Chapter Seventy-Six: Sweeping Through the Study (shuhaige.net)

It's heartbreaking that her own mother would fall for a stranger.

Indulging Chen Kun's various behaviors might just be a tactic to get his mother's attention!

Poor child!

Thinking of this, Mo Lan blinked and smugly congratulated herself on her sudden inspiration.

As long as Jiang Mian doesn't intend to cause her trouble, she won't continue to observe other people's personal grudges.

As she left the Jiang residence, Mo Lan couldn't help but turn her head for a glance, but found nothing except the rustling of leaves.

Fifteen minutes later,

Mo Lan stood on the Chen family's wall, observed intently for a moment, and then curled her lips into a smile. The Chen family didn't even have any secret guards. Apart from the patrolling guards, she couldn't sense any threat at all.

This low-end configuration is really no match for the Jiang family's.

Mo Lan shook her head, leaped into the courtyard, and walked towards the most lively section.

Sitting on the roof, without even needing to remove the tiles, one could clearly hear Chen Kun's groans and howls, interspersed with his parents' disgruntled curses and attempts to soothe him.

Seeing the chaotic scene unfolding in the house, Mo Lan stood on the roof, gazing at the entire Chen residence.

She had no interest in listening to what was happening at the corner of the Chen family's house. After identifying her target, she headed straight for the backyard.

After wandering through several rooms, I finally found the Chen family's study. The room was lavishly decorated with rows of bookshelves filled with works by famous scholars, collections of essays and poems, and a few historical books and ancient texts.

I've heard Hua Fengyu say that books were very precious in this era, and ordinary people couldn't afford them at all. Those poor students who wanted to read could only buy copies or pay a deposit to borrow books.

I never expected Chen Han to have collected so many books.

Thinking of how he was so obsequious and sycophantic in the Jiang family mansion, I thought he was a complete fool.

Indeed, appearances can be deceiving.

It's true that reading helps people understand principles, but it also depends on the person's character.

Not everyone can understand reason. For someone with impure motives, reading will only make them more sophisticated in their pretense.

Thinking of this, Mo Lan flicked the pointer in her hand, but stopped as soon as she raised it. Rather than destroying these books, she would rather move them back to the village and give them to Hua Fengyu, that sensitive boy.

“Tomb Spirit, collect these books into the Mandala and give them to my elder brother later.”

"Yes, boss." As soon as the tomb spirit finished speaking, a gentle breeze blew by, and the entire study suddenly became empty.

Without these books as decoration, the entire study would lose its charm.

"What's this?"

Mo Lan walked to a bookshelf and looked at a small, black, square box left in one of the shelves. She hadn't noticed it before; it was clearly hidden behind a book.

What good things were hidden in that box?

Out of curiosity, Mo Lan reached out and touched it, only to find that the box was fixed to the bookshelf.

Mo Lan fumbled around for a while, then twisted her fingers and heard a snap. The bookcase split in two, revealing an underground passage.

Looking at the dark entrance, Mo Lan paused for a moment, then turned to look at the guards who occasionally passed by in the courtyard. If she had known there was such an entrance, she would have packed up her books a little later.

"Boss, I'll set up a trap in the study. Even if Chen Han comes, it will delay him for a while. That should be enough for you."

As the spirit of the tomb spoke, a layer of white mist gradually rose in the study, carrying a faint sense of coolness.

Mo Lan took out a solar-powered flashlight and slowly walked down the wooden stairs.
