If lost
The palm of Wei Shao's hand seemed to be brushed by a wet feather. His eyes widened instantly, and he felt very uncomfortable with this overly intimate action.
He coughed lightly, withdrew his hand, shook his head seriously, and pointed at the wound on Philo's forehead.
Philo then realized what was happening and raised his hand to touch the horrific cut on his head.
Wei Shao quickly stopped him: "Don't touch me."
The strange language he spoke subconsciously made Philo tilt his head, and the curiosity in his eyes could not be hidden at all.
[Don’t speak Chinese in front of him! 】The system suddenly came back to life and yelled in his head, its tone like that of an old mother who was afraid that her child would be led astray.
Wei Shao felt wronged: [Why don’t you teach me to speak insect language? Every time I can only gesture like a mute, which is not helpful for completing the mission, right? 】
The system reluctantly said: [Then tell me, which sentence do you want to learn? 】
Wei Shao was almost laughing out of anger: [Are you kidding? Get me a book on insect language so I can learn it myself. 】
[You wish.] 】The system left behind these words and disappeared again.
Wei Shao: [……]
Philo's neck was sore from looking up, and he was just hesitating whether to pull Wei Shao's sleeve, but Wei Shao suddenly came back to his senses, lowered his head and blinked at him innocently, deliberately ignoring the curiosity and inquiry about Chinese in his eyes.
Wei Shao pointed to his mouth and shook his head.
Philo frowned and looked at it, as if he understood it, but also as if he didn't fully understand it.
Just over a month ago, he heard Wei Shao speak insect language. Although it was only a short sentence and the pauses were awkward and stiff, each syllable was accurate, and the tone was clear, so it didn't sound very strange.
So does this shaking of the head mean that he can't speak, or that he can't speak insect language? Philo looked puzzled.
Wei Shao thought for a moment, pointed at his hand, and recalled the words that Philo had said when he was teaching the little hooligan a lesson, and he accurately reproduced them: "Hand?"
Philo was slightly startled, then nodded immediately.
Wei Shao pursed his lips and smiled, then pointed at his nose: "Hmm?"
Philo immediately understood: "Nose."
Wei Shao turned his finger around, pointed at Philo's nose, and repeated the syllable: "Nose?"
Philo nodded quickly, but because his movements were so large, the wound on his forehead pulled and he gasped in pain.
The system watching all this was so angry that it almost crashed: [What are you doing? ! Why are you so obsessed with insect language? 】
Wei Shao ignored it out of a grudge and took out a palm-sized small medicine bag from his pocket. On the left was an 80 ml bottle of iodine and on the right was a small bundle of hemostatic bandages and cotton swabs.
He squatted down in front of Philo, and just as he was about to unscrew the iodine, Philo pulled his sleeve tightly.
Following Philo's vigilant gaze, Wei Shao saw a shadow flash by in the corner of the wall.
Wei Shao frowned.
There are too many prying eyes here, so it's not easy to stay here for long.
He exchanged a glance with Philo, who pursed his lips and tentatively took his uninjured hand.
Seeing that Wei Shao didn't hide, he simply pulled Wei Shao and ran.
Wei Shao didn't expect that he could still run after being kicked so hard. He thought to himself that he was worthy of being the male lead, and followed closely behind him with his long legs.
After passing through the old buildings, Philo finally stopped in front of an abandoned bridge tunnel. Wei Shao looked at it for a few seconds and realized that this was probably Philo's residence.
Although he had been mentally prepared, Wei Shao still felt an indescribable sour feeling in his heart.
The entrance to the hole was blocked by boards whose original color could not be seen. Philo dragged the boards away with difficulty, revealing the "furniture" inside.
The "bed" was also made of boards, and was covered with many pieces of thick, worn cloth of varying sizes, which could barely be considered a quilt.
Two holes were drilled in the curved wall of the bridge hole, and steel rods were inserted. A relatively flat board was fixed on top, with some sundries and a basin of water placed on it.
