Chapter 348 Yin Li's Abnormality
A door slowly opened in front of the two of them.
Behind the door was another seemingly endless corridor.
The dim candlelight flickered, like some kind of invitation.
"Don't tell me you haven't noticed this place!" Hu Xiner glared at Yin Li, lifted her skirt and was about to walk forward.
Yin Li held her back, the worry on her face not fake: "I don't know if there are any traps in here. You are pregnant now, so you should not take any risks, right?"
"Now that I'm here, do you think I could retreat?" Hu Xin'er originally thought he was lying to her, but seeing his expression, she put aside her suspicions and asked back seriously.
Yin Li looked into her eyes with a complicated expression: "Xin'er, please don't go over there."
"Why?" Hu Xin'er looked puzzled. "Yin Li, why are you acting so abnormally today? Don't worry, this is just a basement. Even if there are traps inside, it won't be too dangerous."
"You're just a weak woman. Can you think about yourself? And the child in your belly?" Yin Li advised in a rare gentle tone, "Go back first. I'll bring you here after I've thoroughly explored this place, okay?"
Hu Xin'er scratched her head. "What nonsense are you talking about? If you can figure it out by yourself, wouldn't it be the same if you took me there now?"
"I'm worried..." Yin Li wanted to say something.
Hu Xin'er shook off his hand and ran straight inside: "Don't dither! If you're afraid of death, go back now. I must find the evidence here today!"
Yin Li thought he could hold her back for some time, but he didn't expect her attitude to be so firm.
Hu Xiner was like a flying kite, breaking the silk string and rushing into the dark corridor without hesitation.
Yin Li's heart skipped a beat.
Before Hu Xiner could react, she was caught by him again.
Yin Li pulled her out, her tone unusually stern: "Hu Xin'er, be obedient and don't be so impulsive."
"I'm not impulsive!" Hu Xiner pushed him away forcefully.
She took two steps back, facing Yin Li's unexpected look, and said calmly, "Yin Li, I hope you can understand that you have helped me a lot, and I do need your help now, but that doesn't mean I can't do without you, and it doesn't mean that my actions will be controlled by you."
The purpose of her coming to the Liu family was to investigate the basement. Even if the Jade Emperor came today, he couldn't stop her!
Yin Li wanted to say something, but was interrupted by her.
The expression on Hu Xiner's face now was calm yet resolute, completely different from her usual appearance.
She said firmly, "You can't stop me, Yin Li."
She made this decision not because she was arguing with Yin Li as usual, nor because she was acting on impulse.
If she left here today, she might never have the chance to explore the basement again - this was her intuition.
And Yin Li's behavior today always made her feel weird.
She didn't want to assume the worst about her friend, but she also had no way of completely obeying Yin Li.
Yin Li looked at her, not ignoring the flash of wariness in her eyes.
After a while, he felt a little absurd and said, "Hu Xin'er, you doubt me. You are actually doubting me now?"
Hu Xin'er said softly, "Of course I hope you have nothing to do with the Lu family or the underground library, but your behavior today doesn't tell me that."
Yin Li cursed softly: "The Lu family? Is that kind of thing worth my worrying about? What I'm really worried about is..."
His words died in his throat and stopped abruptly.
Hu Xiner didn't have time to guess what he was thinking, so she just took another step back.
"Hey!" Yin Li subconsciously called out to her, and said irritably, "Hu Xin'er, is the Lu family's troubles all on your mind? Have you ever thought about yourself? Have you ever considered that the truth at the end of this corridor might be too much for you to bear?"
"Have you been in there?" Hu Xiner's pupils shrank.
Yin Li closed his mouth and looked away.
Hu Xiner then realized that Yin Li might have already found out everything in advance, but had been pretending to be ignorant and trying to dissuade her.
The end of this corridor might not be as simple as she imagined.
However, the evidence is right in front of her. For Mu Qing and for the future peace of the Lu family, Hu Xiner will never back down!
"Thank you." Her expression softened a little and she said to Yin Li sincerely.
Yin Li was stunned, thinking that Hu Xin'er had taken his words to heart.
Unexpectedly, after Hu Xiner finished speaking, she walked in without looking back.
Yin Li opened his mouth but closed it again, with a sharp look in his eyes. Seeing that he could not persuade Hu Xiner, he stepped forward again, ready to take her away by brute force.
But at this moment, Hu Xiner suddenly took out the green bamboo pen and pressed it squarely against Yin Li's neck!
Yin Li never expected Hu Xin'er to resist, nor did she take her struggle to heart.
But a pen shattered all his confidence.
The brush tip is soft, and the brush washed with warm water is not stained with ink. Each brush tip is snow-white and looks gentle and harmless.
The fingernails of the hand holding the pen were smooth and round, without any internal strength, and there was even a slight tremor.
Yin Li knew that he had the ability to be immortal.
So he was never afraid of getting hurt.
But now, in this dim candlelight, the entrance to the deep and winding corridor.
The wind in the dungeon brought a chill that penetrated into the bone marrow. The woman in front of him had a cold gaze, and the pen against his neck was very cold.
His expression was panicked for a moment.
And Hu Xin'er did not miss his reaction.
She lowered her eyes slightly, then raised them again, smiling with some relief: "You are indeed afraid."
Yin Li had returned to his usual, demanding look. He looked at the brush beside his neck in surprise, then at Hu Xin'er: "No way, no way? Are you planning to use this broken brush to stop me?"
"Stop pretending." Hu Xin'er held the brush steadily against his neck. "I've always wondered why so many strange phenomena happened around this brush, but now I understand—"
Yin Li sneered: "You are simply weird..."
Hu Xin'er interrupted him, "It seems that when I'm in danger, this pen will function as a weapon. I don't know how it works, but if I want to stop you, no matter how powerful you are, it seems you won't be able to resist."
Without waiting for Yin Li to refute, she smiled and said, "Otherwise, you wouldn't have been able to break free with me holding your neck for so long, right?"
After a brief silence, Yin Li smiled helplessly: "It's a shame to be controlled by a little girl like you."
Hu Xiner breathed a sigh of relief and smiled cunningly.
The two continued walking into the corridor...
