Chapter 2 Meeting Lu Feng in person

Lu Feng lowered his head and chuckled softly. Perhaps it was the protagonist's halo, but Lin Wanwan found even his laughter pleasant to hear. "You're quite honest. Then let me tell you about myself?"

Lin Wanwan nodded, signaling him to continue. "Actually, I don't agree to get married either, but there's only my mother and child at home. I've hired an aunt to take care of them, and I'm really worried about it. I agreed to get engaged to you because of Aunt He. No matter how stupid you were before, I feel at ease with Aunt He around." Without giving Lin Wanwan a chance to speak, Lu Feng continued, "However, I don't think you're acting that way."

Lin Wanwan spoke frankly, "I was indeed incredibly foolish before, and you weren't wrong, but I'm different now. I truly mean it when I say I want to get married right away. I will take good care of your son and your mother. I genuinely want to marry you. I know we haven't had much time together, but I still want to give it a try. Do you have any other opinions?"

Lu Feng was surprised by what she said. "How do I know you're sincere? The child is so young," Lu Feng said, expressing his doubt about her words.

Lin Wanwan looked at him like he was an idiot. "Lu Feng, do you think your mother is stupid, and the nanny you hired is stupid too? Is it so hard to tell whether I'm good to the child or not?"

Lu Feng wasn't angry at his words, but just looked at her. Lin Wanwan spoke again, "This isn't the 1960s anymore, where everything was done by letter. You can get an internet connection at home. If you're worried, you can call home every day. Besides, your mother isn't home. She's just unwell, not immobile. If I dared to do anything, not only your mother, but my mother could beat me to death. Furthermore, if I didn't want to marry you, even if I made a scene now, your family wouldn't let me in for the sake of their reputation. Why should I marry into your family and cause trouble? But there's something I want to make clear: my desire to marry you is genuine, so I hope you'll consider it carefully."

Lu Feng nodded. "I will."

Lin Rui wasn't going to let him off so easily, and continued, "You're leaving next Wednesday?"

Lu Feng nodded. "Yes, I'll go back to the unit on Wednesday." Lin Rui stared at him seriously. "If you plan to marry me, I hope you can fulfill your responsibilities as a husband. If one day you really find a girl you like, I hope you can be honest with me and we can get a peaceful divorce."

Lu Feng truly couldn't understand her this time. He stared at her for a long while, as if trying to discern something from her face. "Can you tell me why you suddenly want to get married? You said you would be honest and fair. I remember you had someone you really liked, Li Jun from the next alley. Haven't you always liked him?"

Lin Wanwan smiled and lowered her head, "I thought you wouldn't ask. Of course you know he's not a good match. I was naive before, but I understand now. A petty person isn't scary, what's scary is a hypocrite. And he just happens to be a hypocrite. Since you asked, you must have investigated."

Lu Feng had indeed investigated Li Jun and found him to be a hypocrite. On the surface, he appeared humble, polite, and refined, but in reality, he was petty, treacherous, and allowed others to do all the bad things while he received all the praise and good deeds.

"Now that we know he's a hypocrite, why couldn't we see it before? Now we suddenly see it clearly."

"Didn't you make mistakes when you were a child? If you did make mistakes, wouldn't you correct them? Why are you questioning this?" Lin Wanwan was speechless. As expected of the male lead.

"Since you've asked, let me tell you about you and Miss Yin Meiyue. Now that we're married, I naturally need to know about your situation."

"I have no relation to her. We only knew each other when we were kids. I didn't see her even during my ten years in the army," Lu Feng said nonchalantly.

Lin Wanwan looked at him, somewhat disbelieving. "Are you sure it's okay? That Miss Yin claims to be your girlfriend outside. After news of our engagement spread, she caused me trouble four times. Once, she even slapped me. If it's really okay, please handle this properly. I don't want to have to face your suitors after we're married. Of course, if you really like Miss Yin, I can step aside, but please don't marry me while being with another woman. I can't accept that."

Lu Feng noticed that she was really different and became curious about what had happened to her.

Lu Feng was certain this was indeed Lin Wanwan, and she hadn't been replaced. "How about we get married? Would you like to consider it?"

Lin Wanwan was actually very nervous; she really wanted to get close to Lu Feng.

If there's really no other way, we'll have to find another path. "Do you want to think about it?" Lu Feng asked her in return.

Lin Wanwan hesitated for a moment and said, "I've thought it over. If you're serious about marrying me, then I will marry you, cultivate our relationship, and take care of your child and mother. But let me make this clear first: I will raise the child well, but it's not just my responsibility. I will also try my best to take care of your mother, but you should also know that it's not my responsibility either."

"I need to think about it for one night. I'll come to you tomorrow morning to tell you my decision. Is that okay?" Lu Feng said cautiously. He really needed to think it over carefully, or investigate why Lin Wanwan suddenly seemed like a different person.

After Lu Feng left, He Yumei immediately exclaimed, "What can I say? I discussed marriage with him. I told him I didn't want an engagement, I wanted to get married directly, and I asked him to get rid of Yin Meiyue. I said I didn't want to face his suitors after marriage. That's all I said." Lin Wanwan told the truth.

"What did Lu Feng say? Did he agree?" He Yumei was afraid that her daughter would ruin things, otherwise all the effort she had put into paving the way for her would be in vain.

Lin Wanwan collapsed weakly onto the sofa. "He said he needs to think about it for one night and will come to see me again tomorrow."
