Chapter 12 You Can't Take Her Away
Back at the palace, Sui Sui slept uneasily. Liberi stayed by her bedside, patting her back and lost in thought.
Liberi left early in the morning, so Su Su had no idea that he had been guarding her all night.
When she woke up the next day, she felt heavy all over. She had slept for a long time, but she was still sleepy. After breakfast, Qiao Suisui turned on her laptop, intending to browse around to kill time, but she found that her nebula had attracted a lot of attention.
Her Nebula account has never posted any tweets, only has an empty homepage without even a personal introduction, but it now has seven million followers, and the number is still increasing in real time.
She rubbed her eyes, thinking she had logged into the wrong account. She looked closely at the ID: her eyes were as big as copper bells.
Yes, it’s her account.
Since Sui Sui has never posted a tweet, people cannot leave her a message and can only send gifts to express their excitement.
She clicked on her ID and found that there was an extra 100,000 star coins in her Nebula balance.
She counted it several times to confirm that it was real money, and exclaimed, "Wow!" A few days ago, when she logged in, she took a look and saw that there was still zero.
She logged out of her profile and checked the trending posts on Xingyun. She found her photo prominently at the top of the list. Clicking on it, she was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of comments and reposts. Some were courting her, some were simply leaving their addresses, and some were listing their wealth and comparing it to dowries. Most of the comments expressed their affection for her, though there were, of course, a few discordant ones.
[Haha, the Royal Hospital can only be used by members of the royal family. Coincidentally, a friend of mine is a member of the royal family, and she said she had never seen this female.]
This post was criticized hundreds of times -
[Ouch, I was wondering what was pressing against me. Turns out it was your big face.]
[Another "I Have a Friend" series, can the sour people come up with something new?]
[You just say that without thinking? Where's the evidence?]
Perhaps driven by the criticism, this person then posted another tweet with the title: "Asking for a hammer, hammer! Now anyone can use the Royal Hospital! Is this bribery or behind-the-scenes manipulation?"
The accompanying image was of Qiao Suisui's medical records. Although it was censored, some private information was still visible. She was about to zoom in to see more when a video message from Liberi suddenly popped up on her computer.
"Sui Sui, are you awake? Are you feeling unwell?"
"I'm fine." Then the two of them chatted as usual, tacitly not mentioning what happened yesterday.
"Ash, were you the one who took me back yesterday?"
"Well, what's wrong?"
"I thought it was Luka."
There was a moment of silence on the other side before he smiled nonchalantly and said, "He said the military had a lot of things to deal with, so he left you to me."
Hearing the slightly heavier emphasis on the word "lost," Sui Sui lowered her head, said "Oh," and changed the subject, never mentioning Luka again. Ten minutes had passed since she hung up the video call, and when she tried to click back on the case, she saw "System Error" on the screen.
She logged out and browsed around again, only to find that the tweet that uploaded her photo was also locked, and the comments and reposts below were no longer visible, while the star coins and number of followers in her account were still increasing.
"strangeness."
She muttered to herself and went to do other things, not taking this little episode to heart.
And the other side of the city.
Interstellar FBI.
"Colonel Scorsese, if what you said is true, and there is an ancient human living on our planet, why did you report it only now?"
The shadow of the brim of his military cap obscured the upper half of Luka's face, obscuring his expression. He folded his hands, releasing all the pressure from his body, making him appear cold and powerful.
"Such important news, I must confirm it and report it."
Several senior executives couldn't find any rebuttal, so they turned the tables and said, "Miss Qiao Suisui's ancient human identity was nearly exposed online, and we were completely unaware of it. She had no security measures in place. If anything were to happen, the consequences would be beyond our control. You and I will bear direct responsibility for this. Do you acknowledge this?"
"I admit it."
Luka didn't make any more excuses and accepted everything.
He hadn't noticed Sui Sui's photo had been uploaded in time. Fortunately, Labry was quick to react. He had the relevant comments and information deleted and conducted a confidential interview. Even though he had instructed the dean to maintain confidentiality beforehand, Sui Sui's medical records were still stolen. He wasn't thorough enough.
Seeing that his attitude was quite positive, one of the senior officials stopped asking questions and said, "Since the news has leaked, Scorsese, you should hand over the matter to the federal authorities as soon as possible."
Luka's pupils suddenly shrank, and when he stood up, the chair behind him fell over, making a sudden loud noise.
"You can't take her away."
"Why?"
Luka pursed his lips. He couldn't tell her that Sui Sui was pregnant with his child. The time was not right yet.
"She has just adapted to life in the other palace, and her physical and mental state are not suitable for transfer."
"Don't worry about that. We've already sent someone to your annex to try to hand this distinguished ancient human lady over to professional care as soon as possible."
"Professional?"
"The head of the Paleoanthropology Research Center, Dr. Munakata."
Meanwhile, at the Legault Palace.
Sui Sui was discussing what vegetables to plant with her male servants in front of an abandoned flowerbed when suddenly a gust of wind blew her sunhat away. A huge shadow then fell over her, covering the entire flowerbed.
She reached out to hold her long hair that was blown by the wind, looked up and squinted, and found a huge flying ship hovering above her head.
The footmen, nervous and hurried, gathered around her, forming a human wall to protect her. The butler beside her wore a blank smile, the curve of his lips eerily eerie upon closer inspection. Fluorescent light flickered in the pocket of his vest. The computer screen displayed 37 missed calls, all signed by the owner.
"Is anyone visiting? I'll go back to my room first."
As she finished speaking, the massive ship slowly came to a stop on the open ground, its hatch opening from above. Due to the ship's size, the hatch was about ten stories above the ground. An elevator automatically extended from the hatch to the ground, and several men in neat military uniforms descended.
Sui Sui recognized that the color of their uniforms, epaulettes, and badges were all different from Luka's.
"They're from the FBI. Why are they here so suddenly?" A servant said anxiously, "Miss Sui Sui, let me take you back."
She nodded, and just as she turned, she felt a chill run down her spine. Following her instincts, she turned back, only to see nothing but emptiness. The sight seemed to have vanished into thin air, leaving her feeling suspicious.
She glanced around. The butler was whispering with someone from the Investigation Bureau, and the servants gathered around him all had blank expressions, showing nothing unusual. However, her intuition told her that there was some kind of danger hidden here.
She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. But that gaze followed her like a shadow, lingering behind her, as if watching her every move. She began to feel uneasy, and her doubts grew deeper and deeper.
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew past, and she shuddered. A strange smell seemed to linger in the wind, causing her heart to beat faster. She turned back thoughtfully and continued walking forward. She had only taken a few steps when the housekeeper, who had chased her from behind, called out to her.
"Miss Sui Sui, please stay."
