Nanzhi silently repeated the names of these dishes in her heart.
She likes Kung Pao Chicken, loves Spicy Crayfish, and enjoys Hot and Sour Shredded Potatoes. Banana Pastry is a perfect after-dinner snack.
Her eyes lit up, and she turned to look at Shen Xingmian excitedly, completely forgetting the little bit of reserve she had just maintained:
"Mr. Shen, it turns out that you and I have similar tastes in food. It just so happens that I also like to eat these."
A glint flashed in Shen Xingmian's eyes, as if confirming something, before she nodded slightly.
"I'm glad you like it."
Lian Jin couldn't help but turn his gaze to Nan Zhi.
No one had ever received such treatment from Shen Xingmian, who even knew all of his preferences.
She is indeed a very pretty little girl; I don't understand what Xingmian likes about her.
Upon hearing Nan Zhi's words, Hu Lai, a beat slow to react, suddenly realized and exclaimed:
"Old Shen, so you ordered this for Miss Nan? I knew it, you hate spicy food and sweets the most."
He said it with a smug look on his face, as if he had done something great.
Nan Zhi was stunned. How could that be? She was certain that Shen Xingmian had no idea about her preferences.
Then he looked at Hu Lai with a smile and asked, "Mr. Hu, do you like salt?"
Hu Lai: "Huh? Salt? That depends on the situation."
Shen Xingmian: "..."
Lian Jin: "..."
Nanzhi rolled her eyes. Who asked you so many questions? She smiled and said, "I think you really like to eat, because you're free."
Hu Lai: "..." I really want to hurl insults at him indirectly.
At this moment, the waiters filed in and placed the dishes one by one on the round table.
Once all the dishes had been served, Nanzhi counted them; there were nine dishes in total, four of which were added by Shen Xingmian just now.
"Mr. Shen, you are so frugal, only ordering five dishes for three people."
Nanzhi turned her head, her eyes forming crescent moons, and laughed freely.
Shen Xingmian looked at her eyes and brows, his expression softening, and said seriously, "Frugality is a traditional virtue."
Lian Jin: "..." What a double standard! Miss Nan alone has four.
During the meal, when Nanzhi saw a plate of peeled shrimp being handed to her, countless questions popped into her mind.
"Miss, Shen Xingmian is taking care of you. Keep it up!"
After Miaomiao added her own embellishments, Nanzhi swallowed the food in her mouth, turned to look at Shen Xingmian, and blinked:
"Thank you, Mr. Shen."
Shen Xingmian remained calm and composed: "I just accidentally peeled too many."
Nan Zhi: "..." It seems she was overthinking it.
One food after another was stuffed into his mouth.
Who knew that after accepting Nan Zhi's thanks, Shen Xingmian would keep putting things in Nan Zhi's place, as if feeding a cat.
"Um... Mr. Shen, could you please stop being so careless? I've almost finished the whole plate of shrimp."
Finally, when they couldn't eat anymore, Nanzhi spoke up to stop them.
This time, Shen Xingmian finally stopped. She placed the freshly peeled shrimp on her plate and didn't touch them.
Hu Lai was puzzled and handed over his plate, "Old Shen, you accidentally peeled too much again, didn't you? Give it to me, I can still eat it."
Lian Jin glanced at Hu Lai with an idiotic look in his eyes.
Shen Xingmian: "......"
Instead of handing over the shrimp, Shen Xingmian picked one up and put it in her mouth.
Hu Lai glanced at him, annoyed: "Old Shen, you're really not being fair. You accidentally peeled too many, but you'd rather waste them yourself than give them to me."
Nanzhi's gaze shifted, and she asked in confusion:
"How can it be considered a waste for Mr. Shen to eat it?"
Hu Lai spoke up angrily:
"He kept accidentally peeling extra pieces, so why did he eat them all himself when it came to me? He clearly thinks I'm easy to bully."
As soon as he finished speaking, Shen Xingmian looked up at him and nodded, "You're quite self-aware."
Hu Lai: "......" Miss Nan clearly gave it all.
"Nanzhi, what kind of bewitching potion did you give him? Pass it on to me, and I'll call you grandma."
Nan Zhi glared at him. He really knew how to rub salt in the wound. How was she supposed to respond? Persistently cling to him? Make a scene, throw a tantrum, or threaten suicide?
Shen Xingmian put down her chopsticks and picked up a tissue to wipe her mouth.
Upon hearing this, he gave Hu Lai a half-smile, which made Hu Lai shiver.
Then Shen Xingmian tapped on the table in front of Nanzhi. Nanzhi turned to look at him, and the man said calmly, his tone neither hot nor cold:
"Hu Lai, you can automatically filter."
He then pointed in Lian Jin's direction, "This is Lian Jin. You can contact him if you need anything in the future. Get their contact information later."
Lian Jin stood up with a faint smile and extended his hand, "Miss Nan."
Nan Zhi quickly stood up and shook hands with him politely, saying, "Hello, Mr. Lian."
Nan Zhi thought to herself: Since he is Shen Xingmian's friend, she should remind Lian Jin later.
We need to find an opportunity to talk about Lian Chuchu, lest Lian Jin end up being kicked out of the Lian family.
Hu Lai felt insulted and snorted unhappily.
But nobody paid him any attention.
