Chapter 85 Stealing Won't Work

Su Mengyan was locked up in the woodshed of the villa. Yunfu was still unconscious. Situ Yao was furious and no one dared to plead for her.

Su Mengyan spent the day in a daze. When she heard footsteps outside, she stood up instantly. She thought it was Situ Yao who came and was about to explain everything to him.

"Yan'er." However, the voice that came was actually Cui Mixue.

Su Mengyan lowered her head in disappointment and asked listlessly, "Miss Cui, what's the situation outside?"

"It's not good." Cui Mixue said outside the woodshed, "The antidote to the poison the princess has been poisoned with has not been found, and her life is in imminent danger."

"Yan'er, did you really poison the princess?" Cui Mixue seemed afraid she would be angry, so she quickly added, "Don't get me wrong, I believe you. With your character, you would never do such a thing."

Su Mengyan guessed that someone deliberately framed her, but she could never have guessed that person would be Cui Mixue, who had just arrived at the villa.

"How is His Highness?" Su Mengyan was eager to know how Situ Yao would deal with her.

"I will plead for you and His Highness." Cui Mixue answered the question irrelevantly. Su Mengyan guessed that Situ Yao probably wanted to kill her now.

After much thought, she couldn't find anyone who could help her. So, desperately, she turned to other options, "Miss Cui, could you please tell His Highness I need to see him and tell him I know where the person who poisoned her is?"

Cui Mixue was startled, but her voice remained steady, without any change in tone. "Don't worry, Yan'er. I will definitely pass on the message."

"Thank you very much." Su Mengyan was extremely grateful, completely unaware that she had thanked the wrong person.

Cui Mixue and Bi Wu hurried back to the house and started to attack as soon as they entered. "Didn't you say it was foolproof and no one would find out? How did Su Mengyan know?"

"Miss, I don't know either, but no one really saw it at the time." Biwu said with certainty.

"What should I do now?" Cui Mixue was at a loss. "If Su Mengyan tells me, I'm done."

"Biwu, go and get rid of the person who poisoned her. That way, even if Su Mengyan tells others, they can only find out that the person is dead and there is no evidence." Cui Mixue did not hesitate at all when talking about human life, as if that person was even more worthless than an ant in her eyes.

Biwu didn't dare to disobey her, otherwise she would be the one to be killed.

The villa was built halfway up the mountain. It was easy to push a person off the cliff without anyone noticing, especially since the person who died was an inconspicuous cook in the kitchen.

Su Mengyan didn't know what was happening outside. She was still waiting for Situ Yao to come. However, the day passed quickly. There was no one outside the woodshed except the people who brought water and food.

Did Cui Mixue fail to convey her message to Situ Yao? Or was he unwilling to come? Whatever the case, Su Mengyan didn't want to passively accept it.

Just then, the maid who was delivering the meal arrived, and Su Mengyan stopped her in time, "Wait a minute, I have something to tell you."

The maid must have been told to stay away and said, "My lady, you'd better behave yourself. If the princess can successfully find the antidote, maybe His Highness will let you go." If Yun Fu didn't wake up, she would be buried with him.

Su Mengyan didn't have any silver on her, so she just pulled out a hairpin and said, "I don't want to see His Highness, I want to see Chunhe."

The pure gold hairpin made the maid feel a little uneasy. She took it secretly but did not agree immediately. "What is the purpose of the young lady meeting a maid?"

"Your Highness will not let me go easily. I still have some things to tell you. The only person I can think of is Chunhe." Su Mengyan said very miserably.

The maid's face showed sympathy and disdain. "If my lady had known this would happen, why would she have tried to murder the princess?"

Su Mengyan didn't explain much, but clasped her hands together and begged her.

"Wait." The maid took the hairpin and left without giving any answer.

Su Mengyan waited anxiously for several hours, then saw Chunhe running over alone, "My lady, you have suffered."

Facing her tears, Su Mengyan was at a loss, "Don't cry first."

"Tell me quickly how the princess is doing." Su Mengyan was very worried about Yunfu's condition. "Have you found the antidote?"

"Not yet." Chun He shook her head. "The doctor knows what the poison is from the cakes you sent me, but he hasn't found the antidote yet, and the princess hasn't woken up yet."

"What about His Highness?" Su Mengyan asked, "What are his plans?"

"My lady, His Highness left the villa yesterday." Chun He looked like she was about to cry. "I believe it wasn't you who poisoned me. What do you want me to do for you?"

"When His Highness comes back, you must bring Him here no matter what." Su Mengyan knew very well that this matter could only be explained clearly to Situ Yao in person.

Chun He was terrified. "They all said, said..."

"What did you say?" Su Mengyan didn't like her hesitation. "Just say it directly."

"They all said that His Highness will make you pay the price." Chun He's tears suddenly flowed from the corners of her eyes. "What will you do if the princess doesn't wake up?"

Su Mengyan was also very confused, and became even more irritated when Chunhe cried.

"Don't worry about what people outside say." Su Mengyan said uncertainly, "I believe that His Highness is not the kind of person who can't tell right from wrong."

"Just remember what I said. When His Highness comes back, no matter what method you use, you must make him come to see me." Su Mengyan emphasized again. As for whether Situ Yao would come, it all depended on her luck.

Situ Yao left the villa to search for an antidote. He shouldn't have left at this critical moment, but to cure Yun Fu's poison, he needed a medicinal herb called the Purple Jade Lotus. The hermit doctor who possessed this herb lived at the foot of the mountain, so he went there himself, uneasy about leaving it to the guards.

The group stood outside and didn't even go into the house of the miracle doctor. Situ Yao's face was so dark that ink could drip out.

"Your Highness, why don't you let your subordinates take down the door?" It was just a wooden door, and only one person could remove it.

At this moment, a child in his early twenties walked out. Facing Situ Yao and the others, he showed no fear at all and said crisply, "Master said that if you want the Purple Jade Lotus, you must give me your most precious thing in exchange, otherwise I won't give it to you."

"Besides, Master's martial arts are extremely high. Even if you all attack him together, you can't defeat him. So stealing won't work." The little kid saw through their thoughts and exposed them without hesitation, which made everyone feel ashamed. They, the dignified guards of the Eastern Palace, were actually being ridiculed by a child.

"Okay." Situ Yao agreed, and even looked less anxious than before.

Because this was undoubtedly good news for him. At least it proved that the extremely precious purple jade lotus existed and was not just a rumor of the world.
