Shu Lan held the little boy in her arms, and the boy, frightened, buried his head in Shu Lan's chest. Shu Lan, dressed in flowing white robes, appeared even more handsome and otherworldly in the sunlight, like a celestial being descended to earth.
Just then, the little boy's mother finally arrived. She kept thanking Shu Lan, and even tried to kneel down and kowtow.
Shu Lan quickly stopped her, saying only, "Take good care of your child from now on," before slipping away from the crowd.
After leaving the crowd, Qin An rushed to Shu Lan's side. "Master, why did you care about that child?" Heaven knows how much his heart ached when he saw that child being held in Master's arms. He also wanted to be held in Master's arms.
"Because it was a little life too!"
"But we are cultivators. What business is it of us to deal with the affairs of mortals?"
“But cultivators are still human. Humans are equal. We should treat them with a normal heart. And not only humans, but all things in this world have spirits; we should treat them with equality as well.” Shu Lan ruffled Qin An’s hair. “Do you understand?”
"Mm." Qin An nodded. Although he didn't know why his master brother emphasized the equality of all beings, he would listen to whatever his master brother said. After all, his master brother was such a good person; he was so kind and approachable to everyone and everything. How could one not admire him?
