Chapter 25 The Taste of Tea
After two weeks of military training, all the freshmen breathed a sigh of relief. As a result, the shops near the university were flooded with unrestrained retaliatory spending by the freshmen over the weekend.
Because Chu Xiang didn't have accommodation, she didn't have any roommates. Most of the other people already had one or two close friends they could go out with, but Chu Xiang was all alone.
Of course, she didn't think there was anything wrong with sitting and eating alone, but it seemed that others had added another label to her image: aloof and cold.
As Chu Xiang was eating noodles at a noodle shop, a girl with long, flowing hair suddenly approached her. "Hello, are you a freshman this year?"
Chu Xiang looked up and saw a girl who was elegant and beautiful with a gentle temperament. A beauty mark at the corner of her eye moved slightly when her eyes curved upwards, giving her an indescribable charm.
Chu Xiang put down her chopsticks. "I'm a freshman this year. May I ask who you are?"
The girl smiled and said, "I am He Sui from the Chinese Literature Department. I am a junior and also the president of the drama club."
Chu Xiang smiled politely and said, "Hello, I'm Chu Xiang."
"Junior Chu Xiang, have you decided which club to join? If not, then come to our drama club!" He Sui's eyes shone as she looked at Chu Xiang. "I've been looking at you for a long time. From every angle, you're simply perfect. If you join our drama club, you'll definitely shine!"
Chu Xiang: "This..."
“I know you need to think about it. That’s okay, you can take your time.” He Sui took out a pen and paper from her bag, wrote down her number, and handed it to Chu Xiang. “You can contact me when you’ve made up your mind. Our drama club welcomes you anytime.”
He Sui appears to be a quiet and gentle girl, but contrary to her appearance, she becomes exceptionally lively when talking about things she is interested in.
He Sui didn't disturb Chu Xiang's meal. After leaving her contact information, she waved to Chu Xiang, quickly left, and went to her friend's side. Together, they went upstairs to the second floor.
Chu Xiang glanced at the neat handwriting on the note, thought for a moment, and then put the note into her bag.
Immediately afterwards, a girl who had covered her face with her bag sat down opposite Chu Xiang like a thief.
Chu Xiang asked, "July, what are you doing?"
Meng Qiyue whispered, "What did He Sui want from you just now?"
Chu Xiang replied, "She invited me to join her club. Do you know her?"
Meng Qiyue nodded. "Let me tell you, that woman is terrifying. Stay away from her."
Chu Xiang asked in confusion, "Is she scary?"
"You have no idea!" Meng Qiyue put down the bag that was covering her face, her emotions running high. "He Sui's parents are both researchers, and she's had some unrealistic ideas since she was little. When I was six, she told me there were primitive savages in the forest, and I almost ended up as monkey food in the forest. When I was ten, she said I could find martial arts manuals at the bottom of a cliff, and I almost didn't make it back when I went hiking. When I was thirteen, she said her parents could develop a time machine so she could go to ancient times and date emperors and princes..."
Chu Xiang became interested. "And then?"
Meng Qiyue covered her face in pain, "On New Year's Day, I asked my parents when they could send me to ancient times to date the emperor and princes, and then I was laughed at by the adults for a whole year."
There were so many painful things in the past that Meng Qiyue still feels ashamed when she thinks about them now.
She seemed completely unaware that she was actually very easily fooled.
Chu Xiang said, "So she's the cousin you mentioned before."
Meng Qiyue is fearless, but if you ask her what she fears most, it would be her cousin. It can be said that Meng Qiyue's childhood trauma is inseparable from He Sui, who has accumulated countless dark histories related to her.
Chu Xiang had been hesitant about joining the drama club, but suddenly changed her mind. She smiled and said, "I've discovered that I seem to enjoy acting. Since Senior Sister He is so enthusiastic, I've decided to join the drama club."
Meng Qiyue: "!?"
Comparatively speaking, the freshman year courses were not too intense. At least on Monday afternoons, Chu Xiang only had one class. She could have left the school after class, but she deliberately waited until after four o'clock before leaving the school gate.
Chu Xiang stood under the shade of a tree by the roadside, intently watching the cars pass by one after another. Finally, when a familiar black car appeared, she immediately grabbed the tree trunk with one hand, her body extremely weak, and looked at her feet with a distressed expression.
But instead of the person she was waiting for, an unexpected guest arrived.
Seeing that Chu Xiang's expression was off, Gu Jue, still having some conscience, walked over and asked, "Chu Xiang, what's wrong?"
Chu Xiang's expression worsened upon seeing him. "I'm fine, just stay away."
Gu Jue chuckled, "I think you sprained your ankle. Why are you still trying to be brave?"
Chu Xiang straightened up. "My business is none of your concern. Stay away from me."
Gu Jue thought to himself that if it weren't for the fact that she was his creditor, he wouldn't care whether she lived or died. He walked over and said impatiently, "Alright, stop pretending. I'll take you to the hospital."
He has always been a man of his word, and he was already in a bad mood because he had been repeatedly humiliated by Su Ruanruan recently. Now, he was even more forceful in his attitude towards Chu Xiang, who was trying to show off.
Gu Jue reached for Chu Xiang's arm, but before his hand could touch her, another man's hand had already gripped his wrist.
The man was tall and slender, with a calm and aloof expression. His brows held the lingering authority of his workday. Most of the people passing by were energetic young people from universities. This composed and mature man seemed rather out of place here.
Chu Xiang looked at the back of the person blocking her way, her eyes lit up, and she decisively stretched out another hand to hold onto the tree trunk, abandoning that weak and pitiful posture that seemed to need help.
Gu Jue was surprised, "Big...Big Brother?"
To be honest, he felt that Gu Heng's current appearance was very similar to the way he had hit him with something before, and he still had some lingering trauma. But he hadn't done anything outrageous recently, so where had he offended his older brother?
Gu Heng pushed Gu Jue's hand away. "You don't even have basic respect for women. I don't remember the Gu family's upbringing being this bad."
Gu Jue felt deeply wronged, "I only wanted to help her because I saw she was uncomfortable!"
Gu Heng felt his clothes being tugged from behind, and he turned around and looked down.
Chu Xiang's pretty face was full of grievances and pitiful looks. She whispered, "I just don't want him to touch me, Brother Gu. I'm fine. Please don't quarrel with your brother because of me."
Gu Jue glanced at Chu Xiang, then looked at her again, still not believing it. Why did he feel that Chu Xiang's current appearance had a strong tea smell?
Gu Jue had just been arguing with Su Ruanruan not long ago, so of course she didn't want him to touch her.
Gu Heng composed himself and placed one hand on Chu Xiang's waist. His hand stiffened slightly when he touched her slender waist, but he quickly regained his composure and said gently, "I'll take you to the hospital."
Chu Xiang nodded obediently, "Okay."
Gu Jue watched helplessly as Gu Heng helped Chu Xiang into the car, completely bewildered. It took him a long time to understand.
Is Chu Xiang trying to get rid of him by using his older brother?
