Chapter 258 Throwing into Xie Jingrun's Arms

Rong Qingqing asked suspiciously, "Did Physician Lin really say that?" Or was it something Xie Jingrun made up to mess with her?

Xie Jingrun sensed the doubt in her voice and said unhappily, "Of course he said it."

"But I don't feel any discomfort at all." Rong Qingqing frowned. After soaking in the bath all night, it would be strange if her skin didn't peel off.

“But there are probably still drugs left in your body.” Xie Jingrun said in a deep voice, then softened his tone after thinking for a moment, “Be good and stay in the pool.”

Rong Qingqing paused, looking at the man's tall and imposing back, and couldn't help but ask, "And what about you?"

"Are you hungry?" Xie Jingrun suddenly turned his head and glanced at her.

Rong Qingqing was taken aback, and only then did she realize that her stomach was empty and she was a little hungry.

"Mm." She nodded.

Xie Jingrun didn't say anything more. He unfolded the wet clothes in his hand, put them on, then bent down and added some dry branches to the fire before walking into the dense forest ahead.

As Rong Qingqing watched his retreating figure, she suddenly felt a little scared.

He wouldn't be thinking of leaving her here and walking away alone, would he?

She turned her head and looked around at the dark, dense woods, feeling a chill run down her spine.

"Xie Jingrun, don't leave me!" she suddenly called out to his retreating figure.

Xie Jingrun heard this, stopped in his tracks, turned around and glanced at her, "Stay put."

After saying that, he entered the dense forest and disappeared from sight.

Rong Qingqing lay on the edge of the pool, looking at the bonfire on the shore.

When she saw the neatly folded clothes on the grass beside her, she had a sudden thought and wanted to go ashore to get dressed, but then she hesitated when she remembered what Xie Jingrun had said.

She didn't feel anything wrong with her body, but Xie Jingrun wouldn't be so bored as to lie to her.

She bit her lip, looking conflicted.

Xie Jingrun had shot a pheasant and was walking back when he suddenly heard Rong Qingqing scream.

His expression changed, he threw away the pheasant in his hand, and quickly flew towards the hot spring pool.

In the hot spring pool, Rong Qingqing screamed and ran around wildly.

Just then, she heard the sound of water nearby. She turned her head and her eyes lit up when she saw Xie Jingrun. As if she had seen a savior, she rushed over without hesitation and said in a trembling voice, "Xie Jingrun, there are snakes in the water!"

Xie Jingrun reached out and put his arm around her waist. He looked closely and saw a gray snake swimming over from the other side of the water.

He narrowed his eyes, swiftly reached into the water, grabbed the water snake that had terrified Rong Qingqing, and threw it far away.

"Okay, it's alright now." Xie Jingrun patted her back.

Rong Qingqing nestled in his arms, still feeling lingering fear as she thought about what had just happened.

Every girl is afraid of snakes, and she was no exception.

Xie Jingrun noticed her quietness, looked down and saw that her face was pale and her lips were trembling, clearly she was very frightened.

He couldn't help but feel guilty.

If he had known this would happen, he shouldn't have left.

“I’ve killed the snake, it’s alright now, don’t be afraid.” He gently stroked her back, clumsily trying to comfort her.

At this moment, Rong Qingqing let out a soft hiss.

Xie Jingrun was startled and quickly looked down to check, "What's wrong?"

"Xie Jingrun, I was just bitten by a snake..." Rong Qingqing cried, holding up her arm to show him. "Will it be poisonous?"

Xie Jingrun paused, only then noticing two small holes on her snow-white arm, from which blood was oozing.

Seeing this, Xie Jingrun felt a pang of sympathy. When he saw the girl's pale face and worried expression, he swallowed back the words of comfort he was about to say.

He said nothing, but instead held her arm and lowered his head to suck on her wound.
