Chapter 302

"Auntie believes in you. When is your mother coming back? I'd like to talk to her."

Li Qingran immediately looked at her nervously, "Auntie, is there something you need?"

Lin Wanwan almost laughed when she saw her expression. "It's okay, talk to your mother and see if you can help her find an easy job."

Li Qingran breathed a sigh of relief, and after thinking for a moment, she still asked.

"Auntie, why are you helping me?"

Do you need a reason to help someone?

Li Qingran was about to say something when Lu Ming interrupted her.

“My mom has a foundation, one of the projects of which is to help students who want to go to school but do not have the means.”

Lu Ming's voice was filled with hostility.

Li Qingran felt awkward for a moment and looked apologetically at Lin Wanwan.

"I'm sorry, Auntie, I didn't mean anything by it. It's just that Zhou Yang's family has come over a few times recently and said some very unpleasant things to my mother. I'm afraid..."

Lin Wanwan smiled and said, "It's okay. Next time they come, just tell them that I've already transferred you to another school. Don't worry."

Li Qingran glanced at her, then at the docile Lu Ming beside her, and nodded.

"Auntie, my mom won't be back until six o'clock."

Lin Wanwan smiled nonchalantly, "I happen to be free today, so it's okay to wait a bit. This is a gift I brought for you, it's nothing expensive, so you don't have to refuse."

Li Qingran's words were cut off.

"You two go study, don't stay here with me. Qingran, just find me any book."

Li Qingran nodded, stood up, and went back to her room to find a book.

Lin Wanwan turned her head to look at Lu Ming and whispered, "Why are you being so fierce? She's a girl, you're scaring her."

Lu Ming looked displeased. "She's making malicious assumptions about you."

"It's okay, my life won't change because of her speculation."

Lu Ming understood the reasoning, but he still felt uncomfortable.

Lin Wanwan patted him, "Don't be angry."

A short while later, Li Qingran found a book.

"Auntie, I don't have many extracurricular books. This one was a gift from a friend. Would you like to read it?"

Lin Wanwan smiled and took the book; it was an original English version of "Pride and Prejudice".

"Okay, I'll look at this. You go back to your room and study. Don't worry about me, I'll just read for a while."

Li Qingran nodded and went back to her room, glancing back at Lin Wanwan sitting on the sofa at the bedroom door.

I always felt that she was out of place with my old sofa. Although Lin Wanwan was dressed casually, her clothes were not made of expensive fabrics, her hair was tied back with a simple wooden hairpin, she wore light makeup, and she smiled faintly as she turned her head to talk to Lu Ming.

As Li Qingran closed the door, he saw her look up and smile at him.

She thought that Lu Ming must be happy, and that it had nothing to do with money.

Li Qingran leaned back in her chair, stunned for a long while.

Tidy up the books on the desk and take them to the small table outside for dining.

"Auntie, just tell me if you want some water, and I'll get you some."

"It's alright, you can read your book, no need to bother me."

Li Qingran nodded, calmed herself down, and buried herself in reading and doing exercises.

Zou Cui was worried about leaving her second daughter at home alone, so she took leave in advance to come back.

When I opened the door, I saw a strange woman and a teenage boy sitting on the sofa reading a book.

Frowning, she snapped, "Why are you here again? It's a different person every day. I'm tired of it, even if you're not! We may be poor, but we still have some backbone. My daughter did nothing wrong, she won't apologize, please leave my house!!!"

Li Qingran immediately grabbed her, "Mom, Mom, they're not Zhou Yang's family. This is Lu Ming and Lu Ming's mother, the classmate who helped me before."

Zou Cui immediately turned off the engine and looked apologetically at Lin Wanwan, "I'm sorry, I thought it was the Zhou family again, I didn't understand the situation, I'm sorry."

Lin Wanwan smiled and said, "It's nothing. We just came over without telling you and we're sorry to bother you."

Zou Cui immediately went over and poured her another glass of water. "Please sit down. Don't stand and talk. We don't have any good tea at home."

"This tea is quite delicious. Please have a seat, no need to offer me any special service."

Zou Cui sat on the other chair. "I have to thank Lu for what happened before. Qingran told me everything when she got home. I'm so grateful."

He was about to stand up as he spoke.

Lin Wanwan grabbed her and said, "What are you thanking me for? They are classmates, it is only right for them to help each other. If Lu Ming watched his classmates being bullied, that would be the one who is ill-mannered."

Zou Cui quickly said, "No matter what, we should thank Lu for this."

Lu Ming waved his hand, "Auntie, don't say that. Li Qingran is very capable. I'm her classmate, and I won't just stand by and watch her get bullied."

Lin Wanwan turned to Lu Ming and said, "Take Qingran to buy some study materials. Drive there, it's too hot, drive slowly."

Li Qingran immediately waved her hand, "No need, Auntie."

"Go ahead, I need to talk to your mother about something."

Li Qingran glanced at Zou Cui, and seeing her nod, she followed Lu Ming out the door.
