Chapter 373 The Powerful Beloved

Amidst a deafening cheer, Mo Lan was escorted back to the main hall of the mountain stronghold by the crowd. As for the carriage, she didn't need to worry about it at all, as it was carried up the mountain by the crowd with a combination of pulling and pushing.

Tingyu followed obediently beside her, never knowing that Molan was so popular in the mountain village.

The hall was brightly lit, and because of the New Year, red lanterns were hung everywhere in the village, each with a small umbrella hanging on it to protect against the wind and snow, which looked quite cute.

"Haha... It's good that you're back. I thought my daughter wouldn't be able to make it back before the New Year." Hua Yifei looked his daughter up and down. She had lost some weight, seemed to have grown taller, and looked a little paler.

“Niece, you don’t know, your father started talking about it half a month ago, afraid that you wouldn’t be able to come back for the New Year. And here you are, right?” The second-in-command, Xiong Jianwu, looked at Mo Lan, his beard trembling with laughter.

After being greeted by everyone, Mo Lan finally had a chance to sit down, have a cup of tea, and catch her breath. Seeing the New Year's goods that had been brought in, she immediately gave instructions to the four boys surrounding her.

"These are gifts for everyone. Except for those with names on them, the rest should be distributed among the brothers. Also, don't make the kids cry."

"Don't worry, boss, we'll complete the mission." Xiong Da and the others patted their chests and agreed with smiles. Now that life in the mountain stronghold was better, they no longer coveted each other's food like before.

Mo Lan had been gone for more than half a year. Now that they were finally reunited, everyone chatted and laughed, and in the process, they told Mo Lan everything about the village.

Hearing that the mountain stronghold was safe and sound, Mo Lan felt at ease and shared a few interesting stories from her various experiences until the hour of Hai (9-11 PM) before they dispersed.

Back in her courtyard, Mo Lan realized that Ting Yu was still by her side; she had almost forgotten about him.

"Brother, have someone vacate the guest room next door so Tingyu can stay there. We can talk about it tomorrow." Since returning, Hua Fengyu has been standing by his side the whole time, and apart from keeping a smile on his face, he hasn't tried to ask any questions.

"You must be tired from your journey, little sister. Leave the rest to me. We can talk after you've rested." Hua Fengyu said, and then told Tingyu to stay in the front yard.

"Miss, you're finally back." As soon as Mo Lan stepped into her courtyard, a figure rushed over. Fortunately, she reacted quickly and managed to steady herself, otherwise she would have been bitten by the snow.

"Hua Bao, Miss has finally returned. She's been exhausted from the day in the front hall. Please let her come inside; it's so cold outside."

As they were talking, Granny Jiang came over with a bowl of soup and said with a smile, "Miss, you've come back just in time. This old servant has made you some sweet soup."

"Thank you for your hard work, Grandma," Mo Lan patted Hua Bao's shoulder and followed her into the house.

"Miss, as soon as we heard you were back, Granny Jiang told me to quickly heat the kang (heated brick bed) and change the bedding. Feel it, is it warm?" Hua Bao followed Mo Lan, chattering incessantly.

"Hua Bao is still the most obedient, she knows how to care for me." Mo Lan looked at the girl who had grown another head, then turned to Granny Jiang, "How is Granny's health?"

"Thanks to Miss, this old servant is in good health. There are only this old servant and Hua Bao in the courtyard. We only occasionally take care of the young master and son-in-law, and we don't do anything else."

"Miss, your mother-in-law and I have been making new clothes for you. We've made two sets from head to toe, plus two fur cloaks. You can wear them tomorrow."
