Chapter Fifty-Two: The Night Was Restless

Given that someone with a special identity lives here, it's not surprising that extra security measures are in place.

After dinner, Mo Lan told Hua Bao to get some rest, since this place was a place of trouble and it was not advisable to stay any longer.

We'll make do for one night and then find another inn to stay at tomorrow.

The thought of the cold, ruthless eyes of the Green-Faced Fox made her want to stay far away and not be touched by them at all.

She is not suited to get involved in anything too dangerous right now.

She didn't know how long she had slept, but suddenly, Mo Lan opened her sharp and cold eyes.

In just a moment of focused concentration, he sensed an unusual atmosphere in the inn.

Sigh, she just wanted to spend one night with him.

Since she couldn't sleep, Mo Lan simply got up, sat on a chair by the window, poured herself a cup of tea, and waited quietly.

On a summer midnight, a gentle breeze blows, bringing a cool sensation that makes one feel comfortable all over.

A few scattered stars and a crescent moon that appeared and disappeared intermittently hung in the night sky.

The chirping of insects echoed from the surrounding grass from time to time. If it weren't for the overly oppressive atmosphere, one might actually be able to compose a poem in this setting.

Mo Lan leaned back in her chair, finding herself a comfortable spot. In the entire backyard, the only light flickered under the eaves, creating an eerie atmosphere and giving off a sense of dread.

Being chased so badly, the Qin family is definitely not an ordinary family. However, the fact that they would condescend to stay at the Qinshan Inn suggests that the person's injuries were quite serious.

As Mo Lan was pondering, she was surprised to find a dark figure standing under the pomegranate tree in the backyard.

The visual effect of her blending seamlessly with the night was absolutely chilling at first glance. If it weren't for the fact that her angle and the flickering lantern formed a diagonal, she would have been completely unnoticed.

The shadowy figure, perhaps sensing Mo Lan's gaze, suddenly turned around. Instinctively, she leaned back to avoid it.

Just then, with a few rustling sounds, many men in black suddenly appeared in the backyard.

The change happened in an instant; after the people surrounded them, their gazes fixed on the window disappeared.

Mo Lan straightened up and looked at the backyard again, her brows furrowed. It seemed that a tough battle was inevitable.

I wonder if the Blue-Faced Fox can handle it? Being followed and attacked means the other party must be a tough nut to crack.

Tonight is destined to be anything but peaceful. Even the crescent moon in the night sky has quietly hidden behind the clouds. Under the dark and windy night, anything dark can be concealed.

Fortunately, he was just an observer; all he needed was a pair of eyes.

"You guys know how to pick a location; it's really easy to find."

In the pitch-black night, accompanied by a hoarse, mocking sound, a man in black suddenly appeared on the roof of the backyard.

"Enough with the nonsense. Since you're here, stay." As he spoke, the guard hidden in the courtyard emerged from the shadows, his tone equally sarcastic.

"Hehe... Whether you stay or leave is not up to you. You're just a bunch of stray dogs."

The hoarse voice carried a hint of ruthlessness, and as the man slowly raised his hand, a fight was about to break out.

"Enough talk, kill."

After the tension was high, the two sides clashed directly, and the sound of their weapons clashing was particularly clear in the quiet night.

Mo Lan watched for a while and finally realized that something was wrong. The fight in the backyard was in full swing, but the entire inn was as if it had been under a spell, with no sound at all.
