That day at dinner, Xu Zhang asked her, "You've been working at the radio station for half a month now, right? How's it going?"
"I heard from Station Master Qian that you're quite good at dealing with people."
Lin Wanwan, munching on sweet and sour pork ribs, said speechlessly, "How did I discipline them? They're always so energetic, acting like they're ready to fight me at any moment."
He swallowed the meat in his mouth, wiped his mouth, and continued, "I can't just let them make a scene. I don't have that much time to deal with them and waste my time. Take it or leave it."
"The scores should be out soon, right?" Xu Zhang thought for a moment and continued, "We'll check your scores for you then."
Lu Feng nodded and said, "Soon, in a couple of days."
"Are you going back to the capital after checking your scores?" Gu Changfeng asked.
"I'll stay with you and your godmother until after the New Year before going back."
"You do have a conscience," Xu Zhang poked her forehead.
Is my brother coming?
Xu Zhang shook his head and said, "He won't come. He's staying with your grandparents. There are already few people in the house. If he leaves, your grandparents will be heartbroken."
"It's alright, Lu Feng and I can spend the New Year with you too."
Xu Zhang touched her face and said, "You seem to have been very busy lately; you've lost weight."
"I've been a bit busy lately. I want to train a few people and mentor them in broadcasting. If they can write their own scripts and broadcast them themselves, I'll have an easier time."
"I have to do my job, but I also have to take care of my health. I was already thin, but now I look even more like a monkey."
"Mom, how can you talk about your own daughter like that? What monkey could be prettier than me?"
Lin Wanwan is indeed very busy. In addition to her regular work, she also has to teach those few people how to broadcast.
I selected a few diligent and motivated students to learn broadcasting. They were exhausted every day, their pronunciation was inaccurate, their enunciation was unclear, and their emphasis on syllables was wrong. I had to teach them all from scratch.
"Bai Ying, tell these few to wait for me in the broadcasting room. Listen to my broadcast first, then I'll teach you. Have you finished writing your scripts for today?"
Bai Ying handed her the manuscript written by the group, saying, "It's already finished after working overtime."
Lin Wanwan quickly flipped through and revised the manuscript, saying, "Your manuscripts are much better than before. You should read and practice more often. Go back and revise today's manuscripts. Come to the broadcasting room to wait after you're done."
After the broadcast, the group was writing their scripts. Lin Wanwan looked at the four people in front of her: Bai Ying, Tan Hai, Zhuang Yaping, and Qin Lu, who had been scolded mercilessly by Lin Wanwan.
Although Lin Wanwan was unwilling to teach her, she was indeed slightly more talented than others.
"You all come one by one and read today's script. Bai Ying, you start."
Bai Ying nodded, took a deep breath to calm herself, and began reading the script.
Lin Wanwan's smile deepened when she heard that the script she read today showed some improvement.
"Keep it up in the future. Give me the draft, and I'll demonstrate for you. There were a few problems with a few sentences just now."
Bai Ying quickly took out the manuscript she had copied and started marking it. Lin Wanwan was very satisfied with the result. Bai Ying's aptitude wasn't great, but her attitude towards learning was always the best.
Is there anything else you don't understand?
"Director, there's still something I don't understand."
Seeing that she had a good attitude towards learning, Lin Wanwan patiently taught her several times and even had her read it aloud after her.
"Do you understand better now? You need to practice a lot to develop a feel for language. Practice whenever you have free time, and ask me again if you don't understand."
Lin Wanwan handed the manuscript back to her. "You are very smart and hardworking. Keep these notes safe; they will be useful anytime. You may not be as talented as others, but you might go further than them. Be more confident. When you work in the future and turn on the main switch, besides your professional knowledge, it's the confidence in your tone. You must have a convincing tone."
Bai Ying nodded, "I understand, Director."
Lin Wanwan nodded. "Next, let's begin."
After teaching the group, Lin Wanwan finally had time to drink some water. Remembering something, she said to Bai Ying, "Thank you for pouring me water."
Bai Ying smiled and shook her head, "It was just a small thing, thank you for your hard work."
Lin Wanwan packed her things and left work, feeling like her throat was on fire.
Just as I reached the office door, I saw Xu Zhang hurrying over.
"Mom, why are you here? Did something happen?"
Xu Zhang looked at her and chuckled, "This child must be so busy, the storage cabinet has fallen silent."
"I just taught them how to make the announcements verbally."
Qian Senlin came out to greet him, "Dean Xu, what brings you here?"
"Station Chief Qian, I've come to pick up my child. The college entrance exam results came out today, and my child was so busy that they forgot."
Qian Senlin slapped his forehead, "I forgot, did you check the scores?"
"I found out, that's why I'm here to tell her."
"How is it?" Qian Senlin asked with concern.
"Anyway, there shouldn't be any problem with her application," Xu Zhang said with a smile he couldn't hide.
Qian Senlin turned his head and asked her, "Where do you want to study? Peking University's Journalism Department?"
Lin Wanwan shook her head, "Renmin University of China, Department of Law."
Qian Senlin was surprised. "You really don't report the news? I thought you were joking when you said you weren't interested in it before. Are you really going to follow in your grandfather's footsteps?"
Lin Wanwan said with a smile, "Grandpa is my lifelong goal. I'm not as amazing as Grandpa, but I will try my best."
Qian Senlin smiled with relief, "I was hoping you would become my apprentice, but it seems that hope is going to be dashed. When you first came, you said you were here to practice, and it turns out you really were here to practice. Sigh, what a good prospect gone."
Lin Wanwan smiled and followed Xu Zhang away. Qian Senlin turned around and went back to his office, watching as everyone pricked up their ears to listen.
"She's leaving, are you happy?"
