Chapter 86 Beauty is a Curse

Back home, Lin Wanwan was still angry. She pushed Lu Feng away and said, "You're a total femme fatale. You attract all sorts of bad luck wherever you go."

Lu Feng hugged her and laughed, "You can blame me for all this?"

"If it's not your fault, who else is it? You think it's my fault? I'll just scratch your face and then you won't attract any more unwanted suitors."

Lin Wanwan angrily kicked him and ran to the bathroom to wash up.

Lu Feng had never seen her like this before and found it all very novel.

He knocked on the door, suppressing a laugh, and said, "Honey, I brought you some hot water, please open the door."

Lin Wanwan opened the door angrily and said, "Bring it inside!!"

After washing up, she lay on the kang (a heated brick bed) sulking. How come Lu Feng, that bastard, is so popular with women? Is it some kind of protagonist halo?

"Don't be angry," Lu Feng said softly as he hugged her from behind.

Lin Wanwan kicked him, "I'm so angry, I'm so angry I could die! Stay away from me, don't come near me!!"

Lu Feng hugged her even tighter. If he didn't stay close to her at this moment, he would definitely be even angrier.

The two ended up tearing at each other and somehow ended up in bed together.

Lin Wanwan woke up at almost 9:30 the next day, ate something, and rushed to the office.

Thankfully, the draft was finished this morning. It's all that bastard Lu Feng's fault; he kept me up until midnight last night.

"Ya-Ping, where's today's newspaper?"

Zhuang Yaping ran over with today's newspaper. "Director, this is the article I wrote last night. Could you take a look at it for me?"

"Okay, you can put it down now."

Lin Wanwan first glanced at the newspaper, then quickly looked at her draft.

The red pen quickly made some corrections: "Today's draft is an improvement over yesterday's. Writing is a process of accumulation. Don't be impatient. Calm down, read more, and write more. Being too impatient will only make you write worse."

Lin Wanwan assigned the task to the group for the day, "You have one day to finish, give it to me before you leave work."

After finishing the morning broadcast, Lin Wanwan leisurely read the newspaper, picked up her pen to write tomorrow's article, and stretched.

My lower back is a little sore, that damn Lu Feng.

Lu Feng sneezed several times that morning, and thinking that it must be that little girl scolding him, he couldn't help but laugh.

Lin Wanwan had just finished writing and was about to read "Love in a Fallen City" to prepare for the afternoon broadcast.

Qin Lu walked over and placed the manuscript on her desk. "Director, the manuscript is here."

"Bring the newspaper over and put it away. I'll read it when I have time."

Lin Wanwan continued reading, but noticing that she was still standing at the table, she looked up and asked, "Is there anything else?"

Do you have a problem with me?

Lin Wanwan looked puzzled. "What are you talking about?"

"When they give you a draft, you immediately look at it and make changes. Why do you expect me to just put it down and leave when it comes to me?"

Lin Wanwan was speechless. "What are you barking like a dog?"

"Who are you calling a dog?!"

"Whoever is barking like a dog is the one I'm talking about. I asked you to put the manuscript here because I don't have time to look at it right now. I don't only teach you one thing to do. I have to write the manuscripts myself and broadcast them myself. Can't you see that? Stop barking like a dog first thing in the morning. I'm in a bad mood."

Qin Lu pointed at her and yelled, "Lin Wanwan, don't think you're anything special. You just rely on your family connections to boss us around and act all high and mighty."

"Then you'll have to talk to Station Master Qian. If you don't like me, you can make demands of Station Master Qian to get rid of me as soon as possible, or you can replace me if you're capable."

"Don't think you're so great. I'll surpass you sooner or later."

Lin Wanwan chuckled, "Then I'll wait and see. You'd better surpass me soon."

Qian Senlin walked out and looked around. He said in a deep voice, "You'd better put away your little schemes. You all know my temper. If you don't have real skills, I really won't look at you. Don't spend all your time on those little schemes and those little skills. You should read your director's manuscripts more and learn from her. You're all stupid as pigs and have such bad tempers."

Lin Wanwan almost burst out laughing. Isn't this old man afraid of being scolded and losing his composure?

Qian Senlin was furious; he had no skills but a big temper.

“You’re all as stupid as pigs, you can’t be taught. If you were as smart as her, I wouldn’t have had to beg her to come back and teach you,” he said, slamming the door behind him.

Bai Ying placed the manuscript on Lin Wanwan's desk, saying, "Director, I've put the manuscript on your desk."

"Okay, leave it there, I'll look at it when I'm done."

Bai Ying stood there without moving, and hesitantly said, "Director, they didn't do it on purpose, please don't be angry."

"You mean Qin Lu and Li Changru? I won't get angry over unnecessary things. They are unnecessary people to me. I don't need to explain to you or anyone else who I am or what I do."

Lin Wanwan glanced around at everyone and said, “In this office, everyone is here to work. I am, and so are you. Whether you learn well or not really doesn’t matter to me. You all know the principle of survival of the fittest. If you’re content with the status quo, you’ll be eliminated sooner or later. What impact does it have on me? Even without you, there will still be a lot of people who want to come and work here.”

Lin Wanwan looked at her and said, "What you need to do is very simple: study hard, do your own thing well, and be better than others so that you can stand out."

Bai Ying nodded. "I understand, Director. I will try my best."

Lin Wanwan was exhausted every day. She had to lecture a lot of people at work, like she was teaching her son.

After packing her things, Lin Wanwan went home.

After everyone left, the office staff started whispering among themselves. Bai Ying listened for a while, then, remembering what Lin Wanwan had just said, she calmed herself and continued reading the newspaper and writing her article. She decided to finish two articles before leaving get off work.

On her way home, Lin Wanwan was greeted by many people.

She always had a smile on her face, and would stand up and chat with anyone who greeted her.

"Xiaolin, are you still broadcasting the novel this afternoon?"

"Go ahead and broadcast it. Do you ladies like it? If you don't, just tell me and I'll see if I can broadcast something else."

"Oh, I love it! Don't change it! The broadcasts on your station are much more interesting than before."

"Yes, yes, it's not as lifeless as before, it was so annoying to listen to. Xiao Lin, I heard you're the director?"

Lin Wanwan quickly waved her hand, "No, I'm just a temporary one. Once the leaders find a suitable replacement, I'll be out of the picture."

"That's impressive. Is your company hiring? My daughter doesn't have a job yet. I'd like her to learn from you."

“Auntie, I can’t make that decision. I’m just a temporary one. You’ll have to ask the stationmaster.”

"Okay, okay, I'll go ask her sometime. Xiao Lin, you're really capable and beautiful too."

Lin Wanwan said with a smile, "Auntie, don't praise me. I have to go now. I need to go home and cook. If you don't like the broadcast this afternoon, just tell me and I'll talk to the station manager about changing it."

After saying goodbye to everyone, Lin Wanwan ran into Xu Zhang not far away.

"Mom, are you coming to see me?"

Xu Zhang grabbed her and said with a smile, "Yes, we're looking for our big star. We saw you surrounded by people from afar. How does it feel? Doesn't it make you feel like a big star?"
