Chapter 13 I Don't Accept Secondhand Goods
Chu Xiang was caught peeping at someone, and she felt very awkward standing outside, unsure whether she should walk in confidently. It wasn't until Gu Heng nodded gently in greeting that she had no choice but to bite the bullet and walk in from the restaurant entrance.
Su Ruanruan became extremely wary as soon as she saw Chu Xiang, as if she had entered a state of combat readiness, guarding against any bad things Chu Xiang might do.

Su Ruanruan's face tightened. "What are you trying to do here again?"
During the day, Chen Wanrou would come here to find Su Ruanruan. Su Ruanruan had already assumed that Chu Xiang was behind it all. Otherwise, why would Chen Wanrou come to the restaurant and accuse her of being a mistress in front of so many people?
Before Chu Xiang could speak, Gu Heng said first, "This is a restaurant, and everyone who comes in is a customer."

Chu Xiang could certainly guess that it was related to Gu Jue, but she couldn't guess how Gu Heng would handle the fact that Gu Jue had caused misfortune to the Gu family, given his personality. The observant waiter had already brought out the menu and asked Chu Xiang if she wanted to order anything.
Before Chu Xiang could decide what to order, Gu Heng said, "Carrot juice."
Chu Xiang met his gaze. After using the medicine prescribed by the hospital, her eyes had almost fully recovered, and her eyelids were no longer red. Her beautiful eyes were clear and bright, and the light falling into them seemed to dazzle her like stars.
Gu Heng's lips twitched slightly. "I heard that drinking this is good for the eyes."
Chu Xiang disliked carrots, but she was happy to give Gu Heng face, so she told the waiter, "I'll have carrot juice."
She added, "You need to add lots of sugar."
The table in the corner has only two rows of seats facing each other. Su Ruanruan is sitting opposite her, and there's no reason for Chu Xiang to sit in the same row as Su Ruanruan.
Gu Heng, already displaying great gentlemanly manners, said, "Miss Chu, please have a seat."
Chu Xiang then sat down in the seat next to Gu Heng, but there was still a considerable distance between them.
The waiter quickly brought over a bowl of red vegetable juice. Chu Xiang picked up the spoon and had just taken a sip when she heard Gu Heng speak.
Gu Heng said to Su Ruanruan, "Miss Su, I think it's a good choice for you if the Gu family pays for your mother's medical expenses and your tuition fees, and there's no limit to how long you can repay the loan. This way, you won't have to stoop to Gu Jue's nonsense."
So that's what they were talking about.
However, the word "advance payment" surprised Chu Xiang, who was quietly observing the situation.
Su Ruanruan had witnessed Gu Jue's domineering ruthlessness, Chu Xiang's arrogance, and not long ago, Chen Wanrou's haughtiness. But for some reason, this mature and reserved young man in front of her made her feel even more at a loss.

Su Ruanruan stubbornly pursed her lips, as if admitting it would make her bow down to Chu Xiang, this rich young lady. She replied arrogantly, "Why wouldn't I agree? Don't worry, I won't break your engagement with Gu Jue."
Su Ruanruan told herself to stay clear-headed and not be blinded by the occasional tenderness Gu Jue showed her. She was just a contract lover, and she and Gu Jue were from two different worlds. Gu Jue probably only treated her as a toy to play with, and she shouldn't be attached to her.
Chu Xiang said casually, "Actually, whether you agree or not is none of my business. Anyway, I'm breaking off my engagement with Gu Jue."
Gu Heng took a sip of coffee and remained silent.
Su Ruanruan didn't believe Chu Xiang's words. Gu Jue had said before that Chu Xiang had been chasing after him since they were little, which annoyed him to no end. Chu Xiang had liked Gu Jue for so many years, how could she give up so easily?

Chu Xiang interrupted her, "Even if there is no Su Ruanruan, there might be Wang Ruanruan or Li Ruanruan."
She finished a bowl of vegetable juice, took a tissue from the person next to her, wiped her mouth elegantly, and then said, "To be honest, I'm not interested in men you've slept with. I don't accept secondhand goods."

Gu Heng frowned slightly and looked down at the top of Chu Xiang's head. "These are not things you should be saying at your age."
Chu Xiang had a strange feeling that she was being lectured by an elder. She raised her eyes and said softly, "I'm an adult now."
Perhaps it was because Gu Heng was more mature by nature, and because Chu Xiang behaved too obediently in front of him, that Gu Heng treated her like a child, and therefore felt that such mature words should not come from her mouth.
Ultimately, it was Gu Jue's affair with Su Ruanruan that had a negative impact on the girl.
