Chapter 47 I also have a little bit of strength, Holy Spirit Kingdom...
In a magnificent mansion in Holy City, the capital of the Holy Spirit Kingdom, Queen Rose's guards are requesting an audience with a high-ranking official.
"You said someone from the Rose Kingdom is looking for me?" a chubby middle-aged man asked with a yawn.
"Yes, sir, that's what he said," the butler replied softly.
The middle-aged man yawned again, then waved his hand impatiently and said, "Alright, let him in."
Before long, the guard followed the butler in quickly. After giving a knightly salute, he said, "Great Lord of Wales, I pay my respects to you on behalf of the great Queen of the Rose Kingdom."
Wales leaned back in his chair, glanced at him listlessly, and impatiently urged, "Alright, tell me, what does your Queen of the Roses want with me? I have no connection with her whatsoever."
The guard glanced around and, finding that everyone in the room had already left, stepped forward and asked in a low voice, "Does Your Excellency know where Princess Holy Spirit is now?"
Wales paused, a glint of shrewdness flashing in his eyes, before asking with interest, "What? You know?"
The guard, who had been looking down, didn't notice Wales's reaction and quickly said, "Princess Holy Spirit has now set sail with the Anling."
"The Anling?" Wales frowned, racking his brains but unable to recall which powerful fleet it belonged to.
“Yes, it was a small, audacious fleet that took Princess Holy Spirit away,” the guard continued.
Wales leaned back, asking curiously, "So? What does this have to do with me?"
The guard stepped forward again before whispering, "My lord, the sea is full of both opportunities and dangers, both for the princess and for you."
Wales was yawning when he suddenly stopped and asked suspiciously, "You mean...?"
The guard thought Wales was tempted, so he quickly knelt down on one knee and said, "My lord, you are the second in line to the throne. As long as Princess Holy Spirit is there... the throne is nothing more than your possession."
"Oh?" A cold glint flashed in Wales' eyes as he looked at the unsuspecting guard, his killing intent growing stronger.
"Rest assured, my lord, our Rose Kingdom will certainly become your weapon, and will absolutely not implicate you at this time. All we need is... a little bit of your help." The guard said, stepping forward with a fawning smile.
Wales suddenly burst out laughing, making the guards feel a little uneasy. He then stopped laughing and continued, "Alright, I understand what you mean. Let me think about it."
The guard didn't try to persuade him any further. He had already guessed this would happen. He never thought he could persuade him in just one meeting. However, he was still glad that he had already bribed the courtiers around the Duke. As long as he mentioned it a few more times, he was not afraid that the Duke of Wales would not be moved.
To his surprise, after he left, Wales had his steward arrange a carriage and headed straight for the palace.
"What's wrong, my lovely little brother Wales?" The tall Holy Spirit King affectionately hugged Wales and bounced him a few times before putting him back on the ground and asking with concern.
Wales, who wasn't short, appeared tall and strong due to his obesity, yet compared to the Holy Spirit King, he seemed rather petite. He rolled his eyes at the Holy Spirit King, straightened his clothes, slumped into a nearby chair, and then recounted what had just happened in detail.
The Holy Spirit King's expression shifted from initial doting to fury in the blink of an eye.
He watched as Wales composed himself, a smile finally appearing on his lips, and said, "My dear Wales, thank you for your trouble with your niece."
Wales sat up straight and looked at the Holy Spirit King seriously, saying, "Brother, the Holy Spirit Princess is a perfect successor. I think Queen Rose must have other purposes. Please send someone to bring the Holy Spirit back to the capital."
The Holy Spirit King sighed deeply before saying, "How could I not know? But you know what that child is thinking. She is an eagle soaring high in the mountains, and this small royal city cannot contain her."
“But…!” Wales began urgently, but was interrupted by the Holy Spirit King raising his hand.
"Don't worry, that child is more capable than you think. Perhaps she will bring about a miracle," the Holy Spirit King said simply, then paused for a moment before continuing, "I'm entrusting this matter to you, dear Wales. Share the burden for your poor brother."
Looking at his brother's taller and stronger body and his bright, sparkling eyes, Wales's lips twitched, and he sighed deeply before saying, "You've been relentlessly persistent in trying to get me to work."
“My dear Wales, you can only do what you don’t want to.” The Holy Spirit King continued to look at his younger brother with affection.
Wales looked at his brother, recalling the countless times he had failed to persuade him, and said nothing more, nodding to leave. However, before turning away, he still turned back and asked with concern, "Is everything really alright with the Holy Spirit?"
The Holy Spirit King said with a smile, "I think she's happier now than you imagine."
Wales stared at him with a suspicious look for a while before turning and leaving.
After watching his younger brother leave with doting eyes, the Holy Spirit King's face instantly turned cold, and he summoned the Royal Guard Chief.
Just as the Holy Spirit King had said, Sang Zhitao was indeed having an exceptionally happy time.
