A gunshot rang out, and the man at the door fell to the ground.
It twitched twice and then fell silent, the stench of blood instantly filling the small space.
Xia Wan was dumbfounded.
Sister Bai pointed her gun at Xia Wan's head again, and Xia Wan immediately covered her head and squatted down: "I didn't know your rules here. Is ignorance a crime?"
Sister Bai ignored Xia Wan's words and turned the gun on Xia Wan's head.
'Bang!'
Xia Wan didn't feel any pain after the gunshot. She looked up and saw Sister Bai painfully clutching her bleeding hand, with a dark hole in the bloody palm.
Turning her head again, she saw Cui Ziqi standing at the door.
"come over."
Cui Ziqi's voice remained cold.
Overjoyed, she quickly got up and ran to Cui Ziqi's side.
Her eyes were red, and Cui Ziqi frowned slightly, raising his hand to pull her behind him.
"Cui Ziqi? What are you doing here?"
Sister Bai looked over here with a pale face.
Xia Wan peeked out from behind Cui Ziqi and finally saw the two people in front of her clearly.
The woman called Sister Bai had a perfectly oval face, short hair, leather pants and a vest, and her white shirt was stained with specks of blood, like blooming red roses.
The man squatting beside her, looking at her hands with concern, was slightly overweight with a round face and deep, narrow eyes that bore a resemblance to Cui Ziqi's.
Cui Ziqi frowned as she looked at the two unfamiliar people in front of her.
A cold voice echoed in my mind.
These are people from your mother's side...
Before the system could finish speaking, Cui Ziqi's face darkened, and he raised his silver spear, firing two shots at the open space next to Sister Bai and the other person.
The man crouched on the ground, protecting Sister Bai's head.
Cui Ziqi took the opportunity to pull Xia Wan out the door.
Xia Wan glanced back at the two of them, then at the already cold corpse on the ground.
She steadied herself and followed Cui Ziqi outside.
"Hey Ziqi, does that Sister Bai know your name? Do you two know each other?"
Xia Wan followed Cui Ziqi, wandering along the corridor.
She didn't know the way, partly because the system would help her remember the route, and partly because Cui Ziqi wouldn't harm her.
Cui Ziqi led Xia Wan into a room.
Tang Xiao was already waiting in the room.
Cui Ziqi pushed Xia Wan in front of Tang Xiao, "Take a thorough check."
Tang Xiao nodded.
Under Cui Ziqi's supervision, Xia Wan cooperated with Tang Xiao to undergo basic examinations.
"Is Miss Xia injured?"
Xia Wan shook her head, "I had a few scrapes on my arm before, but I've already applied medicine."
Who applied the medicine to you?
Cui Ziqi, who had been quiet beside him, suddenly spoke up.
Xia Wan subconsciously opened her mouth, but then, thinking of the person who had applied the medicine to her, she suddenly dared not speak.
Cui Ziqi was still waiting quietly.
Seeing that the atmosphere was not right, Tang Xiao coughed lightly and said to Xia Wan, "Miss Xia is fine. The ointment for the abrasions is here. I'll be leaving now."
The door opened and closed again, and the room fell into an eerie silence once more.
Xia Wan glanced at Cui Ziqi's cold, frosty face. Beneath his superior brow bone, his dark, ink-black eyes were devoid of any emotion.
She couldn't quite figure out his mood.
But she was certain that the turbulent undercurrent beneath the calm exterior was a typical characteristic of men like Cui Ziqi, who were prone to obsessive and possessive behavior. If she were to mention Zheng Minghuai even once, the storm that had yet to break would surely unleash itself in an instant.
She suddenly clutched her stomach and cried out in pain.
"I'm so hungry, I have no energy left."
Xia Wan wasn't exactly lying; since she was arrested, she hadn't even had a sip of water.
After Zheng Minghuai rescued her, he prepared food for her.
But Zheng Minghuai kept staring at her while she ate, which made her feel like the food had been drugged, so she didn't eat anything in the end.
She looked at Cui Ziqi with a pitiful expression.
Cui Ziqi's tall figure finally made a move.
He walked up to Xia Wan, raised his hand to pinch her chin, his gaze like that of a hawk, and his voice was filled with intense killing intent.
Who applied the medicine to you?
He asked another question.
At this moment, Xia Wan was genuinely frightened.
She was afraid that Cui Ziqi would take his anger out on her, so she wasn't afraid of the storm anymore and quickly threw Zheng Minghuai out of the way to divert attention.
"It was Zheng Minghuai. He brought me out and showed me my injuries."
"Yeah?"
Cui Ziqi let out a cold laugh. The room was empty, but Xia Wan felt the air was suffocating and she could hardly breathe.
The man's warm fingertips slid down Xia Wan's delicate neck, opened the collar of her shirt, and gently pressed the butterfly birthmark on her left shoulder.
"Where is the wound?"
Xia Wan felt as if his fingertips were carrying an electric current, and every inch of skin they touched sent shivers down her spine.
Upon hearing his question, Xia Wan moved her left arm.
"On my arm."
"Did he apply the medicine to your sleeve, or did he pull down your shirt over your shoulder to apply it?"
What?
Xia Wan looked at Cui Ziqi in confusion. What's the difference?
Cui Ziqi frowned slightly, and Xia Wan quickly said, "She lifted her sleeve."
As soon as she finished speaking, she clearly felt the temperature around her warm up a bit, and the oppressive feeling also disappeared considerably.
'Gurgle~'
Xia Wan's stomach growled at just the right moment, and she looked up at Cui Ziqi, who was also looking down at her.
She forced a smile and said, "I'm really hungry."
Cui Ziqi pressed her shoulder and made her sit on the sofa, then casually picked up the ointment left by Tang Xiao.
He ignored Xia Wan's words about being hungry and focused only on unbuttoning the shirt on her chest.