The other entrance was tightly blocked by broken boards, mud and rocks, with only a small opening in the middle for ventilation.
Different from the stuffy stench in the residential building just now, the smell here seemed much fresher, which showed that Philo was quite fond of cleanliness on weekdays.
However, the clean environment comes at a price. This place is far away from the residential area where insects gather, the resources that can be collected are pitifully few, there are no buildings to shelter from the wind, and the temperature is much lower.
Wei Shao felt chilly even though he was wearing a not-so-thin coat. He glanced at Philo, who was only wearing a tattered T-shirt, and his brows furrowed even more tightly.
Philo stood at the entrance of the cave with hesitant eyes, as if he wanted to invite Wei Shao in, but was hesitating about something. At this moment, seeing Wei Shao suddenly frowned, the expectation in his eyes dropped a little, his lips tightened, and he moved to the side, trying to use his body to block the scene inside the cave.
After all, he was just a child, and the embarrassment and evasion in his eyes could not be hidden at all. Wei Shao sighed softly, took off his coat, and wrapped it around Philo.
Wei Shao was not yet seventeen, but he was already 1.8 meters tall. His shirt covered the underdeveloped Philo, and the hem fell directly to his knees.
A gust of cold wind blew by, Wei Shao hissed, and hurriedly pushed Fei Luo's shoulder and walked inside. .
Philo was pushed by him in a daze, and when he came to his senses, they both had squeezed into this cramped space.
The bridge arch was not even as tall as Wei Shao, and it was uncomfortable for Wei Shao to stand with his body hunched over, so he simply squatted down in front of Philo.
The coat that Philo was wearing had four extra-large pockets. In the past, Wei Shao would never wear such a bulky coat, but recently his wardrobe was filled with this style, just to be able to carry as many supplies as possible.
While Wei Shao was cleaning Philo's wound with a cotton swab dipped in iodine, he thought happily that he had become a father painlessly.
Quite fresh.
It was very painful when the disinfectant was applied to the wound, but Fei Luo clenched his fingernails into his palms and did not make a single scratch, which made Wei Shao feel inferior to him.
After bandaging the wound, he put away the medicine bag and handed it to Philo, while he took things out of his four pockets one by one.
The first two pockets contain emergency film insulation blankets, outdoor lighters, emergency candles, compressed dry food, vacuum-packed protein powder and whole milk powder.
The things in the last two pockets are much more normal, chocolate, candy, milk cake, beef jerky, dried fruit, mochi, nut bags...
Fei Luo watched Wei Shao take out all of these at once and then stuff them into his arms.
He was holding a large bunch of colorful things, not daring to move, his back was stiff and his eyes were wandering, he really looked like a little stray cat that was panicked because of being fed by humans.
Wei Shao couldn't help laughing, peeled a chocolate truffle and stuffed it into Philo's mouth.
Philo stared at him blankly, his cheeks puffed up by the chocolate and the tip of his tongue slightly numbed by the sweetness.
Wei Shao's actions were far beyond his understanding, like food melting in his mouth, sweet, but so strange that it frightened him.
Philo's eyelashes trembled, and suddenly without warning, he turned his head away and spat out the chocolate in his mouth.
Wei Shao's smile froze. He hadn't expected this to happen. He looked at the spitted chocolate in confusion, wondering if the child didn't like sweets?
He poked Philo, wanting to ask what was going on, but Philo refused to turn his head, so he had to lean over to look at Philo's face, only to see red eyes.
In fact, until a long time later, Wei Shao still didn't know why Fei Luo's eyes turned red at that time.
He only remembered the thought that flashed through his mind at that time:
...How pitiful.
He pinched Philo's face, said nothing more, stood up and rubbed his legs which were sore from squatting, and deliberately stared at Philo's crib.
Philo was silent for two seconds, then pulled him to sit on it.
When he got close to it, Wei Shao felt the entire bed shake. He was very careful and gentle in his movements so as not to break the bed on his first visit as a guest.