They arrived at the nearest port town ten days ago. As agreed, Baron would take people to exchange money, while Sang Zhitao would find a tailor to make some suitable clothes.
"Let Eureka go with you, so you don't run into any trouble," Baron said, pulling Sang Zhitao back as she excitedly ran towards the dock.
Sang Zhitao glanced at Eureka, who looked bored, thought for a moment, and nodded, saying, "Okay, as long as Eureka is willing."
Eureka glanced at her and was about to say something when Baron tapped her, so she pouted and replied, "Go away, go away, I'm willing, I'm willing."
Sang Zhitao gave a light snort, completely ignoring the reluctance in the other person's tone.
Baron looked at Eureka and couldn't help but say, "Didn't you prepare a gift yesterday to give to Sylph?"
Eureka looked at Sang Zhitao, who was curiously examining him, and took a deep breath before seemingly displeasedly taking something out of his pocket and handing it to Sang Zhitao.
Sang Zhitao looked down and saw that it was an old-fashioned musket. She glanced at Eureka in surprise before picking up the musket and saying, "Why are you giving me this?"
Eureka gave her a disdainful look before saying, "It's for your self-defense, after all, you're a delicate princess."
Sang Zhitao held the gun barrel in her hand and examined it from top to bottom before saying, "Why does it look like a fire poker?"
"What did you say?! You actually called it a fire poker! Do you have any taste?!" Eureka was so provoked by her words that she almost jumped up.
Baron quickly pressed him down: "It's an old-fashioned firearm, only slightly better than a fire poker. Don't get agitated."
Eureka was provoked by these words again, and pointed at Sang Zhitao, saying, "I won't give her the new style! She's so weak, it would be a waste for her to have the new style... Huh?"
Eureka was jumping around, pointing at Sang Zhitao and criticizing her, trying to find fault with her youthful appearance, petite height, and slender figure to prove that giving an old-fashioned musket was already a great favor. But when he saw Sang Zhitao simply pinch the barrel and bend it, the barrel bent, which almost made him choke on his own saliva.
Barron was so startled he almost lost his grip on the leaping Eureka: "You...you...it...this is...?"
Sang Zhitao tossed the bent musket into Baron's arms, not noticing Baron's flustered hands as he caught it, and said nonchalantly, "I'm a bit strong."
"Is that a little bit?" Eureka blurted out incredulously.
"You...you're so strong, why didn't you resist when we kidnapped you?" Baron asked, even more puzzled.
Sang Zhitao chuckled and said sheepishly, "I forgot..."
Baron and Eureka stared at her in shock, but they couldn't see any sign of lying on her face, nor could they think of anything they could do that would make her lie to them. They could only accept that this was the real reason.
Sang Zhitao wasn't entirely wrong; she had indeed forgotten, but not during the kidnapping. She had simply forgotten to find a plausible explanation for the female lead while writing the book. However… seeing that the two people in front of her didn't seem suspicious, she didn't offer further explanation, knowing that explaining would only make things more complicated.
"I'll take the weapon back," Baron said with a sigh, looking at the musket in his arms.
Sang Zhitao thought for a moment and reminded him, "Actually, you could find a weapon maker to make me a staff. I prefer using a long staff."
Upon hearing Sang Zhitao's words, Baron instantly conjured up an image in his mind: a petite girl wielding a thick stick and swinging it at someone. He shuddered, shook his head, and banished the horrifying image from his mind.
However, Baron still nodded in agreement: "No problem, we'll stay for about seven days, which is enough time to forge a decent weapon."
Seeing this, Sang Zhitao said no more and led Eureka toward the tailor shop.
This port town isn't very big, but it's very lively. The further you go in, the more people there are, and you'll bump into each other from time to time, apologize, and then part ways again.
The damp stone ground was so smooth that the sun's outline could be seen, a testament to the sheer number of people who had worn the rough stones down to this state.
Men dressed as pirates, arm in arm, drunkenly carrying beer and singing pirate songs, rampaged through the streets, eliciting gasps and jeers wherever they went.
Men dressed in simple clothes carried goods back and forth on the dock, just to save up a little bit of hard-earned money.
The gentlemen in their silk suits looked at the ground with disdain, worried that the splashes of mud might soil their new clothes.
Women in light brown dresses either haggled loudly or carried goods as heavy as men through the streets and alleys.
Women dressed in gorgeous, flowing dresses tugged at their clothes, winked at passing men, and occasionally disappeared into the distance while playfully pulling people along.
In the corner of the alley, seventeen or eighteen-year-old boys and girls, entangled in the air of youthful innocence, evaded the gaze of adults and expressed their love in the quiet corner.
“Let’s have a fight later,” Eureka suddenly said, looking at Sang Zhitao who was curiously looking around.
Sang Zhitao glanced at him unexpectedly, then nodded indifferently in agreement.
Eureka, with her simple mind, didn't think much about it; she was only excited about the upcoming challenge and didn't consider what would happen if she failed.
