Chapter 31 You Need to Be Brave

Luo Ning heard Lu Xinghe's confident assurance, but she still felt a little uneasy. It seemed that the closer she got to him, the more she would "give up".

But she really doesn't have anywhere else to go right now, so what should she do?

Seeing that she remained silent, Lu Xinghe said, "If you don't believe me, at least believe Xiao Ruo. She really cares about you."

Luo Ning hesitated for a moment, then finally nodded. At least with Xiao Ruo around, Lu Xinghe would probably be more considerate.

Before dawn, the two walked toward the house in the darkness. Lu Xinghe led the way, and Luo Ning followed behind him. Although he couldn't see her, he couldn't help but look at her shadow.

Ever since his memories returned, he couldn't help but want to see her. But as soon as he saw her face, her rosy lips, her slender waist, and her soft tail, he couldn't help but think of those enchanting and crazy scenes with her, and then uncontrollably, some crazy or violent thoughts would arise.

His gaze shifted from her shadow, and his Adam's apple bobbed.

So, is it because he rejected her and was afraid of her getting close to him because he had done something even worse to her than she remembered?

He tried to recall the images quickly, but his mind was still filled with many blanks.

Luo Ning watched his back as he walked away. He hadn't said a word the whole way, which meant he was deliberately keeping his distance from her, which made her feel a little more at ease.

After arriving at the house where he had stayed before, Lu Xinghe checked the room again: "This is where my mother lived before she got married. When I was little, I often stayed here with her. This is a special area, and people don't usually come in here."

Luo Ning knew this place was relatively safe; many patrolmen would pass by without coming in, which she found somewhat strange.

“Why a special area?” she wrote on the paper.

Lu Xinghe paused for a moment before replying, "This won't affect you. You can stay here."

Luo Ning could tell he didn't want to talk about it, so she changed the subject: "Why did you lie to me when you could have left the base?"

"Because there are thirty security officers on the plane, they couldn't hide you, so I didn't tell you." He lied; he just didn't want her to leave.

She took out a new positioning wristband and gave it to Luo Ning. Luo Ning was a little embarrassed. She thought she could fool him by losing the bracelet, but she didn't expect that less than 24 hours had passed between his return and when he found her.

She could only take the bracelet, but this time it was a buckle type, and her hands were so cold and stiff that she couldn't put it on right away.

Lu Xinghe took the bracelet and helped her put it on. His fingers were warm, and they touched her wrist lightly, making her feel a little itchy.

"Don't throw any more away, the base doesn't have many left," Lu Xinghe said softly.

Seeing that his thoughts had been seen through, Luo Ning nodded slightly, then pointed to the door, indicating that it was getting late and he could leave.

Lu Xinghe was indeed leaving; he had a meeting at eight in the morning. However, he suddenly thought of a problem: where was Xiao Ruo? How could he have forgotten about Xiao Ruo?

He immediately tried to contact An Xiaoruo via communicator, but it was Song Pei's voice that came through: "Major."

I thought I had dialed the wrong number, but when I looked again, it was Xiao Ru's number, so it was correct: "Where is An Xiao Ru?"

“She’s still asleep,” Song Pei replied.

Lu Xinghe's heart skipped a beat: "Still sleeping?"

Luo Ning was also shocked to hear this. An Xiaoruo and Song Pei were already sleeping together?

"Yes, Major."

"Get to my office right now," Lu Xinghe said through gritted teeth.

But Song Pei on the other end of the phone said calmly, "I'm afraid it can't be done immediately. My hands are currently shackled by An Xiaoruo, and she threw away the key. I've tried several times but haven't been able to unlock them."

shackles?

Lu Xinghe sneered: "Even if you chop off your hand, get over here right now."

Luo Ning heard the entire conversation clearly. Although she used to teach An Xiaoruo not to be timid or inferior, but to bravely express her feelings and live happily, she never imagined that the final result would be her handcuffing her instructor to the bed and playing some kind of exciting game.

She looked at Lu Xinghe suspiciously. He was the one who raised An Xiaoruo. What exactly did he teach her that made such a lovely little girl grow up so badly?

Lu Xinghe was also reflecting on whether he had spent too much time outside the base and neglected An Xiaoruo's daily life.

"I'm leaving now." Lu Xinghe was going to check on the situation.

But Luo Ning grabbed him and wrote, "Bring Xiao Ruo to my place tonight."

"Okay," he replied and quickly left.

As Luo Ning watched his departing figure, facing the now quiet room, she felt a strange sense of melancholy.

