Fu Rongchen escorted Shangguan Yanran to the gate of the Prime Minister's residence and was about to leave when Madam Shangguan came out.

"I just strolled around with a friend," Shangguan Yanran lied.
"You're supposed to meet Young Master Wang tomorrow, why are you still so away from home?" Madam Shangguan scolded.
Shangguan Yanran now feels nauseous whenever she hears the name of Young Master Wang.
"Mother, please spare me. I don't like Young Master Wang."
"You haven't even met him yet, how can you not like him?" Madam Shangguan frowned. "Young Master Wang is learned and knowledgeable, humble and polite. Countless girls in the capital want to marry him. But you, you haven't even met him yet, and you're already complaining about him."
Shangguan Yanran was speechless. If she hadn't just witnessed the disgraceful behavior of Young Master Wang, she probably would have believed her mother's words.
“Those are all lies. Young Master Wang has an immoral private life. If I were to marry him, I would be jumping into a fire pit. Mother, please don’t harm me.”
Upon hearing this, Madam Shangguan's expression changed. "What are you saying, you silly girl? I've worked so hard to arrange things for you, and you're saying I'm harming you?"
