Chapter 109 Investigate

Lin Wanwan quickly said, "I'm all packed, so please don't avoid me anymore."

Qian Qian chuckled and poked her forehead, "How come you're so troublesome during your pregnancy?"

Lin Wanwan stepped forward, hugged Qian Qian, and swayed her back and forth. "Grandma, did you miss me? Why did you scold me as soon as I arrived?"

Qian Qian patted her hand, "Stop shaking me, you're making me dizzy. Why are your hands so cold? You didn't wear enough clothes when you went out."

"I saw the sun was out, so I wore one less layer," Lin Wanwan sniffed, wondering if she had really caught a cold.

Qian Qian asked the aunt to bring a thick wool shawl and put it on Lin Wanwan. "Why are you running around dressed so lightly?"

Lin Wanwan said to her in a coquettish tone, "Grandma, I'm hungry from shopping. Is there anything to eat?"

Qian Qian poked her forehead. "Sit down for a while. How about I ask Auntie to steam some minced meat and egg custard for you?"

"Okay, I also want to eat roast duck, my brother bought it."

"How did you two end up together? Didn't you say you were making plans with your classmates?"

Gu Bei smiled and said, "I ran into her at the mall, and I dragged her home."

Song Lanzhi was on the phone, telling the housekeeper to have Uncle Li pick up Lu Feng and bring him over for dinner when she saw him return.

"Grandpa, I've been practicing my spoken English these past few days. When can I talk to my senior classmates again? I promise I won't run away!"

"Hahahaha, that depends on whether your senior brother is free."

Lin Wanwan immediately sat down next to him and begged, "Please ask him, Senior Brother Cheng said he would give me a book to read last time, but he hasn't given it to me yet, and school is about to start."

Xu Zhe was at a loss with her. "I'll ask, but your senior brother Cheng is the most ruthless. Be prepared."

Lin Wanwan didn't know whether Cheng Jinyan was truly heartless; she only knew that he had promised to come after get off work.

"It seems he really wants to teach you. Before, Ziju asked him to help teach her younger sister, but Jinyan refused without even thinking about it."

Lin Wanwan looked at him ingratiatingly, "It's all because of Grandpa. Without Grandpa, he definitely wouldn't talk to me."

"Stop pretending, study hard. Jin Yan is a real talent, not just an empty shell."

Lin Wanwan nodded obediently. Qian Qian came over and called her to eat something, and Lin Wanwan followed obediently.

Gu Bei was still worried about the two people he had met that afternoon. "Where did Lu Feng go? Why hasn't he come over yet?"

"I don't know, Bai Ying. Didn't he say anything when he left?"

Bai Ying shook her head. "No, Wanwan doesn't know either. It seems she didn't say anything."

It was almost seven o'clock when Lu Feng and Cheng Jinyan went inside together.

"How did you two end up together?" Xu Zhe turned to ask them.

"I ran into Lu Feng at the door when he came in and greeted him. "I'm here to freeload again."

Qian Qian was overjoyed to see so many people in her family. "I'm happier when there are more people in my family."

Lin Wanwan squeezed through the crowd and asked ingratiatingly, "Senior brother, is what you're holding for me?"

Cheng Jinyan chuckled at her words. "Yes, I brought you the books and documents."

Lin Wanwan was about to reach out to take it when Lu Feng took it from her, saying, "Give it to me, it's so heavy."

Cheng Jinyan glanced at Lu Feng, said nothing, and handed him the things in his hand.

"The teacher said you want to challenge me?"

"Nonsense, my grandfather never said that. I was listening in when he made the call."

Cheng Jinyan smiled to himself, feeling that if he could tease her every day, his mood would be much better. Thinking about the unpleasant things in the office, Cheng Jinyan couldn't smile. It seemed that he had to find a way to seduce this junior sister to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Lu Feng was about to go find Lin Wanwan when Gu Bei pulled him aside to talk.

After hearing Gu Bei's words, Lu Fengye frowned, "That man was wearing glasses? Was he tall and thin?"

"You know him too?" Gu Bei asked him curiously.

"I also?"

“When I told Wanmei, he asked me the same question, and also asked me if the man looked gloomy.”

"I know her. She's Wanwan's childhood friend. She's not a good person. The same goes for Yin Meiyue."

"That girl's name is Yin Meiyue? Do you want me to help you look her up?"

"Okay, I'll check it out too. Thanks for your help."

“What trouble? She’s my sister too. She ran away with Bai Ying today. What if those two do something bad? You should stay with her from now on. She’s a bit mischievous, but she knows her limits. What if something happened today?”

Lu Feng nodded, "I understand. I had some things to take care of today. My older brother is probably coming back soon, and I had to deal with something. I didn't have time to tell you."

Gu Bei nodded and prepared to leave, but Lu Feng stopped him, asking, "What's the background of that Cheng Jinyan?"

Gu Bei glanced at him and then at Cheng Jinyan, who was chatting happily with Lin Wanwan on the sofa, speaking German in a low voice.

She glanced at him, suppressing a laugh, and said, "This Cheng Jinyan, I'm not very familiar with him, but my grandparents both like him a lot. His family is quite well-off; his grandparents were both involved in the revolution, and his parents are researchers. They said they were on a business trip recently, studying abroad. What's wrong?"

Gu Bei asked the question knowingly, with an expression of watching the show.

Lu Feng ignored him and walked directly towards Lin Wanwan.

He sat down next to Lin Wanwan and put his arm around her shoulder. Lin Wanwan didn't react much, but had a look of eager curiosity on her face.

Cheng Jinyan glanced at Lu Feng, while Lin Wanwan spoke to him bluntly in German, telling him to be serious and not to be distracted.

Cheng Jinyan couldn't help but laugh, then lowered his head and raised his hand in surrender, quickly apologizing to her.

Lu Feng's face darkened further, while Gu Bei sat opposite him with a look of schadenfreude. He could understand a little bit of German, and Lin Wanwan and Cheng Jinyan were having a purely academic exchange, not wanting to say a single unnecessary word.