She still doesn't like being alone, even though she has lived this kind of life for five years and may live it for decades or even centuries to come.

Song Pei would never chop off his own hand; he still needed it to use a gun to kill the aliens.

He glanced at An Xiaoruo, who was still fast asleep beside him due to her drunkenness. The girl's face was flushed like a rose, and her long eyelashes were like quiet feathers. She slept without any guard, as gentle as the moon in the sky.

But this gentle person turned into a completely different person last night after just one sip of wine. She dragged him into her dorm room and recounted all the strict things she had done to her in the past. She even said that if it weren't for the requirements of the marriage department, she wouldn't have even glanced at him. Although he was good-looking, he was too cold-hearted, too muscular, and often scolded her.

She only liked sunny and funny young men, and loved being pampered. In the end, she even used shackles to imprison him, shouting that she would never let him ruin other people's relationships.

He didn't care. He was the kind of person who lived for today and didn't know what tomorrow would bring. His purpose in living was simply to kill the aliens and avenge his parents.

However, after throwing away the keys, she went back to bed and hugged him. Her warm body was like a fire, a temperature he had never experienced before.

At this moment, An Xiaoruo turned over and hugged him, rubbing her head against his chest. Unaware of her actions, even though he had no intention of her actions, he could feel his body temperature rising.

He lowered his head to look at the girl in his arms; it seemed like it had been a long time since he had gazed at someone like that.

But the next second, An Xiaoruo suddenly opened her eyes and stared at him blankly. About ten seconds later, she jumped off the bed in a panic, trying to escape, but when she reached the door, she closed her eyes, turned around, and lowered her head: "Instructor Song, I'm sorry."

She has already recalled the stupid things she did last night.

Song Pei shook the shackles on his hands: "Go outside the window and retrieve the key first. You can talk to your uncle about the rest."

An Xiaoruo was on the verge of tears: "You told my uncle on me?"

"No, I'm just stating the facts," Song Pei said calmly.

An Xiaoruo had nothing to say and could only listlessly climb out of the window to look for the key, but she couldn't find it anywhere. In the end, Lu Xinghe came over and used tools to break the shackles, which restored Song Pei's freedom.

After learning the whole story, Lu Xinghe didn't want to blame Song Pei, so he told Song Pei to leave first. But as Song Pei was leaving, he called him back, looking at the still somewhat boyish boy in front of him with an ambiguous expression: "Song Pei, are you really unable to break free of your shackles?"

Song Pei's eyes flickered slightly: "Hmm, it can't be opened."

"It seems your skills have become rusty lately. Starting today, you'll need to do extra physical training for a month." Lu Xinghe said, patting Song Pei on the shoulder. How could someone he had trained not know what the other party was up to?

“Yes.” Song Pei did not object and left directly.

That evening, he took An Xiaoruo to see Luo Ning. Luo Ning had been waiting all day for them and was relieved to learn that nothing had happened between An Xiaoruo and Song Pei.

"Tell me, who did you learn all those things from?" Lu Xinghe couldn't ask An Xiaoruo these things alone, but now that Luo Ning was here, it was easier for him.

An Xiaoruo sighed and replied, "Uncle, I swear I really didn't learn from anyone, and I haven't read any books. Maybe I thought he was a monster, so I locked him up."

But this casual remark made Lu Xinghe pause. He subconsciously glanced at Luo Ning. An Xiaoruo wouldn't lie to him. Could it be that An Xiaoruo had seen him and Luo Ning doing something in the past?

After all, he had such memories too: under the blue sky and white clouds, with the babbling water beside him, Luo Ning first threw him to the ground, and he rolled over to pin her down and tie her hands...

He fell silent, An Xiaoruo was also immersed in frustration, and Luo Ning was unable to speak, and the room fell silent again.

Luo Ning thought for a moment and wrote to An Xiaoruo, "So, do you like Song Pei?"

An Xiaoruo immediately stammered, "I... how could I possibly like him? He's so boring."

Although Luo Ning didn't have much experience in dating, seeing An Xiaoruo's appearance, she probably already knew the answer in her heart: An Xiaoruo must have already taken Song Pei to heart.

She and Song Pei are the male and female leads. She is destined to fall in love with Song Pei, which will trigger changes in her genes. Their destined love for each other is perhaps something that will never change.

So she continued writing: "If you like him and he likes you too, then confess your feelings as soon as possible. It's a luxury to meet someone you love in this life, so be brave."

