Chapter 93 Dawn Breaks

Chapter 93 Dawn Breaks

The sound of something cutting through the air brushed past Fan Xiaoxiao's ears, followed by several shrill screams from the bandits opposite her.

She opened her eyes and saw that the bandits opposite her were all riddled with arrows and lay lifeless on the ground. What... what happened?!

Fan Xiaoxiao subconsciously turned around and saw that inside the cave, Master Lu was carrying a crossbow in his hand and a large basket on his back as he walked out.

When he reached the edge of the cave, he glanced at the arrow on Fan Xiaoxiao's shoulder. Then, he rummaged around in the bamboo basket on his back for a while and pulled out a pair of rather strange-looking scissors.

"The arrow in your shoulder has a specially made arrowhead. To remove it, the entire piece of flesh would have to be dug out. Since you are unable to move easily now, I will first help you shorten the arrow shaft."

With that, he walked over, holding the scissors. Fan Xiaoxiao's face was pale, and she was trembling like a leaf.

Seeing her like this, Xiaoyu stepped forward and held her hand: "Bear with it, it'll be easier to take it out if it's cut shorter!"

Fan Xiaoxiao nodded and took a deep breath: "Master Lu! Come on!"

Even so, when the other person's scissors actually touched the arrow, Fan Xiaoxiao still trembled with pain, cold sweat pouring down her face like it was free. She gritted her teeth, her eyes fixed on the boulder, and suddenly asked in a trembling voice, "Master Lu, Ye... hiss, Madam Ye has been gone for so long, hiss! Aren't you worried that she won't come back!?"

Master Lu, who was trimming the arrow fletching, glanced at her and knew that the girl was trying to distract herself. Then, while trimming the fletching, he said, "If she really can't even do this much, then she doesn't need to ask me to shoot that thing for her."

The arrow shaft was difficult to break, so Master Lu tightened his grip. Fan Xiaoxiao gritted her teeth, her hands clenching tightly around the hem of her clothes, desperately trying to focus on what Master Lu was saying.

"Uh! What...is that?"

With a "snap," the arrow shaft finally broke in half. Master Lu, expressionless, reopened the scissors: "Something that can kill."

With another "snap," the arrow shaft was finally severed. Fan Xiaoxiao's body relaxed, and she slumped against the edge of the cave. She gasped for breath, "It hurts so much! Ouch! Master Lu, what if Lady Ye hadn't come back?! What would we have done?!"

Grandpa Lu put the scissors back into the basket, took out an arrow with a white cloth wrapped around its fletching, and chuckled when he heard Fan Xiaoxiao's question: "So what if it didn't come back? Didn't it come back?"

Fan Xiaoxiao was slightly taken aback. She looked up at the boulder and saw Ye Niangzi leading a man out from behind it.

"He's back..." Fan Xiaoxiao murmured almost to herself, and a weight was finally lifted from her heart. It was good that he was back; she had almost thought the blind man wouldn't come back.

She smiled and turned to Master Lu, about to say something more. But his actions stunned her. Master Lu nocked an arrow, raised his crossbow, took out a tinderbox from his pocket, and painstakingly lit the arrow wrapped in white cloth before aiming it at Lady Ye.

Fan Xiaoxiao was so frightened she almost jumped up from the ground: "Master Lu! What are you doing?! You can't..."

Before she could finish speaking, the arrow, still glowing with fire, shot out and flew straight toward Lady Ye.

"No!!!" Fan Xiaoxiao watched helplessly as the arrow drew closer and closer to Lady Ye. Then, the arrow grazed past Lady Ye and shot straight into the gap between the boulders behind her.

The arrow struck the boulder, igniting it almost instantly. A towering flame shot into the sky, accompanied by the screams of many bandits.

Master Lu glanced at Fan Xiaoxiao, who was standing there in a daze, frowned, and asked with some confusion, "What are you yelling about?"

Fan Xiaoxiao naturally wouldn't admit that she thought the other party had just tried to betray her and kill Ye Niangzi. She chuckled dryly, "Hehe, no, nothing."

At this moment, Madam Ye had already walked up to the group. She let go of his hand, and with two "thumps," Master Lu's attention was successfully drawn to her.

"This is……"

"The sounds of these two running are too similar to distinguish them, so I brought them both out. Take a look and see which one it is." Madam Ye took two steps back, revealing the two people lying on the ground behind her.

Fan Xiaoxiao struggled to her feet and walked closer to see that the two people on the ground were none other than Tu Ban, the chief of Huilong Village, and the man with the mole who had kicked Xiaobao!

"Grandpa! It's Tu Ban!" Xiao Yu exclaimed excitedly. She ran to a nearby spot, picked up the dagger that Fan Xiaoxiao had dropped, and was about to stab the bearded man on the left.

"Wait!" Master Lu stopped Xiaoyu's movements, a ruthless glint in his eyes.

"Killing him like this would be too easy on him!"

Xiaoyu wiped her eyes, her hoarse voice trembling with tears: "What can I do! Grandpa! I hate it so much! I hate it so much!"

Master Lu patted Xiaoyu's head and looked at Fan Xiaoxiao and Lady Ye standing to the side.

"Gentlemen, I would like to trouble you to do me another favor."

...

Half an hour later, the sky was already faintly turning light. Fan Xiaoxiao and Xiaoyu were struggling to push a makeshift cart, on which were Tu Ban and the man with the mole, who were tied up tightly. Meanwhile, Master Lu and Madam Ye were silently pulling the cart from the front.

"Xiaoyu, where are we going now?" Fan Xiaoxiao wiped the sweat from her face. After a night of fierce fighting, she felt pain all over her body. If she had known that Master Lu's help meant they had to push the cart, she should have just sat there and waited for them to come back!

Xiaoyu had a stern face, her eyes still a little red. Hearing Fan Xiaoxiao's question, she opened her mouth and coldly uttered three words.

"Go to the Blood Pool."

This was the second time Fan Xiaoxiao had heard this name. The old woman seemed to have mentioned it before. She frowned and then asked, "Blood Pool, what kind of place is that?"

After the question was asked, an eerie silence fell between them. Fan Xiaoxiao glanced at Xiaoyu beside her; the girl's head was lowered, and her expression was difficult to discern. Just as Fan Xiaoxiao was feeling uneasy, wondering if she had asked the wrong question, Xiaoyu spoke up: "It's the place where my father and mother died."

Fan Xiaoxiao's voice trailed off, and she scratched her face awkwardly, realizing she had stepped on a landmine.

"I'm...I'm so sorry..."

Xiaoyu didn't speak, and just as Fan Xiaoxiao hesitated whether to continue speaking, the cart stopped. Master Lu's voice came from the front: "We've arrived."