He sat there, looking up and down, left and right, and finally his eyes fixed on Philo's face. He suddenly stretched out two fingers, pressed the corners of Philo's mouth, and forced a smile on that depressed face.
Wei Shao raised his eyebrows: "Hmm?"
What's this?
Philo whispered to him: "Smile."
Wei Shao let go and repeated his words: "Laugh."
Philo nodded.
Wei Shao: "Laugh."
Philo: “…”
Wei Shao: "Laugh."
“Smile, smile, smile, smile—.”
Philo angrily covered Wei Shao's mouth with his hand, then frowned and forced a fake smile.
"puff."
Wei Shao was so amused that he almost broke the bed with laughter.
Philo's eyebrows relaxed quietly at Wei Shao's laughter. He hugged his legs, rested his chin on his knees, and stared at Wei Shao with his brown eyes without blinking.
Wei Shao glanced at him, peeled another chocolate, quickly stuffed it into his mouth, and glared at him with a threatening expression to force him to eat it.
Philo's eyelashes drooped slightly, and this time he chewed and swallowed it obediently.
Wei Shao nodded with satisfaction, and eagerly asked many insect language words, and tried to communicate with Philo by combining actions with words. Philo did not think he was talkative, and took the trouble to chat with him about this and that.
It was getting dark outside. Wei Shao ended his exciting foreign language learning session, took out the lighter he usually used to light cigarettes from his trouser pocket, and twirled it around his fingertips for a few times.
“Click!”
A cluster of flames rose from the base of his thumb. Enjoying Philo's gaze which suddenly became bright and amazed, he curled his lips with satisfaction and leaned over to light the candle.
The wind blew the candle flame all over the place. Philo immediately got out of bed and closed the door of the cave tightly. The bean-sized flame finally stabilized, emitting warm light and dispelling the darkness in the cave.
Wei Shao also taught him how to use a lighter to light a cigarette. After doing all this, he began to feel sleepy.
The system that had disappeared for most of the day suddenly appeared and asked vigilantly: [What are you going to do? 】
Wei Shao felt that this system was quite stupid. Every day it either asked him "what are you doing" or was on its way to asking him "what are you doing", but it never said a single useful word.
[Obviously, I'm sleepy and want to go home to sleep. 】
System: [Can’t you just go out and sleep? 】
It was freezing outside, so Wei Shao refused to do it: [What's the point? It wasn't the first time he had seen it. 】
The system was furious: [Do you know how much of an impact this will have on his worldview? 】
Wei Shao yawned: [From his perspective, I appear inexplicably once every month or so, and give him things inexplicably. Isn't this a shock? 】
The system has never been able to convince him, so it can only say in a timid way: "Then wait until he falls asleep before you go to sleep. 】
[Okay.] 】Wei Shao agreed perfunctorily.
He patted the bed and asked Philo to come up and sleep.
Philo's back stiffened, and he did not go over. Instead, he took the tattered piece of cloth on the table, dipped it in the clear water, and began to wash silently.
This was actually the water he stored for drinking. He usually went to the wetlands in the wild to wash, but the water there was always turbid.
Although the strange bug on the bed didn't say anything, Philo keenly felt that it was different from stray bugs like them. There was always a faint and refreshing fragrance on its clothes, and its black hair was dry and soft. It must be very clean.
He carefully washed himself clean before cautiously groping his way to lie down next to Wei Shao.
Wei Shao had been so sleepy that his eyelids were fighting each other. If it weren't for the system reminding him in his head, he would have gone to meet the Duke of Zhou long ago. Sensing the movement, he casually covered Philo with the clothes he was holding and lost consciousness in an instant.
Philo was covered by the loose clothes. When he lifted the clothes, the insects around him had disappeared.
He sat up hurriedly holding his clothes, fumbled on the empty bed for a while, and finally calmed down.
There seemed to be something poking at him in the pocket of his clothes. Philo slowly reached out and took out a watch.
He sat there in a daze, not moving for a long time.
...The strange bug left him another watch.
