Chapter 347 Entering the Basement
Finally catching Yin Li, Hu Xiner didn't want to delay any longer and dragged him straight to the woods in the backyard of the Liu family.
The guards are stationed around the forest and are not allowed to enter the forbidden area without orders.
With Yin Li around, the two of them easily sneaked into the forbidden area.
However, when they really arrived at the basement in the forest, Hu Xiner was dumbfounded!
I saw that the entrance to the tunnel next to the small land temple was wide open, and judging by the traces, it was obvious that someone had already entered.
"This... could it be that someone else has been here?" Hu Xin'er was puzzled.
Yin Li hit her on the head with the handle of the fan: "Stupid, guess again!"
"It's impossible that you sneaked in?" Hu Xin'er looked suspicious.
Yin Li said proudly: "You don't dare to go in, right? So I have already explored it for you!"
"What?" Hu Xin'er suspected that she was hallucinating.
She looked at the key in her hand and fell into deep thought: "How did you get in?"
Yin Li waved his fan and said with a smile, "As long as this Pavilion Master wants to go anywhere, I can go anywhere in heaven and on earth. Why would I need this useless key?"
Hu Xin'er still didn't quite believe it: "Are you sure you weren't the one who secretly gave me the envelope that day? This key was indeed given to me by you, so you were able to get in so easily."
Yin Li snorted softly: "Believe it or not."
If he tried hard to prove that he was not the one who stuffed the envelope, Hu Xin'er would definitely suspect him.
But now, his nonchalant attitude made Hu Xiner undecided.
"Okay, then I'll reluctantly believe you this time." Hu Xiner finally chose to believe Yin Li.
Yin Li said proudly: "How is it? Now that you have seen the true strength of this Pavilion Master, are you full of admiration? Are you about to bow down before my robe?"
"Haha," Hu Xin'er didn't buy his trick and patted his shoulder with a smile, "I should have thought of it earlier. For an old monster like you who has lived for so many years, knowing a little lock picking skill is nothing."
Yin Li's face suddenly darkened: "Who are you calling the old monster?"
Hu Xin'er cleverly changed the subject: "Since you said you helped me explore inside, what did you find?"
Hearing this, Yin Li's face showed a strange look: "If I say that I found nothing in there, would you believe it?"
A string of ellipsis appeared in Hu Xiner's head.
The two looked at each other, and Yin Li smiled awkwardly, "I was so busy cracking the mechanism inside that I forgot to find clues for you... No, this is not my mission, why should I help you find clues?"
He said it with a very righteous tone.
This guy is really too unreliable! Hu Xiner just thought his identity was very unusual, but now she was complaining madly in her heart.
But seeing that Yin Li still had some conscience, she suppressed her urge to hit him, took a few deep breaths and said, "Okay, it's okay, I'll find it myself."
Yin Li followed her closely, fanning herself: "Hey, you haven't thanked me yet!"
Veins on Hu Xin'er's forehead throbbed, and she squeezed out a few words from between her teeth: "Thank you."
She thought silently, if I am guilty, God can let the law punish me, instead of sending Yin Li, this narcissistic and annoying guy, to make me angry!
A cool breeze blew from the tunnel entrance, and Hu Xiner stepped on the steps and walked down carefully.
When I went in again, the lights were on inside. There was thick dust on the steps, but there were obvious traces of footprints on them.
As they walked along, they did not encounter any attacks from any mechanisms. Hu Xiner knew that this was something Yin Li did on purpose.
But she had no time to express her gratitude to Yin Li at this moment. Just now at the tunnel entrance, the two of them were still laughing and cursing, but now there was only silence in the tunnel.
The relaxed atmosphere from before was gone, and even the air was solemn with a hint of impatience.
After walking up the long and narrow stairs, a long corridor comes into view. The corridor is winding and has no end in sight. It can only accommodate one person.
If you build a wall of earth in front and behind a person, it will be a natural coffin.
Only the flickering candlelight on the wall symbolized that there was still some thin air inside that could sustain human life.
After walking through the corridor, Hu Xiner's eyes suddenly opened up. It turned out to be an extremely spacious underground warehouse!
The entire underground warehouse was shaped like a round pancake. After passing through the deep, narrow and long corridor just now, Hu Xiner felt a little shocked when she suddenly saw such a scene in front of her.
However, after the shock, there was deep doubt.
She walked out of the corridor and looked around carefully. There seemed to be traces of boxes placed here.
This is natural. After all, it is a basement, and according to rumors, it is also used to store the Liu family's gold, silver and jewelry.
However, there is no gold, silver or jewelry in the basement now, nor is there any clue or evidence of the Lu family tragedy, the reason why Hu Xiner came here!
The sound of footsteps echoed in the basement.
Hu Xiner searched for a while and finally confirmed that not only was the place empty, but there were no patterns on the walls or the ground. It didn't look like there were any clues at all!
"What's going on?" She looked at Yin Li in confusion, "Where did you put the things here?"
"Are you talking about the Liu family's gold, silver, and treasures?" Yin Li shook her head. "The Liu family has been struggling over the years. I guess all that money has been used by Old Master Liu to buy calligraphy, paintings, and antiques, right?"
"You mean, when you came here, there was nothing here?" Hu Xin'er frowned slowly. "Didn't you find any evidence or clues? About the Lu family or the prince... not even a small note or object!"
Yin Li asked in return: "Who told you there is evidence here?"
"No one." Hu Xin'er pursed her lips, "I only have a note and a key."
Yin Li said with some regret: "That might just be what others said."
Hu Xin'er immediately retorted, "Impossible! Who would be so bored as to tease me?"
"Then why is there nothing here?" Yin Li asked directly.
Hu Xin'er couldn't explain it.
Yin Li sighed: "I know it's hard for you to accept it now, but it seems there is no evidence here at all. Why don't we go out first?"
"This..." Hu Xin'er was a little unwilling, "I'll look for it again."
"What's there to look for?" Yin Li knocked her head with the handle of her fan. "Doesn't the Lu family have a feud with the Crown Prince? Maybe this is just a deliberate trick by the Crown Prince. Let's go."
He pulled Hu Xiner out.
Hu Xin'er subconsciously followed him for two steps, then suddenly stopped: "Wait! Why do you seem to be trying to get me to leave the basement all day long?"
After realizing this, she ignored Yin Li's dissuasion and began to search for clues in the basement.
Yin Li was about to pull her away, but she accidentally pressed a button and a mechanism sounded quietly...
