Chapter 184 A Brief Rest on a Perilous Journey, but the Clouds of Sorrow Remain

"Mu Xue! Mu Xue!"

The anxious shouts of her teammates echoed in Mu Xue's ears. She tried to open her heavy eyelids, but felt powerless.

“Team Leader Ning… Team Leader Ning…” Another team member’s voice trembled, filled with deep fear and helplessness.

Mu Xue woke up with a start, forcing her eyes open despite the excruciating pain. As her vision gradually cleared, she saw her teammates gathered around her, their faces filled with worry and exhaustion.

"How is Ning Yu?" Mu Xue struggled to sit up, but felt a wave of dizziness and her vision went black; she almost fainted again.

"Don't move!" A teammate quickly caught her and said worriedly, "You've done your best. Now the most important thing is you and Team Leader Ning."

Only then did Mu Xue see the scene around her clearly: devastation and utter chaos. After the fierce battle, the ground was littered with the corpses of wild beasts and the scattered weapons and equipment of her team members. What horrified her even more was that a lot of supplies were scattered on the ground, much of them damaged, while Ning Yu still lay quietly on the ground, showing no signs of waking up.

"Quick! Check on Team Leader Ning's injury!" Mu Xue urged anxiously.

A team member with some medical knowledge immediately stepped forward, intending to provide Ning Yu with some basic treatment. However, as soon as he lifted Ning Yu's sleeve, his expression turned grim.

"What's wrong?" Mu Xue's heart jumped into her throat.

“Team Leader Ning’s injury is more serious than we thought,” the player said with a deep frown. “We simply don’t have enough medical supplies!”

Mu Xue's heart sank. They were now in the middle of nowhere, far from the base, and were being attacked by a group of powerful beasts. The situation was extremely critical. To make matters worse, Ning Yu was still unconscious, and his fate was unknown.

"And..." the team member hesitated, glanced around, and lowered his voice, "We're still in a danger zone. Those beasts could come back at any moment!"

His words cast a shadow over everyone's hearts, and fear and despair spread through the ranks.

Just then, a hand grabbed the team member's arm, and Mu Xue, with strength she didn't know she possessed, managed to stand up...

"What are you all standing there for! If you want to die, stay here!" Mu Xue's voice was hoarse but firm. She held onto the shoulders of the team members beside her and tried to stand up straight. "Take everything that can still be used. We have to get out of here immediately!"

Her words jolted the team members awake. Recalling the hellish scene they had just witnessed, they all shuddered. Suppressing their injuries, they began to gather the scattered supplies. However, fear and despair spread like a plague through the group, making everyone's movements slow and clumsy.

"Water! My water..." A team member cried out in despair, clutching a broken water bottle, which had already leaked out completely.

“My first aid kit was also torn to shreds by those beasts…” Another team member slumped to the ground, a gruesome wound on his arm from which blood was gushing.

Looking at everything before her, Mu Xue felt as if an invisible hand was gripping her heart tightly, making it almost impossible for her to breathe. Food, water, medicine... these necessities for survival were now almost gone, and they were still in danger, their future uncertain.

"Captain, look!" A team member picked up a crushed metal can from the ground and cried out in despair, "These damned beasts have ruined everything edible!"

Mu Xue walked over and looked at the shredded can, a deep sense of powerlessness washing over her. She forced herself to calm down and carefully examined each item, hoping to find some usable resources. However, cruel reality repeatedly crushed her.

Time ticked by, the sun set, and darkness fell. The team members who had gathered supplies returned one after another, their faces etched with frustration and despair. What they brought back wasn't even enough to sustain the team for a single day.

"Captain Mou..." a team member's voice trembled, on the verge of tears, "What should we do?"

Mu Xue did not answer. She slowly walked to Ning Yu's side and gently knelt down. His face was as pale as paper, and his breathing was weak, as if he might disappear at any moment.

"Ning Yu, wake up, you can't sleep..." Mu Xue held his hand, her voice choked with sobs, her eyes filled with tears.

She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. Ning Yu's words came to mind: "No matter what happens, never give up hope, because..."

“Because, hope is…” Mu Xue’s mind suddenly went blank, and she couldn’t remember what she was going to say next.

“Ning Yu…” Mu Xue lowered her head and gently pressed her cheek against the back of his hand, feeling his faint body temperature.

A warm energy slowly flowed from her body, along their clasped hands, and gently flowed into Ning Yu's body...

Mu Xue slowly channeled her meager supernatural power into Ning Yu's body, like a drop of water falling on parched earth. She could feel her energy, like fine spider silk, cautiously probing into Ning Yu's meridians, attempting to awaken his dormant body. However, Ning Yu's body remained as cold as a rock, showing no reaction whatsoever.

As darkness fell, the setting sun painted the horizon a blood-red hue, as if foreshadowing something. The team members paced anxiously back and forth, knowing that the wilderness at night was far more dangerous than during the day, and the beasts lurking in the darkness would be even more unrestrained.

"Team Leader Mu, we need to find a place to hide." A team member walked up to Mu Xue and said in a heavy voice, "It's too dangerous at night. We can't just stay out here like this."
