Xie Jingrun smiled and handed her the chicken leg, saying, "Eat it."
"Thank you." Rong Qingqing accepted it.
I was just asleep and didn't feel hungry, but now that I've woken up, I'm starving.
She was so focused on eating that she didn't realize she was still leaning against Xie Jingrun's chest.
After finishing a chicken leg and discarding the bone, she looked at her greasy fingers and was about to wash them with water when a handkerchief with a refreshing fragrance was placed on her mouth.
She was stunned for a moment before she realized what was happening.
Seeing the man's patient demeanor, she paused and said, "I can do it myself."
Xie Jingrun glanced down at her, but didn't insist, and gave her the handkerchief.
Rong Qingqing took the handkerchief and wiped her mouth.
After wiping, just as I was about to put the handkerchief in water to wash it clean, I paused for a moment when I saw the pattern on the handkerchief.
In the middle of the handkerchief, a worm was embroidered crookedly.
Upon seeing the embroidered pattern on the handkerchief, she immediately recognized it as the one she had asked Xiao Tao to teach her to embroider.
She intended to embroider a butterfly, but ended up embroidering an insect instead.
She glanced at Xie Jingrun with a complicated expression.
Why is this guy hiding her handkerchief?
"What's wrong?" Xie Jingrun noticed the strange look in her eyes and asked in a deep voice.
Rong Qingqing waved the handkerchief in her hand. "My lord, if I remember correctly, this handkerchief should be mine, right?"
Xie Jingrun's gaze fell on the handkerchief in her hand. He paused, a hint of unease flashing across his handsome face, and snatched the handkerchief back. "Who said it was yours?"
Rong Qingqing narrowed her eyes slightly. "The insect on top was embroidered by me."
"An insect?" Xie Jingrun was taken aback, thinking: So it was an insect? He looked at it for a long time, thinking it was a leaf.
He gave her a complicated look, coughed lightly, and said seriously, "You're mistaken. That's not an insect; it's just a leaf."
Rong Qingqing's lips twitched. What kind of look was that?
He mistook a perfectly normal worm for a leaf.
“That’s mine too,” she said, and tried to snatch the handkerchief back from his hand.
Xie Jingrun quickly stuffed the handkerchief into his pocket, frowned, and said unhappily, "I already said it's not yours."
Rong Qingqing paused, "How can you be so shameless?"
"Isn't the thick one yours?" Xie Jingrun retorted, then his eyes narrowed slightly. "If you really want it, I'll give you something else next time."
Rong Qingqing looked at him suspiciously, "What?"
Xie Jingrun turned around and went ashore. "You'll find out when the time comes."
Rong Qingqing realized she had been tricked and jumped up and down in the pool, saying, "Who wants your things? I just want my things back."
"I don't have anything of yours on me," Xie Jingrun said calmly as he walked towards the nearby bushes.
Seeing this, Rong Qingqing called out, "Hey, where are you going?"
Xie Jingrun glanced back at her, said nothing, but stopped with his back to her.
Rong Qingqing was wondering what was going on when she suddenly heard a rustling sound.
She froze for a moment, and when she realized what the sound was, she quickly turned around.
That scoundrel Xie Jingrun, can't he just go somewhere further away?
After Xie Jingrun finished, he did not go back into the pool. Instead, he sat down again by the fire and poked at the dry branches in the fire with a tree branch.
Rong Qingqing was bored, so she lay on the edge of the pool, looking at the faintly lit horizon in the distance.
"It should be getting light soon, right?" she murmured to herself.
