Those crimson eyes slowly turned towards Mu Xue, gleaming with a bloodthirsty light. It let out a low growl, seemingly assessing its new prey.
Taking this opportunity, Ning Yu stepped aside, panting heavily, as waves of pain shot through the wound on his back.
He looked at Mu Xue, his eyes filled with worry.
Mu Xue smiled slightly at him, her eyes firm and resolute. She whispered, "Trust me." Then, she turned and ran towards the pre-set trap... "Wait!" Ning Yu wanted to stop her, but found himself powerless to catch up.
He could only watch helplessly as Mu Xue's figure disappeared into the thick fog, a sense of foreboding rising in his heart.
Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed from the depths of the thick fog...
After the loud noise, thick fog rolled in, and the creature indeed turned and pounced on Mu Xue.
Following her plan, Mu Xue lured it toward the trap. She moved nimbly through the thick fog, like a clever raccoon.
The creature was hot on her heels, its enormous footsteps shaking the ground.
Just as the creature was about to step into the trap, it suddenly stopped.
Its scarlet eyes scanned the area ahead warily, and its heavy breathing exhaled puffs of white mist.
It seemed to sense danger.
At the critical moment, Ning Yu made a move.
He endured the excruciating pain and, with his last ounce of strength, charged toward the creature.
Before the creature could react, he leaped high into the air and landed on its back.
"Now!" Ning Yu roared, stabbing the bone knife in his hand fiercely into the creature's eyes.
"Roar!" The creature let out a shrill scream and struggled frantically.
Its massive body shook violently, trying to throw Ning Yu off.
Ning Yu gripped the protruding bone spurs on the creature's back tightly, refusing to let go no matter how much it struggled.
Seeing that Ning Yu had successfully attracted the creature's attention, Mu Xue immediately took action.
She quickly rearranged the trap, reinforced the vines, and covered them with camouflage.
Driven by excruciating pain and terror, the creature lost its reason and ran frantically, unaware that it was gradually heading towards the abyss of death.
Finally, it lost its footing and fell into the trap that Mu Xue had set up again.
With a loud "boom," the trap was triggered, and thick vines instantly wrapped around the creature's limbs, trapping it firmly.
The creature struggled incessantly, yet sank deeper and deeper.
Ning Yu jumped off the creature's back, staggered a few steps, and barely managed to regain his balance. He looked at the trapped creature and let out a long sigh of relief.
"Let's go," Mu Xue said softly as she walked to Ning Yu's side.
The two continued towards the source of the wind. The wind grew stronger, howling from ahead, as if warning them that the road ahead was even more dangerous.
Ning Yu gazed at the billowing fog ahead, a sense of unease rising within him. He felt an inexplicable pressure, as if something was watching them.
“This wind…” Ning Yu murmured to himself, reaching out as if to grab something, but only grasping at thin air.
Mu Xue gripped the bone knife tightly, her eyes resolute. "Let's go. Whatever lies ahead, we must face it."
They continued onward and disappeared into the thick fog.
Ahead, the wind grew stronger, and faintly, it seemed to be mixed with some strange sound... "Wait."
Ning Yu suddenly grabbed Mu Xue, his eyes warily fixed on a dark figure deep in the fog ahead.
