Chapter 79 Could it be human traffickers? 2

Zhang Jing nodded quickly, "Battalion Commander Lu, I'll leave the child here for now. I'll go to the carriage and ask if there's a doctor there."

Lu Feng didn't nod, and Zhang Jing looked at Lin Wanwan with some embarrassment.

Lin Wanwan took the child. "Give it to me. You can leave one of you here, otherwise you might bother me again if something comes up."

Zhang Jing nodded quickly, leaving one train police officer behind, and left with the others.

Lin Wanwan took a handkerchief and used white wine to wipe the child's body.

“The child seems a bit off; it would be better if your grandmother were here.”

Lin Wanwan checked the child's breathing. "The breathing is too weak. We need to have a doctor come and see him."

"Let me check, just in case something really happens," Xu Zhang said, pressing his ear to the child's chest to listen.

"His breathing is too weak. We are all laymen and don't know anything. You should wipe his body first and try to cool him down."

Lin Wanwan nodded, her hands constantly wiping the child's body with a handkerchief soaked in liquor.

A short while later, Zhang Jing brought a refined-looking man. Zhang Jing made a public announcement in the car, saying that he had met the man on the way back and that he was a doctor.

The man looked to be in his thirties, with a refined and scholarly air, like a university professor.

The man walked over, first looked at the child, took his pulse, listened to his heartbeat, and finally felt the child's temperature with his hand.

"He has a high fever and seizures, and someone has given him sleeping pills. He's in great danger and must be taken to the nearest hospital," she said, turning the child's head to one side.

"Now we have to be careful that he doesn't choke on the foam at the mouth."

Lin Wanwan was startled. "Is there any way to provide first aid now?"

"No, the child needs an injection. It's very dangerous now, we must take the child to the hospital as soon as possible."

Upon hearing this, Zhang Jing immediately went out to make contact, found the nearest station to take the child off the train, and also notified the child's parents to come over.

After finishing all that, Lin Wanwan was still wiping the child's body when Zhang Jing stepped forward to introduce them, "Battalion Commander Lu, this doctor's surname is Zhang, and this is his wife."

Lu Feng shook hands with him generously, "Hello, my name is Lu Feng, and this is my wife, Lin Wanwan."

“My name is Qin Ming, and I am a doctor in Beijing. Your wife’s physical cooling treatment was very timely.”

Zhang Jing interjected promptly, "Gentlemen, could you please get off the bus with us in a moment to take the child to the hospital and also serve as witnesses?"

Lin Wanwan looked at Lu Feng, then at Gu Changfeng and said, "Okay, then godfather and godmother will have to go first. We'll take the child to the hospital and then take the next bus over."

Gu Changfeng nodded, "The child is important, you guys go ahead."

A few minutes after Lu Feng and his group took the child to the hospital, the child's parents arrived. They had originally brought the child back to Beijing to visit relatives. The child wasn't stolen; he was directly snatched.

Zhang Jing told them that it was Lin Wanwan who realized the couple were human traffickers.

The couple quickly thanked him. They looked very young, about the same age as Lu Feng.

After thanking Lu Feng and his wife, they went to thank Qin Ming, expressing their deepest gratitude.

The child was eventually saved and was not seriously injured, but he had a fever for too long and developed pneumonia, requiring hospitalization.

Seeing that everything was alright, Lu Feng and his companions took their luggage and headed to the station to catch the next train.

Zhang Jing checked the time. "The next trip won't be until tonight. Let me take you to eat first."

Seeing their hesitation, Zhang Jing continued, "I'm free right now, I'll have to wait for the next train to go to Gansu with you."

Lu Feng and Qin Ming then nodded in agreement.

He put his arm around Lin Wanwan's shoulder and asked, "Are you tired? You didn't sleep well last night. Do you want to take a nap? I'll go to the guesthouse and get you a room so you can get some sleep?"

Zhang Jing also asked, "Is your sister-in-law tired? Let's eat something and then go rest for a bit. We haven't slept at all last night."

Seeing that they all looked exhausted, Lin Wanwan nodded in agreement.

The group stayed up all night, and it's only 10 a.m. now. The next bus won't arrive until after 9 p.m.

Instead of going to the breakfast shop, the group went straight to a stir-fry restaurant.

After ordering the food, Zhang Jing smiled and said, "It's fate that we met. Battalion Commander Lu is from Beijing, right?"

"Just call me Lu Feng."

Zhang Jing nodded. "Lu Feng, you and your sister-in-law are both from Beijing, right?"

Lu Feng nodded, "Yes, we're both from Beijing."

Qin Ming smiled and introduced himself, "I'm not a native of Beijing. My family is from out of town. I've been working in Beijing for many years, so I'd say I'm half a Beijinger."

“I’m also from Beijing. How about we get together in Beijing sometime?” Zhang Jing asked the shopkeeper for paper and pen.

The three exchanged addresses. Zhang Jing smiled as soon as he got the address and looked at Lu Feng, saying, "Our two families live not far apart. We've never met before."

Lu Feng smiled and said, "Our family has only been back in the capital for a short time."

Zhang Jing and Qin Ming nodded, their understanding unspoken.

After the four of them had eaten and drunk their fill, they went to a guesthouse near the station and booked two rooms to rest.

Lin Wanwan didn't sleep all night, and fell asleep as soon as she touched the bed.

When Lu Feng woke me up, it was almost six o'clock.

Lu Feng got up, and the four of them agreed to have dinner together before returning to get their luggage and then traveling together to Gansu Province.

The three of them didn't have a pleasant conversation along the way. Lin Wanwan occasionally chimed in, but spent the rest of the time listening to their chatter.

We talked about everything under the sun, from childhood anecdotes to work-related stories, and the more we talked, the more we clicked.

When they got off the bus, the three of them agreed to get together again when Lu Feng returned to Beijing to attend university.

Gu Changfeng sent someone to pick them up at the station. On the train, Lin Wanwan asked him, "Did you have a good chat?"

"Well, I don't have many friends. The ones I grew up with were mostly gone when my family suffered a disaster. Now that my family is doing well again, they're all trying to curry favor with me. Next time I go back to Beijing, I'll introduce you to my friends."
