Chapter 85 Practice Draft

“Her father and I were comrades-in-arms. He called me today specifically to say that there was a misunderstanding between you two.”

"Misunderstanding? That sounds too nice," Li Wanwan told them what had happened that day.

"She said it was a misunderstanding, but it was actually her own doing. Now she still has the nerve to go home and cry. Just as Station Chief Qian said, she and her father are good-for-nothings."

"Don't talk nonsense," Gu Changfeng deliberately scolded him with a stern face.

Lin Wanwan quickly shut up, "I won't say it again."

"Just do what you need to do, and don't worry about anything else."

"I'm not afraid. Others may not be able to afford to offend her, but I'm not. I'll let my abilities speak for themselves. If she's really capable, I'll naturally support her. But she's like a good-for-nothing. Does she expect me to fawn over her?"

"Hahahaha, Director Lin is right," Gu Changfeng joked.

"Thank you for the compliment, Commander Gu. I will continue to work hard in the future. Does Dean Xu have any instructions?"

Xu Zhang laughed and patted her head. "Dean Xu's instructions are to not let anyone bully you, and if you're unhappy, don't do it."

“A doting mother spoils her son; how could you teach her like that?”

“How am I supposed to teach her? You kept nagging me last night, saying you were worried she'd be bullied.”

"I didn't say that," Gu Changfeng said, a little embarrassed, as he touched his nose.

After finishing her meal, Lin Wanwan checked the time and decided it was almost time to go to her office to prepare for the evening's broadcast.

As Lu Feng and Lin Wanwan stepped outside, they noticed the office lights were still on.

Pushing open the door, I saw Bai Ying and another girl, whose name Lin Wanwan couldn't recall, writing something at the table.

"Bai Ying? Haven't you gone back yet?"

Bai Ying stood up to greet her when she saw her, "Director Lin, you've arrived?"

Pointing to another girl, he said, "This is Li Changru. We're writing a manuscript and want to take this opportunity to practice."

Lin Wanwan nodded. "Everything's fine. Have you eaten? Didn't you go back?"

"We've all eaten before coming back."

Lin Wanwan nodded, "You guys write it down, and I'll show it to you in a bit."

Bai Ying nodded excitedly, "Okay, thank you, Director Lin."

Seeing that it was almost time, Lin Wanwan packed her things and went to the broadcasting room. "Are you coming with me?"

"Can I go?"

"You can go to the outer room, but you can't go to the inner room."

"Let's go then," Lu Feng said, leading her outside.

Watching the two walk away, Li Changru said enviously, "Commander Lu and Director Lin have such a good relationship."

"A perfect match, Director Lin is beautiful too, she and Battalion Commander Lu are a perfect couple."

Li Changru remained calm upon hearing this, and said, "Hurry up and write it."

Bai Ying didn't notice the odd tone in her voice and happily continued writing.

"Director Lin is so kind. He'll help us proofread the draft later. Let's hurry up and write."

"Okay, hurry up and write it."

After Lin Wanwan finished broadcasting, she checked the time. It was exactly two hours. She nodded in satisfaction and turned to Lu Feng, saying, "The timing was perfect, just right."

Lu Feng patted her head and said, "You're amazing, even more amazing than I imagined."

Lin Wanwan smiled broadly, like a puppy being praised.

"Let's go, we still need to help them review their manuscripts. Let's go home early after we're done."

He led Lin Wanwan back to his office, picked up the book from Lin Wanwan's desk, and sat down to read it himself.

"Have you finished writing it? If you have, I'll check it for you. If you haven't, I'm leaving."

"It's finished, it's finished!" Bai Ying rushed over with the manuscript.

"Sit down, don't stand."

Lin Wanwan glanced at the manuscript and asked, "Which newspaper is this about? Let me see it."

Bai Ying hurriedly went to get the newspaper, and Lin Wanwan quickly glanced at it before continuing to read the manuscript.

He picked up his pen and kept writing and revising, and soon handed the revised manuscript to Bai Ying.

“I think you’re too impatient. You should read more of my drafts. I’m not telling you to imitate them. Everyone has their own way of thinking when writing. What you need to learn is not to imitate my style, but to think and summarize for yourself and develop your own writing approach.”

Lin Wanwan paused, afraid that if she spoke too harshly, Bai Ying might not be able to handle it.

“Look at the script you wrote today. On the surface, it’s very well written, and it covers every key point, but it also seems like it doesn’t quite cover anything. Also, when we’re broadcasting news or newspaper content, we should try not to add our own subjective opinions. Some topics are very sensitive, and we can easily run into trouble if we’re not careful.”

Although this era has become much more open, some topics remain sensitive and are not for ordinary people to touch.

Lin Wanwan didn't want them to cause any more trouble and get arrested because of these sensitive topics.

Bai Ying blushed slightly. "I understand, Director Lin. I will change in the future."

"Don't misunderstand, I didn't mean anything against you. I just hope you can improve. You can practice more on your own when you have time, and you can show me your drafts anytime."

"I understand, Director Lin. I will try my best."

Li Changru sat down with the manuscript in her hand and said softly, "Director Lin, we are not like you, with talent and ability. We may not be able to accept your high expectations of us."

Lin Wanwan put down her newspaper and stared at her without saying a word, making Li Changru feel uneasy under her gaze.

"Director Lin, I didn't mean anything by it. I just feel that we are not as talented as you, nor do we have such good conditions to be exposed to these things from a young age. We are just starting to learn, and it is impossible for us to be as good as you so quickly."

"I don't know why you're talking to me so sarcastically, but I only came into contact with this when I entered the broadcasting room after joining the army."

"I owe a lot to Station Master Qian's guidance in writing radio scripts. Before I came, Station Master Qian was the one teaching you. Why didn't you learn as well as I did? Shouldn't you reflect on yourselves and see if you didn't work hard enough and were just trying to get by?"

"If I have to say what my unique advantage is, it's that I work harder and am smarter than you. If Station Master Qian gives me a pointer, I can apply it to other situations on my own, instead of being like you guys who can't even write one article a day."

"You were all selected to join the broadcasting room, so you must all be educated. If I had to say what my advantage is, it would be that I might have read more books than you. Knowledge accumulation is not something that can be achieved in a day or two. I am not very talented, but I have been doing this since I was a child."

Li Changru looked like she was about to cry. "Director, that's not what I meant. I just hope you can give us more time. It's not that we don't want to learn, it's just that we don't have your talent."

Lin Wanwan couldn't help but laugh out loud. "To be honest, I really have no interest in scheming against you. I love broadcasting and writing. I agreed to come back to Station Chief Qian because he was kind enough to guide me and is like a teacher to me. To be honest, my ambitions lie elsewhere. You don't need to target me so much. Whether you learn well or not, it really poses no threat to me. It's just that I'm really annoyed by your little tricks. You'd better not use them in front of me in the future. I don't like it."

Lin Wanwan threw the manuscript at her face. "You were sitting there, but your eyes were constantly glancing at my husband. Who are you trying to impress with that half-dead look? You can write this manuscript if you want, or not if you don't. We're here to learn and work. With so many ulterior motives, you might as well go and sing opera. That might suit you better."

Lu Feng stood up and put his arm around her shoulder. "Don't be angry. Let's go back."
