Chapter 35 Squeeze
Chu Xiang didn't eat much before stopping, wanting to save room for her favorite dessert. Gu Heng also put down his chopsticks, moved closer to her, and softly asked, "Is there anything else you'd like to eat?"
Chu Xiang shook her head and smiled, "I want to wait for dessert."
In the past, Chu Xiang would try to appear more mature and composed in front of him. For example, she would not refuse when offered vegetable juice. She was always very proper in front of him. Now, she is becoming more and more uninhibited in front of him, not caring at all about exposing her childish side to him.
Gu Heng should have told her to be careful about her sweets intake and not to be too indulgent, but seeing her beaming smile, he couldn't bring himself to scold her. Instead, seeing her smile made his heart melt.
Gu Heng couldn't resist. After wiping his hands with a tissue, he reached out and pinched the flesh on her face with his fingertips.
Chu Xiang frowned, and said indistinctly, "What are you doing?"
Gu Heng chuckled softly, "Xiangxiang, you're so cute."
Chu Xiang certainly liked hearing others praise her, but what did this person mean by pinching her cheeks while saying he was cute?
She grumbled discontentedly, "My face will get bigger from being pinched."
He thought for a moment, not knowing what kind of picture came to mind, and then he laughed, "That's cute too."
Chu Xiang grabbed his hand, "Stop squeezing!"
Gu Heng stopped what he was doing. The little girl seemed genuinely angry, her eyes glaring at him, her fair and flawless face radiating a lively expression. This reminded him of a kitten he had seen by the roadside a long time ago when he went out.
When the kitten was being bullied by a big yellow dog, its body tensed up, and all its fur stood on end, as if it could rush up at any moment and bite the big yellow dog, which was much larger than it.
Gu Heng's eyes curved slightly as he slowly lowered his head, his tone cheerful, "Xiangxiang."
Chu Xiang said irritably, "Hmm?"
He smiled gently and asked for her opinion, "Want a hug?"
Chu Xiang nodded.
He opened his arms and pulled the girl's soft body into his embrace. Strangely, he used to hate it when others got close to him because he worried that they might mess up every detail of his carefully groomed appearance.
However, holding someone in his arms now gave him an indescribable sense of fulfillment.
Gu Heng gently poked the bun at the back of her head, and she looked up at him with displeasure.
His mood suddenly improved for no apparent reason.
Chu Xiang thought he was like a primary school student, the kind of boy who would deliberately pull a girl's hair to get her attention, and even if he was glared at, he would still feel smug.
How childish.
Gu Heng probably realized he was being a bit childish. He coughed awkwardly and then asked softly, "How about I take you out this weekend?"
Chu Xiang shook her head in his arms, "I've already made plans with Qiyue, I'm going to her birthday party."
When Gu Heng first returned to China, Assistant Yin gave him all of Chu Xiang's information, so Gu Heng also had some impression of the July that Chu Xiang mentioned. Meng Qiyue, the eldest daughter of the Meng family, a jeweler, had always been Chu Xiang's classmate, and it was said that they had a very good relationship.
Gu Heng patted her head. "Then next weekend, I'll take you out to play again."
Chu Xiang nodded happily, indicating her agreement.
A waiter knocked on the door. Chu Xiang stepped out of Gu Heng's arms, sat up straight, and saw the woman who had entered. She raised her eyebrows in slight surprise.
Su Ruanruan didn't expect to see Chu Xiang here. Not only was Chu Xiang here, but Gu Jue's older brother was also here.
With a woman's intuition, Su Ruanruan looked at Gu Heng and Chu Xiang sitting together and felt that something was wrong, but this feeling was quickly suppressed by the wariness that arose from the bottom of her heart.
Because Chu Xiang brought Chen Wanrou to cause trouble at the restaurant where Su Ruanruan worked last time, she could no longer work there, so she changed to another restaurant. She never expected that Chu Xiang would find her even after she changed places.
Remembering how aggressive Gu Heng was when he approached her last time, Su Ruanruan instinctively felt that Chu Xiang must have deliberately brought her here to humiliate her again.
Su Ruanruan gritted her teeth. Her pride would not allow her to back down at the last minute. She walked over with her head held high, placed the dessert on the table, and said, "Your orders have all arrived. Please enjoy."
Because her body was tense, she didn't realize that she had used too much force, and the bowl of mango pomelo sago spilled out when she put it on the table.
A few water droplets landed on Chu Xiang's skirt. Gu Heng took out a tissue to wipe the hem of Chu Xiang's skirt. He frowned slightly, looked up at Su Ruanruan who was also a little stunned, and his voice was colder. "Apologize."
Su Ruanruan came to her senses.
Chu Xiang lifted her skirt slightly, looking at the wet marks on it, and frowned unhappily.
Su Ruanruan felt guilty. She knew these two would definitely make a big deal out of it, but she had no choice but to admit her mistake. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. It wasn't an oil stain; it's easy to wash off..."
Before Su Ruanruan could finish speaking, Gu Heng's dark eyes turned deep and unfathomable. He interrupted her, saying, "Even if you can wash away the traces, it doesn't mean your mistake didn't happen."
Su Ruanruan knew that Gu Heng was biased towards Chu Xiang. Wasn't it because the Gu family looked down on her because of her poor background?
Su Ruanruan no longer found it strange that she was being targeted. Although she had no powerful connections, she was not someone to be trifled with. She said, "I've already apologized, what more do you want from me?"
Yes, she's already apologized, what more do you want from her?
Chu Xiang picked up her glass and drank her lemonade. Her eyes were fixed on Su Ruanruan, who was proud and unyielding. Her emotions were very stable.
Gu Heng usually associates with respectable people who consider themselves cultured, and this was the first time he had ever seen someone so self-righteous after making a mistake. He said, "You can leave now."
He actually didn't intend to continue making things difficult for her?
Su Ruanruan felt a little strange, but since they had asked her to leave, she had no reason to stay and suffer.
As soon as Su Ruanruan left, Gu Heng continued to wipe Chu Xiang's skirt with a tissue. To many people, it was just a few drops of water, nothing serious, but Gu Heng was a very detail-oriented person.
Chu Xiang appeared before him dressed beautifully today; there shouldn't be any flaws on her.
Chu Xiang knew he had obsessive-compulsive disorder, so she tugged at Gu Heng's hand and said, "It won't be noticeable once it dries, so don't be angry."
