Chapter 14 Marriage Contract
In Su Ruanruan's eyes, the Gu family were all in cahoots with Chu Xiang. Although she was not rich, she believed she had never had any desire to curry favor with the powerful, especially since Chu Xiang had said such hurtful things.
Su Ruanruan said with great pride, "Don't worry, I won't owe the Gu family any money. Whether it takes ten years or twenty years, I will pay you back."
The implication was that she agreed with Gu Heng's statement, so naturally she wouldn't get entangled with Gu Jue anymore.
Gu Heng was fairly satisfied with the result. It was already dark when Gu Heng drove Chu Xiang home.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Chu Xiang glanced at the man's cold, hard profile, then glanced at him again.
While waiting at the traffic light, Gu Heng looked at her and asked, "Is there anything you want to say?"

Gu Heng asked, "Miss Chu, have you thought it through?"
Chu Xiang nodded. "I've thought it through."
Just then, the red light turned green, and the traffic started moving again. Gu Heng drove without looking to the side, his silence making it impossible to guess what he was thinking.
For the Gu family, even disregarding the fact that Gu Chaoyang and Chu Sheng have a good relationship, Chu Xiang is definitely a very good marriage prospect. She and Gu Jue are well-matched in terms of social standing, and she has never caused any trouble before. Of course, she is the eldest daughter of the Chu family, so it is normal for her to have a bit of a princess complex.
Moreover, she was a child whom Gu Chaoyang and his wife had watched grow up, and they knew her well. It was much better than Gu Jue going out and dating just any woman.

Gu Heng dropped Chu Xiang off at the entrance of the residential complex. Before Chu Xiang got out of the car, he said, "I hope Miss Chu can think it through before giving a definite answer."
Chu Xiang clearly realized that Gu Heng's words represented the Gu family's attitude, but Gu Heng was just Gu Jue's brother, not Gu Jue's father. The matter of breaking off the engagement would definitely have to be discussed between her father and Gu Jue's father. After she hummed in agreement, she pushed open the car door and got out of the car.
Chu Xiang stopped on the ground, turned around and bent down, saying to the man in the car, "Mr. Gu, please drive carefully."
Gu Heng paused on the steering wheel, met the girl's clear eyes, and said softly, "Thank you, I'll be careful."
Chu Xiang waved and said "Goodbye," then closed the car door and turned around.
Under the moonlight, all that could be seen was a pair of white shoes under her skirt, walking away step by step, casting long shadows in the light. Before long, her shadow, stretched out by the moonlight, also disappeared.
Gu Heng withdrew his gaze and drove away.
As Chu Xiang stepped out of the elevator, before she even reached the door of her apartment, she saw a figure standing there.
The young man leaned against the wall, playing on his phone. He was handsome, but his eyes held a hint of fierceness that made people hesitant to approach him. It was unclear how long he had been waiting there, but his eyes were filled with impatience. When he saw Chu Xiang return, he straightened up and asked, "Where did you go?"
Chu Xiang gave Gu Jue a cold look, "Where I go is none of your business."
Seeing Gu Jue there, Chu Xiang wasn't in a hurry to open the door and go inside; she didn't intend to invite Gu Jue in for tea.
Of course, Gu Jue didn't care to drink her cup of tea.
Gu Jue's face was very ugly. "You blocked me?"
Chu Xiang replied matter-of-factly, "We're going to break off our engagement, and I don't think we can still be friends, so of course I'm going to block you."

He was referring to the message Chu Xiang secretly sent him when Chen Wanrou approached Su Ruanruan.
Chu Xiang gave a curt "Oh".
Gu Jue felt a little uncomfortable. He turned his face slightly away, his attitude remaining arrogant. "What do you mean by sending me this message?"
Chu Xiang glanced at him, wondering if he had a problem with his IQ. "I thought we had made things clear that day. I had no feelings for you and I agreed to break off the engagement. So of course I had no reason to cause trouble for your little lover. Your mother said she was going to take me out to dinner. I never expected that she would take me to the place where your little lover works."
Gu Jue was skeptical of Chu Xiang's words. If he had previously thought that Chu Xiang was playing hard to get, he became less certain after discovering that Chu Xiang had blocked him.
He glanced at Chu Xiang from head to toe, his brows furrowing slightly. "Is what you said before about breaking off our engagement true?"
Chu Xiang smiled, "Even if a piece of cake is delicious, if it falls into the mud, do you think anyone would still pick it up and eat it?"
Gu Jue's face darkened. "Chu Xiang, do you even know how to use analogies?"
Chu Xiang: "If you have something to say, say it. If not, get lost."
Gu Jue realized that Chu Xiang's attitude towards him was getting worse and worse. He felt very awkward. In the past, he was the one who disliked others. When had anyone ever disliked him?
Gu Jue calmed himself down and said, "Since neither of us is interested in the other now, there's no need to resolve our engagement."
Chu Xiang: "What do you mean?"
Gu Jue: "If our engagement is dissolved, whether it's your elders or mine, they will definitely try to find us new marriage partners. What I mean is, our engagement can continue temporarily, of course, only on the surface. Once I have the approval of my family and they are willing to let me decide my own marriage, or once you have someone you like, it's not too late for us to dissolve the engagement."
