knew that the centipede swarm had arrived.
This is something that would have happened in the original timeline. Even though many plot points have changed, Ye Nianzhen still made ample preparations.
As expected, the incident still occurred.
She originally planned to take advantage of this time to set a trap for Hongxiao. Although the plan was disrupted, the result was good.
Now that she has taken over the base, she must protect it.
Just as she had expected, as the centipede swarm approached, a bright beam of light burst forth from above the "foundation" at each of the four corners of the base.
However, due to the obstruction of the reflective material, the light is refracted back into the sky, causing a certain area of the clouds to brighten for a moment.
Like a thunderstorm on a sunny day.
It's not hard to imagine that if the attack had actually been successfully intercepted, the "foundation" would have already been reduced to ashes.
*
Mu Guang pretended to put his hand on his forehead, looking at it from a distance.
He tilted his head in surprise when he realized his attack had been deflected.
Is it a foundation made of some new material? It's such a small base, yet it has such cutting-edge technology.
Never mind, he looked towards the center and confirmed that the "foundation" was exposed.
"As long as we destroy that one, the centipede can dig in from underground."
Mu Guang muttered to himself as he lightly tapped his finger, and a high-energy beam of light locked onto the target.
"Snap!" He made an onomatopoeic sound that was hard to understand, and flicked his finger downwards.
A beam of light burst forth from the clouds, pointing directly at the "foundation" beside Ye Nianzhen.
Ye Nianzhen remained calm and unhurried, unfolding the mirror sphere she had been holding for some time.
Some kind of cutting-edge technology somehow caused it to float up on its own, blocking Ye Nianzhen and the "foundation".
Although small in size, it was enough to block the beam of light.
Once again, the light was refracted and shot straight into the sky.
Mu Guang finally couldn't hold back any longer. He wanted to see what was ruining his plans time and time again!
He transformed into a beam of light and teleported swiftly in that direction.
Logically speaking, light has no physical form and can penetrate anywhere.
However, he encountered a wall in the form of light, his head slamming solidly into a hard wall.
A... mirrored wall.
Mirror, and more mirror, mirror after mirror!
This causes the light beam, acting as a ray of light, to refract continuously inside the mirror sphere, bouncing constantly within the narrow space.
Endless, without end.
Mu Guang rolled his eyes, which were not actually there. If he had a physical body, he would have vomited long ago.
Help... Help! Where am I?!
*
Inside the small base, a completely sealed tent was erected, airtight.
This was reinforced from a previously abandoned tent. Ye Nianzhen specifically instructed that there was no rush and that construction should be done slowly.
Although Ye Nianzhen's original intention was this, none of his subordinates dared to be lazy or negligent. The secret room was set up in just half a day.
Ye Nianzhen stood regretfully in front of the tent—she had originally wanted to keep it closed a little longer.
Well, it's nighttime now, and apart from artificial light, it's practically pitch black.
For light-based ability users, this is simply the worst possible environment.
Ye Nianzhen entered the tent, and the door behind her closed automatically, plunging her into thick darkness in an instant.
She took out the mirror sphere from the system space. The sphere gradually unfolded like a lotus flower, and a beam of light shot out from it.
Ye Nianzhen was prepared; she tilted her head slightly, and only a few strands of hair at her temples were cut off.
That seemed to be Mu Guang's last bit of energy. A heavy thud was heard behind him, followed by an uncontrollable, violent vomiting sound.
Mu Guang lay on the ground like a stray dog, vomiting violently.
The last vestige of his consciousness made him brace himself with his hands on the ground to prevent vomit from splashing onto him.
My mind was spinning like a magic top, constantly turning and never stopping.
My stomach was empty, and I started vomiting bile, my throat burning painfully.
Finally, after recovering from the shock, Mu Guang lay on his back on the ground, breathing heavily.
In the darkness, apart from his breathing, only the sound of footsteps was exceptionally clear.
