Chapter 268 The Journey Continues Amidst Perils, the Path Unfathomable

The wind seemed to have gone mad, carrying fine sand that cut at Ning Yu and Mu Xue's exposed skin like countless tiny blades.

Visibility plummeted, thick fog rolled in, obscuring the sky and the sun, making it almost impossible for them to see the road ahead.

A stinging sensation came from the corner of his eye, and Ning Yu subconsciously squinted, raising his hand to try to block the ever-present sandstorm.

"This can't go on." Ning Yu gritted her teeth, her voice ripped apart by the wind.

He mobilized the remaining supernatural power within him, attempting to construct a barrier in front of him.

A pale blue light flickered in his palm, but it was like a candle in the wind, swaying uncertainly.

Finally, a thin energy barrier barely took shape, but it was as fragile as a spider web, trembling violently under the raging wind.

Mu Xue could barely open her eyes due to the wind and sand. She clung tightly to Ning Yu's clothes, feeling the warmth emanating from him, which helped her maintain her balance.

The wind howled sharply, like the wailing of ghosts and wolves, sending chills down one's spine.

Suddenly, a small tornado appeared out of nowhere not far from them, whipping up clouds of dust and sand, like a wildly dancing earth dragon, rapidly approaching them.

The spinning sand column emitted a teeth-grinding grinding sound, carrying a destructive force.

"Mu Xue, watch out!" Ning Yu shouted, pulling Mu Xue behind him.

The small tornado was extremely fast, and it reached them in the blink of an eye.

Ning Yu tried his best to maintain the crumbling energy barrier, but felt that it would be torn apart at any moment.

"Get out of the way!" Ning Yu roared.

He pulled Mu Xue toward a huge rock nearby, trying to escape the tornado's attack.

Closer, even closer!

The boulder was right in front of us, like a glimmer of hope.

However, just as they were about to reach the boulder...

"Wait!" Ning Yu suddenly felt as if he had stepped into thin air, and a sense of weightlessness washed over him...

Ning Yu pulled Mu Xue along and rushed towards the boulder with all her might.

The nearby boulder seemed like the only harbor in the storm, a glimmer of hope for survival.

However, just as they were about to reach the back of the boulder and thought they were safe, their feet suddenly slipped.

"Ah!" Mu Xue cried out in surprise as her body fell uncontrollably downwards.

Ning Yu reacted quickly, grabbing Mu Xue's waist to try and steady herself.

However, due to the great inertia, the two still fell heavily into a pit hidden behind a boulder.

"Are you alright?" Ning Yu asked anxiously, ignoring the pain in his body.

"Hiss..." Mu Xue gritted her teeth, her face pale, "My leg..."

Ning Yu then noticed that Mu Xue's leg had been cut by the rubble at the bottom of the pit, and blood was gushing out, staining her trouser leg red.

His heart tightened, and he quickly checked his injuries.

The wound was so deep that you could almost see the bare bone.

"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath.

In such an environment, without medical supplies, he could only tear off a corner of his clothes and roughly bandage Mu Xue's wound.

"Bear with it." Ning Yu's voice was low, with a slight, almost imperceptible tremor.

Mu Xue bit her lip and didn't say anything, large beads of sweat rolling down her forehead.

Just then, the sandstorm intensified, and tiny grains of sand pelted them like bullets, making a crackling sound.

The sand around the small pit kept slipping away, seemingly in danger of being buried at any moment.

"This can't go on." Ning Yu looked up at the small pit that was gradually being filled with sand, his expression grave.

He took a deep breath, slowly closed his eyes, and felt his supernatural abilities gradually returning to his body.

A pale blue light emanated from him, standing out brightly against the dim light of the pit.

"Ning Yu..." Mu Xue seemed to sense something and called out weakly.

"Trust me." Ning Yu gripped Mu Xue's hand tightly, his eyes resolute. "I will definitely take you out of here..."

He activated his supernatural power again, and a powerful energy wave spread out from the small pit... "Ugh..." Ning Yu groaned, his face turning deathly pale instantly.

His forehead veins bulged, and large beads of sweat dripped down his face.

The intense pain from overusing his powers nearly made him faint.

But he persevered through gritted teeth, because he knew it was their only hope...

“Ning Yu…” Mu Xue’s voice was full of worry.

She felt Ning Yu's hands trembling, and his breathing becoming more and more rapid... She reached out her other hand and gently stroked Ning Yu's cheek. "No..." Ning Yu gritted his teeth, and the azure light surged from his body again, more dazzling and more unstable than before.

He felt as if his brain was being pierced by countless steel needles, and the intense pain made his vision go black in waves.

But he couldn't fall down; Mu Xue was still waiting for him.

He wanted to create a larger space, a space strong enough to withstand the onslaught of wind and sand.

"Ning Yu! Stop! You'll die if you keep going like this!" Mu Xue's voice was hoarse and anxious. She watched as Ning Yu's face grew paler and paler, and his clothes were soaked with sweat.

Ignoring the excruciating pain in her legs, she struggled to stop him, but collapsed helplessly at the bottom of the pit.

Ning Yu groaned, and a trickle of blood escaped from the corner of his mouth.

He felt his body had reached its limit, but he continued to persevere.

The space gradually expanded, and the originally small pit gradually turned into a small cave.

"Cough cough..." Ning Yu coughed weakly, his body swaying as if he were about to collapse.

He felt his consciousness fading, but he held on until there was enough space for both of them.
