Chapter 7 Meeting Lu's Mother

“Since you in-laws have put it this way, let’s talk about some specific details of the wedding,” Song Lanzhi said.

Lu Feng stood up and said to the elders, "Wanwan and I are going out for a walk." Lin Wanwan heard him and stood up as well.

He Yumei nodded hurriedly, "Go and have fun, but don't go too far, or you won't be able to find us later."

Lu Feng nodded to indicate that he understood, and Lin Wanwan followed him out.

“These things were decided in a bit of a rush, they were all decided last night, I didn’t have time to tell you. If you have any questions, you can tell me,” Lu Feng said, turning his head to look at her.

Lin Wanwan also looked up at him, "It's okay, your arrangement is good. But there's something I need to discuss with you. The college entrance examination will probably be reinstated. I will take the exam. I may not pass, but I want to try. I might go back to Beijing then."

Lu Feng stared at her, as if trying to read something from her face. "Of course you can. I said you can stay in the army with me or go back to Beijing, it's up to you." Lu Feng paused and then said, "You look very beautiful today."

Lin Wanwan chuckled, "Thank you, you look very handsome too." She pointed to his watch and asked, "What time is it? I'd like to go to the bookstore."

Lu Feng glanced at his watch. "It's not even 10:30 yet. I'll take you there. I drove here."

Lin Wanwan looked at him in surprise, "Your family owns a car?"

Seeing her surprise, Lu Feng said, "You didn't know? Aunt He knows, didn't she say so?"

"No, my mom doesn't like to gossip at home," Lin Wanwan shook her head.

Lin Wanwan then looked up at him with a smile and said, "Big boss, it seems I'm really not good enough for you. Please take good care of me in the future."

Seeing her smiling happily, Lu Feng's lips also unconsciously turned up.

Lin Wanwan seems to be really different now, even more different from what's being said outside, and that seems to be a good thing.

The two went out together. As soon as Lin Wanwan stepped out, she saw a large crowd gathered at her door. Startled, she immediately took two steps back.

Seeing that she was wearing high heels, Lu Feng was afraid she would fall, so he immediately reached out to support her waist, saying, "Be careful, don't fall."

Just as Lin Wanwan was about to say something, an older woman squeezed out.

"Oh, it really is Wanwan! I almost didn't recognize her from this distance. You look so beautiful today. Where are you going?" Aunt He said to Lin Wanwan while her eyes kept glancing at Lu Feng.

"Aunt He, I'm going out to buy some things. What are you all doing gathered here?" Lin Wanwan asked, pretending not to see her gaze.

"He didn't do anything. This car belongs to this young man, right? Is this young man a relative of yours?"

Before Lin Wanwan could answer, she immediately stepped forward and pulled Lu Feng aside, saying, "Young man, do you have a girlfriend? My daughter is very pretty."

Lu Feng stepped aside to avoid her hand, put one arm around Lin Wanwan's shoulder, and said in a distant and indifferent tone, "Excuse me, I am Wanwan's fiancé, and we are getting married soon."

After Lu Feng finished speaking, he ignored her, put his arm around Lin Wanwan, walked to the car, opened the door, and gestured for Lin Wanwan to get in.

Seeing Lu Feng get into the driver's seat, Lin Wanwan chuckled, "Did you figure it out?"

Lu Feng turned his head to look at her, and after a long while, he finally spoke, "When my mother and I came, we brought some things with us. We saw her as soon as we got off the car. She even greeted my mother. My mother said that we came to propose marriage. She just said that on purpose."

Lin Wanwan couldn't help but laugh out loud, "Hahaha, this Aunt He loves to talk bad about me the most. Most of the rumors about me that are circulating outside come from her mouth."

"Aren't you angry?" Lu Feng asked her.

Lin Wanwan said nonchalantly, "What does it matter whether I care or not? If she dragged you aside tomorrow and said a bunch of bad things about me, would you believe her? Would she even cancel our engagement?"

Lu Feng thought for a moment, "Of course not. At most, they would ask you, which means they trust you."

“Yes, you see, people with a heart won’t believe what others say, and people without a heart won’t believe what others say or what I explain. So no matter how angry I am, I can’t get over it,” Lin Wanwan said, then looked out of the car. Now that private enterprises have been restored and individual business is encouraged, there are many more street vendors.
