Chapter 33 Running

Chapter 33 Running

Upon arriving at their destination, Gu Heng parked the car in the underground parking lot. After the two got out of the car, Chu Xiang didn't rush to leave. Instead, she reached out her hand to him and said, "Let's hold hands."

She really wasn't reserved at all when it came to this kind of thing.

Gu Heng touched her hand. He felt a little uncomfortable at first, but then he took her hand in his and led her forward as if nothing had happened.

Chu Xiang smiled, holding the half-finished yogurt in one hand and biting the straw. She moved closer to him and asked with a smile, "Did you go to the store especially to buy this hair clip for me?"

Gu Heng nodded and hummed in agreement.

Chu Xiang couldn't imagine what it would be like to see someone like Gu Heng standing in a small jewelry shop; he would definitely look out of place.

Chu Xiang grabbed his hand and shook it, "You have to give me that hair clip."

Gu Heng looked down at her, "Didn't you say you didn't like it?"

Chu Xiang replied, "I just think it doesn't look good to wear two identical hair clips, but I can keep them as a keepsake. This is the first gift you gave me without any ulterior motives."

Not counting the ID card she received before, Chu Xiang has received countless gifts throughout her life, and she thought she would keep them carefully, which just shows that the person who gave her the gift is very important.

Gu Heng recalled that while waiting for Chu Xiang to leave the school gate, he suddenly had the idea to walk into that jewelry store. The store was filled with pink and tender items that girls liked, and most of the people browsing and buying things inside were young girls.

He felt very uncomfortable as soon as he stepped inside. It was definitely not a place he would have stepped into before. However, when he thought of Chu Xiang, it wasn't so difficult for him to actually step into such a place.

Looking at his reflection in the glass window, Gu Heng had a strange feeling, as if he had returned to the age of eighteen or nineteen, feeling both naive and youthful under the influence of belated hormones.

A car suddenly drove up into the parking lot aisle.

Gu Heng reacted quickly, putting his arm around Chu Xiang's waist and pulling her to the side. The car was moving quite fast and stopped after a while.

The car window rolled down, and the man driving inside stuck his head out and started yelling, "Can't you watch where you're going? Trying to stage an accident for us?!"

Gu Heng frowned slightly.

Chu Xiang wasn't usually an impulsive person, but something must have touched a nerve. She retorted sarcastically, "Driving so fast in a parking lot, are you in a hurry to be reborn, or in a hurry to be cuckolded? Look at you, you're so ugly, your left cheek deserves a slap, your right cheek deserves a kick. Just looking at you would send me to the hospital for an eye exam. Who would dare to stage an accident against you?"

The man was moved when he saw that she was a pretty girl, but then he saw Gu Heng next to her with an unfriendly expression. Driven by an instinct of same-sex rejection, his pride wouldn't let him show weakness.

The man retorted, "You two scumbags..."

Before he could finish speaking, a yogurt container was smashed directly into his face.

The man was stunned for a moment. After he came to his senses, he unbuckled his seatbelt, pushed open the door, and was about to get out. But then, a foot kicked him back. The man fell back into the seat, clutching his chest where he had been kicked, unable to get up for a while.

Chu Xiang stared blankly at Gu Heng's retreating figure as he withdrew his foot. The usually dignified and composed man had suddenly made such a violent move without any warning!

The man yelled, "Do you know who I am? I'm the eldest son of the Longtao Group! Don't you dare leave, I'll call my men over!"

Gu Heng took another step forward expressionlessly. He reached out, intending to pull the person out, but Chu Xiang had already slammed the car door shut. Then she grabbed Gu Heng's hand and dragged him away.

In the dimly lit parking lot, footsteps and breathing mingled together, like a farcical and exaggerated theatrical performance going off track.

Gradually, a strange feeling spread through his body, and Gu Heng gradually became aware of an unknown excitement that should have been completely out of sync with him.

He looked at the girl in front of him, who was much shorter than him, and wondered where she got the strength to pull him along. It was as if she wasn't leading him away from home, but rather taking him on a fantastical adventure.

Gu Heng gripped her hand tightly and chuckled softly.

Chu Xiang pulled Gu Heng along the stairs in an unknown direction, running up three floors in a row. Later, she was too tired to run anymore and had to stop in the stairwell. She leaned against the wall and carefully glanced behind her. Seeing that no one was following, she breathed a sigh of relief.

Gu Heng stood behind her and straightened the small yellow flower that adorned her bun. Chu Xiang turned around and saw that the man was calm and composed, and apart from his slightly messy black hair, he seemed to be doing nothing wrong.

She asked, "How come you're never tired?"

Gu Heng smiled and said, "Every year in high school, I participated in the 3,000-meter race at the sports meet."

And he always comes in first place.

Chu Xiang was panting. She felt resentful. She hadn't expected that the seemingly gentle young man would have such good stamina.

Gu Heng tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and asked softly, "Why did you run away?"

"Are we just going to wait for him to call people to beat us up if we don't run?" Chu Xiang said. "There are only two of us."

You have to be timid when you need to be.

Gu Heng chuckled softly, "I can call people too."

Chu Xiang looked at him with an incredulous gaze. This kind of thing, calling for people to fight to save face, was just like the kind of childish thing that only immature students would do. It was almost like a threat that he wouldn't leave after school.

Chu Xiang held his hand and said, "I hit him and you kicked him. We didn't lose out, so there's no need to fight him."

Gu Heng had never experienced this feeling before. He was used to following the rules and regulations. This was the first time he had ever done something like hitting someone and running away. In the past, when he was in school, there were classmates who were called school bullies. Maybe they would fight or skip classes. He never thought there was anything good about those kinds of people doing such things.

Perhaps because it was new, a feeling called excitement spread through his body.

Gu Heng was completely unfamiliar with this feeling. He tried his best to control himself and said softly to her, "If something like this happens again and I'm not by your side, you can't act so suddenly."

She's such a thin and small girl. If she were alone and no one helped her, who knows how she would be bullied.

Gu Heng did indeed adopt the demeanor of an elder lecturing someone, but not long ago, the person who caused even more trouble than her was clearly him.

Chu Xiang muttered, "I'm not stupid. I wouldn't do this when there are few people around."

She grabbed his large hand and examined it closely, still quite angry. "Your hand is injured. I can't stand it if I don't teach him a lesson."