She was encouraging An Xiaoruo, saying that if the genes in her body could awaken ahead of time, then human mortality would be greatly reduced.

An Xiaoruo was somewhat distracted after reading it, while Lu Xinghe read it word by word.

They would be leaving soon. With the New Year approaching, everyone had a lot to do. Although Luo Ning wanted to talk to An Xiaoruo a little longer, she could only watch them leave.

Once in the car, Lu Xinghe drove without saying a word, while An Xiaoruo in the passenger seat took out a small communicator and turned it on, which showed a picture of Luo Ning's room.

He saw it and snatched it away: "When did you install surveillance cameras in her house?"

An Xiaoruo was a little embarrassed: "I pretended to be missing the day my sister went missing, because I wanted to know when she would come back. Now that she's back, we can't see each other often, so I'll take this opportunity to see her more often. If she wants to leave again, we can know in advance."

Lu Xinghe was a little angry: "Do you know what the consequences would be if someone saw her?"

An Xiaoruo replied, "It's okay if they see it, right? My sister looks completely human, and the channel is encrypted, so it's hard for anyone to see it."

"No, confiscate it. This thing must be destroyed."

"No." An Xiaoru reached out to take it, but Lu Xinghe firmly refused to give it to her. An Xiaoru tried to grab it twice but couldn't, so she gave up.

After returning to the military headquarters, the two were busy with their own affairs for a while, and it wasn't until midnight that they went back to their rooms to rest.

In the darkness, Lu Xinghe lay in bed unable to sleep. Thinking about what had happened between him and Luo Ning on this very bed, he unconsciously picked up the communicator he had taken from An Xiaoruo.

She should be asleep by now, or maybe she sneaked out again.

He thought about it and decided to take a look, but the communicator was encrypted. He entered An Xiaoruo's number, but the communicator displayed an error. So he entered his own number, and it was correct.

He couldn't help but smile; his love for her hadn't been in vain.

The image on the communicator was a bit blurry, but it was still mostly visible. Judging from the angle of the lens, the camera should be placed in a flowerpot on the table. An Xiaoruo certainly knew how to hide it.

But Luo Ning wasn't on the bed. He immediately sat up and grabbed his communicator. The communicator showed that Luo Ning was still in the room and hadn't left. But where was she? Had she taken off the bracelet again and run out?

He shouldn't have trusted her so much.

Just as he was about to go out to look for someone, he suddenly saw Luo Ning's figure appear in the camera again. She was wearing that pink dress and sitting at the table drying her wet hair with a towel.

He breathed a sigh of relief; it turned out she had gone to take a shower.

She seemed unaware of the camera in the flowerpot in front of her, slowly drying her hair. The neckline of her dress was a bit low, revealing a large expanse of snow-white skin with her movements, and even a faint outline of her breasts, which were like the finest sweet cake, bouncy and soft.

He paused for a moment, then immediately turned off the communicator and lay back down to continue sleeping. Why was she wearing a skirt in the middle of winter? Hadn't he bought her clothes?

But the more he tried to sleep, the less he could. Finally, he couldn't help but turn on the communicator again. This time, she was still sitting at the table, but instead of drying her hair, she just sat there in a daze.

He didn't know what she was thinking, but he could sense her loneliness and boredom from her expression.

After a while, she finally got up and went to the bed, then lay down and covered herself with the blanket. It was the bed he used to sleep in, and the blanket was the same one he used to use. She didn't move after lying down, seemingly asleep.

He silently turned off the communicator, but his body was screaming, like a beast with nowhere to go, rampaging wildly until the dam burst open and the suppressed urge poured out, but it wasn't enough, it was never enough...

In the following days, the base was preparing to have a smooth New Year. In addition to patrols within the base, more guards were added to the two bridges, the underground monitoring system was kept under constant watch, and the infrasound tower used to drive away the winged aliens was also being inspected. Everyone was busy and dutifully doing their jobs.

As a result, neither Lu Xinghe nor An Xiaoruo had time to see Luo Ning, and Luo Ning stayed alone in her room. She could endure it for the first few days, but starting from the fourth day, she began to experience a strange feeling in her body.

It's like hunger, but not quite; it's like a sudden emptiness in the body, a desire for something to fill it.

She was somewhat afraid of this feeling, something she had never experienced before in all these years, and this feeling was constantly growing and intensifying.

Finally, she couldn't resist pressing the button on the bracelet, which was the way to contact Lu Xinghe.

But she regretted it as soon as she pressed the button. What could he do even if he came? But it was too late to cancel.
