Jiang Ersao walked over gracefully, "Uncle Li just came back from the city."
The elderly couple didn't like Jiang Ersao very much. Aunt Li tried to pull her husband away, but Jiang Ersao was like a clingy leech and followed the elderly couple.
"Uncle Li is going into town, could it be to find Gu An'an?"
Aunt Li's face immediately darkened. "What do you want to say?"
Jiang Ersao knew that the two of them had close contact with Gu An'an, but said, "It's nothing."
After saying those words, Jiang Ersao swayed gracefully away, leaving the elderly couple somewhat bewildered.
What's going on here?
Little did they know that Jiang Ersao was also having a bit of a headache.
These two are such troublemakers, always meddling in everything. If they start talking too much again, things will get complicated.
How can we get this couple out of here?
Jiang Ersao didn't have any good ideas for the time being.
As she was walking back, her son Xiaofei came over and reached out to Jiang Ersao for money.
Jiang Ersao was so angry that she slapped her son, "Won't all of your parents' money be yours in the future? What's your hurry!"
Jiang Xiaofei, however, had his own ulterior motives. "I've been keeping an eye on people for you. You said you'd pay me, otherwise I'll never run errands for you again."
What does it mean to run errands for her?
Wasn't I thinking of him?
Jiang Ersao was annoyed, but she still took out a few copper coins and gave them to her son, saying, "Go and keep an eye on things, and tell your mother if you hear anything later."
Jiang Xiaofei nodded. "Then you need to give me more money, Mom. This isn't enough."
Jiang Ersao: "...Who did you learn all this from? You're scheming against your parents."
“I learned it from you and Dad.” Jiang Xiaofei’s matter-of-fact statement stunned Jiang Ersao for a moment. By the time she realized what was happening, the brat had already disappeared.
Jiang Ersao was furious. Did she learn that from her?
What do you mean by "learned from her"? Is she really that calculating?
She returned home in a huff, leaving only Grandma Jiang in the old courtyard preparing lunch by picking vegetables.
"Are the three brothers still not awake?"
The Jiang brothers drank quite a bit last night and are still hungover.
Grandma Jiang glanced at it and asked, "Why aren't you home watching over things? What have you been doing?"
Ever since the eldest son ran away with his daughter, the family has become increasingly disorderly.
Jiang Ersao wasn't angry. She squatted down to help Jiang Laotai pick vegetables. "Mother, we agreed that Gu An'an was bought to help take care of the child, but there are many people in this village who talk a lot. What if someone tells Lao San something..."
"Let's see who dares!" Old Mrs. Jiang's eyebrows furrowed, revealing a fierce and menacing look.
Jiang Ersao spoke up, "That's why I'm worried. Mother, have you already spoken to the old clan chief?"
Grandma Jiang glanced at her and said, "Gu An'an is an outsider after all. Don't forget that this is Jiang Family Village, where everyone, young and old, shares the surname Jiang."
Jiang Ersao certainly understood this principle.
She was busy all morning, and it seems the old lady was busy too.
This relieved Jiang Ersao. "We have to call them back and explain things clearly."
Grandma Jiang stared at the vegetable leaves in her hand for a while before finally speaking, "Hmm, go and call them back tomorrow."
"Me?" Jiang Ersao didn't want to embarrass herself. Didn't she know what kind of personality Gu An'an had?
She couldn't get him back today, how is she going to get him back tomorrow?
“I’ve never gotten along with her, and I’m afraid I won’t be able to get her back.”
Grandma Jiang glanced at her daughter-in-law and said, "Just tell them that those children have the surname Jiang."
These words made Jiang Ersao suddenly realize, "Mother's idea is good, she really cares about those children."
I don't even know where this bastard came from. It's not even my own child, so why should I care?
It's really incomprehensible.
...
Gu An'an had been busy all day, and finally managed to coax the two children to sleep by telling them a story.
She sighed, looking at the sleeping brother and sister. If only they were both so young and naive.
Then they wouldn't know that there are so many difficulties in the world.
In the small courtyard, Jiang Mingzhu tiptoed to the front yard and saw someone reading late into the night in the study.
Seeing Jiang Mingzhu approach, Jiang Mingyi asked gently, "Why did you come here?"
"I think Mother has something on her mind." The girl did not hide the purpose of her visit, and as soon as she spoke, she saw the worry lingering between her brother's brows.
"Brother, Mother doesn't even recognize Father. What if Father tries to take us away by force?"
This matter has been troubling Jiang Mingzhu all day.
They are the children of Jiang Yong'an, and their surname is Jiang.
What should they do if the Jiang family really comes to take them away?
Do you remember what your father looks like?
The girl hesitated upon hearing this, "I don't remember."
It was almost four years ago when I last saw my father. Jiang Mingzhu was six years old then.
However, she didn't even get a clear look at her father's face. All she knew was that he came and went in a hurry, leaving Mingxu and Bao'er behind.
When was the last time? Six or seven years ago?
My childhood memories are much more hazy.
“I remember when I was very young, I lived in a courtyard and had a wet nurse to take care of me. Later, my father came and said he would take me away. Then I met you, brother.”
Jiang Mingyi has little recollection of his childhood.
His memories seemed to be sealed away; he didn't even know how he lived before he came to Jiangjia Village.
She vaguely remembered that the man had taken her to seek medical treatment, but nothing ever came of it.
"He is a good person."
Jiang Mingzhu didn't know how to answer. After a while, she heard her brother's voice again, "But he is not a qualified father, much less a good husband."
